i don't have Blue Ray or HD-dvd and this Blade Runner release is making me contemplate on getting either one. I wish there was a clear cut winner in the HD war so I can make up my mind on which one to get.

Not challenging your opinion, just wondering why...
I'm stuck between both at the moment, I always ask why, when people seem to be on one side or the other.

I've spent a good amount of time looking at both formats. I believe that Blu-Ray has a better picture than HD-DVD. It's more crisp, shows better colors and has a little more detail. The sound is the same from both but I find BD to have a superior image quality.

...and in a limited supply." Does that mean you have to order now? No. The Planet of the Apes Head set is still available and it was released in March '06.
Worst case scenario if you don't preorder, you don't get one or you deal with the aftermarket.
Worst case scenario if you preorder, you find a better price and/or you return it (for that or any other reason).

I remember back in January 06 there was a rumor a 3 disc SE would be announced which would include the British documentary "On the Edge of Blade Runner". Does anyone know why this excellent documentary will not be included in this release? Hopefully most of the material that was covered in "On the Edge" will be included in the three-and-a-half-hour documentary, Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner. I'm so glad I kept my 280MB AVI video of "On the Edge".

I'm guessing either Warner couldn't secure the rights to the documentary, it was decided that there was too much overlap between it and the new documentary, or possibly both.

Thanks for the link Jay G. The info about the Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner documentary is promising..."When all is said and done, this will be the definitive documentary on the film."

I am disappointed to see that this might not be included. I did read somewhere that said that a lot of the material is included in the new documentary, but not the entire thing. Its a shame because the Mark Kermode documentaries are always insightful and interesting. The ones that are included on The Exorcist, The French Connection and The Shawshank Redemption DVDs were all excellent. I guess its a rights issue as well. It makes me wish that some DVDs would include the old Johnathen Ross show "The Incredibly Strange Film Show." I know that one of the Evil Dead DVDs has the episode on with Sam Rami, but it would be great to see some of the others again. I guess not that many people would be interested in picking up Fred Olen Ray features just for the documentary though. I have a few still on VHS and rewatch them now and again. In fact i watched the George A. Romero / Tom Savini one over the weekend. Tom Savini has not changed at all, but George really has gotten older.

DVDActive has the artwork for the 2 and 4 disc sets up now. Actually, I kind of prefer the artwork on the 2-disc edition, even though the 4-disc one uses the theatrical poster art.

Anybody able to figure out just what will be going on our shelves if we get the briefcase but put the briefcase somewhere else than our DVd shelves? It looks like there might be at least two different digipaks within the package.

10:1 if the five disc set sells out quick, it will be OOP for six months before WB re-releases it in a regular case sans extra do-dads.
I believe they did the same thing with the Limited Steel Tin Superman Collection.
