ABC Family had a mini-marathon of some 70s stop-motion Christmas specials today. That stuff is great, I think it holds up better than a lot of animated specials. And the stories are a lot more imaginative (and trippier) than what you see today.

Just filled the Criterion category by watching the Criterion Laserdisc of "It's A Wonderful Life" with commentary by Capra scholar Janine Bassinger (as a matter of fact I used that for the commentary category, too). So a Criterion Christmas title does exist, but it's obscure.

Winner!

I do have a laserdisc player (in storage, got free last year), but I have never in my life even seen a laserdisc (really).

I'm tempted to scour ebay for that disc, and take a virgin dip into laserdisc viewing.

I netflixed Better Off Dead since it was on the main Christmas list someone posted, and I have to wonder if this really counts, yes Chrsitmas and New Years were in it but a pretty small part of it, anyone else see it recently think otherwise?

I just watched The Christmas Toy, a movie I haven't seen in well over 10 years. I love it just as much as I did as a kid!

Also, after Monday I should have plenty of time to watch more and more, since school is over on Thursday and I all ready have all my homework done so...

Anyone watch My Name Is Earl last week? I counted it on my list. Wasn't a "Christmas episode", but it did take place during the holidays. Just wanted to clarify that, in case anyone had any objections.

I watched it and debated listing it. Ultimately I decided not to because it didn't have the holidays as a theme, but I've got no issue with anyone counting it.

I should be able to start back up with the challenge soon too. Been staying late at work and most of my TV time has been taken up trying to finish 24 Season 5 (2 episodes left) and Mad About You Season 3 (9 episodes left). When I'm done with those I'll be able to dive into my holiday list.

Yeah if it takes place between Thanksgiving and New Years Day then it counts. I counted 3 episodes of Boston Public simply because they took place during the holidays.

I have a new thing for the checklist, doesn't have to be added, but it might be fun.

Watch Something from the Year You Were Born...

Might be fun to try and find something from the year you were born.

I watched it, but I can not remember one single reference to the holidays in the episode. I've looked at the few synopsis that I could find, and I am struggling mightily trying to remember.

Don't get me wrong, the rules say it counts, just help me out here!

Spoiler:
When they let Earl out of solitary the warden referenced that it was Christmas. Then through most of the episode there were Christmas lights hanging around the prison.

Last nights episode of "Journeyman" was definitely a Christmas episode. Far and away the best show on TV right now. Give it a lookski if you haven't already.

Trevor - Where did you catch the Matlock episode? I used to watch Matlock all the time when it was on originally.

Now, whenever I hear Matlock, all I think of is Grandpa Simpson on "The Simpsons" and friends demanding more "Matlock!!!"

If I could get a Christmas Episode of "Columbo", I would be in heaven.

It was online, either google or aol or youtube.

I'm with you on Columbo. They show it a couple times a week on some cable network, maybe they'll show a Christmas episode this month. I'll keep an eye on the listings and let you know if I see anything.

I'm pretty much where I thought I would be... maybe a little behind where I hoped to be though.

I've been getting home from work later than usual so weeknights aren't as "optimal" as I'd like. I sometimes feel lucky to get though a 30 minute sitcom.

I tried to get throught the 45 minute "Happy Elf" the other night and the kids were just insane. I gave up. It's still on the DVR though so I'll get to it eventually.

I hope to step it up a notch in the coming days since I got a ton more that I'd like to watch.

Still, in the past I've vowed to watch more holiday programs and hardly watched any. But I've watched more holiday stuff this year than ever in the past.

What Wally said. And at one point Earl is even decorating the electric chair for Christmas.

I believe the first Rocky would count (I've all ready said Rocky IV won't count, regardless of the fight on Christmas day), the first Rocky starts out around Thanksgiving and I believe the main fight is on New Years Day. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, today just so happens to be my last day of classes. Starting tonight I will start watching like crazy. I have tonight, all day tomorrow and all day Friday before I start back at work!

Matlock - Santa Claus will be on Hallmark channel on Dec 23rd.

I really try to avoid watching anything on my computer, I just would much rather have it on DVD or my DVR. I can hook up my laptop to my TV, but stuff on YouTube, etc... (in general) just looks so terrible, it's hard to watch.

A quick search didn't turn up any Columbo episodes that had a christmas/holidy theme. I didn't look to hard, though.

The main fight is on July 4th, hence Apollo Creed's red, white and blue shorts and his pre-fight costumes.

No, the fight is on January 1st, the reasoning behind his red, white and blue shorts was because it was 1976 America's bicentenneal

My thinking is why bother thinking about a pretty much non-holiday movie like Rocky when there are 30 movies a day on TV with the word Christmas or Santa in the title.

My DVR is 92% full with those items from just the past few days, and I've been burning them to DVD and deleting them as fast as I can.

But I understand wanting variety, as many of these Christmas movies are pretty darn similar.

I'm looking for an excuse to watch Rocky, it's one of my favorite movies.

Yeah. I kind of did the same thing with Lethal Weapon. I hadn't seen it in a while, but I never went for it when I was looking for a movie to watch.

I'm making up for it by watching Holiday specials on The Food Network
