Hard Candy can be considered Horror if the right person views it as such. I have Can you Play misty for Me, on my list. Not really horror, but definitly got some scares in it.

Hard Candy is horror for sure, especially if you consider films like I Spit on Your Grave to be horror. It fits into the rape/revenge category nicely.
As far as people lying to be competitive, that could be true, but still seems like too much time and energy to waste. Its easy to tell from the posts in this thread who is having fun and who isn't, which tells a lot about the people and how they view this challenge, I think.

Has anyone seen the first two house movies? Both are on sale at Amazon and I think I may order on Wednesday because i need a birthday gift as well. But I don't want to waste the $$$ right now if they suck.
Oh and what should I watch tonight? I'm finishing up Cube right now and up next is Bloodrayne 2 but what's next?
I was thinking one of the following...
The Descent
Boy Eats Girl
Venom
Monster House
And it's kind of funny but I'm enjoying the checklist more than anything else with this challenge. It really reminds me of the Xbox 360's achievements system lol

Is there a list somewhere of horror movies that won academy awards? Every time I google it I wander around forever and never learn anything helpful, and I really don't want to have to watch "The Silence of the Lambs" out of desperation. :-p

On an unrelated topic, Sleepaway Camp 3 sucks.

I have two questions. Do anime films like Blood: The last vampire and vampire Hunter D count? As long as they are over 40 minutes right?
And secondly, anyone know a good horror film to watch with commentary? Obviously it shouldn't be something I've watched in this challenge already (my list is 1st post of page 4). and my dvd collection is at chrisranson.dvdaf.com

I just thought I'd pop in with a quick recommendation. I highly recommend checking out IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, the 1995 John Carpenter flick. I watched it again tonight for only about the 3rd time, and I have to say it's probably Carpenter's most underrated film and one of my favorite horror thrillers of the 90's. It's a common misconception that Carpenter didn't make any good films really after the 80's, but I'd put this on par with some of his best stuff. It's one of those that many folks don't even know about and thus seldomly gets mentioned. It's loosely based on some of the ideas in the works of H.P. Lovecraft and references and parodies Carpenter's friend Stephen King a good bit in the story as well.
Given the nature of the stories, I'd say watching IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS and CIGARETTE BURNS as a double feature would be ideal, for my money the two best things Carpenter's done in about 20 years.

Hey Trevor, what about adding "Killer/Evil Child" to the subgenre list, and adding Peter Cushing and Robert Englund to the actors list?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to fina NC-17 and X-rated horror movies? As far as I knew all those went into the "unrated" category, i wasn't aware that any of them still had the original ratings and I couldn't find anything elpful on google (it hates me this week).
