I caved in at Target, $14.99...great video, weak audio. I had to crank my receiver to get good sound, but it was nice at high volume. The video quality destroys the old version and my unofficial theatrical version, but it wasn't perfect. Who cares, it's Blade Runner! It's definitely the best it's ever looked on any home video format.
The one thing that bugs me is the back of the case, talking about "how Deckard might be a humanoid". Pretty lame for those of us who grew up with this film and as well as those who have never seen it. It definitely raises my suspicions that Scott will try to include that into his new cut coming out. I don't know if there's any "debate" in film that pisses me off more at this point. Oh well, I've seen it in the theater already and I have two versions I equally enjoy on DVD. Bring on the remastered theatrical version.

Happy to see that some people are "caving in" and buying this. I mean, really, is it not a no-brainer? It's cheap...it's better...and it's still going to be a while before the megaset is in our hands. Why would anyone wait? I look at it as I could be dead tomorrow....why not enjoy it while still breathing?

Wow..thanks for that link!!! That was incredibly insightful and fascinating. Always wanted to get the book regarding the controversial making of Bladerunner and I think this one gets pretty close.

That documentary certainly lends credence to the new DVD having the right color balance, since all the film shots look like they came from the exact same source.

you can pick it up that doc on ebay along with the 'shaky' camcorder workprint version.
on my pc the quality of that doc online is rubbish. my copy from the tv broadcast was a little bit widescreen i believe. but it's what fans have been wanting on the big dvd for years.
mark kermode also did the exorsist documentary too. and that doc was slightly longer on bbc tv than all dvd releases. i remember footage showing the neck pulsing contraption on regan and interviews with mercedez mccambridge which were not on the dvd. so who knows if the edge of blade runner doc is a cut down version of a much longer documentary.

? With the remastered version releasing this week... how can you tell which version you are purchasing in the store.. as I have seen 'repackaged' (aka not snapper) orignal DVD release in local stores since June'06??
The images of the covers used on the web seem to be the same art work?

And for anyone not sure if you're getting the new remastered disc, it says "remastered" in at least three places...once in the sticker on the front and twice on the back cover: once near the top, and again in the descriptive text blurb below. Can't miss it!

Kissed my snapper case version goodbye today, I decided to try and remove the chapter listing gently from the case to not tear the paper front cover and it went smoothly. So I cut it and placed it in my keepcase copy. Now it has an insert! I sold off the snapper used and it's still in good shape. I got around $2 bucks back for it. Fair enough.
