I haven't watched Ernest Saves Christmas since it came out, but I found it in the cheap holiday movies at Barnes and Noble. It was stupid, but I still had fun watching it.

I don't know if it counts, but I can't believe you two have/had never watched The Thing before. One of the top ten films of all time IMO.

Interesting everyone loved The Thing, I hated that movie. If I remember correctly, it has nothing to do with the holidays. Not sure if it takes placed during November or December.

I don't know what to tell you. With 1400+ DVDs, it never came to the top of the pile. It's not one of those movies that ever comes up in conversation with people I know, so no one ever pushed me to actually watch it. Now it's on the short list

I have a friend at work who has never seen any of the Godfathers, Terminators, Alien movies, or Superman movies. I about crapped my pants when I found that out. Godfather 1/2, T2, Alien, Aliens, Superman, and Superman II Donner Cut are all in my top 25.

It takes place during the first week of winter.

I remember trying to watch it as a kid when it was on TV but it bored me and I never get very far into it.

Much better this time around.

It's fun to do that with my wife. She's from Okinawa and I got her to watch tons of stuff for the first time that I've seen a million times, like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Nightmare on Elm Street and sequels, Friday the 13th and sequels, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and so on.

I also got her to watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre but that was a huge ordeal that took over a year before I could get her to watch it.

I had a friend that had never heard of From Dusk Till Dawn and played that for him without saying anything. That dvd is made for people like that since it doesn't ruin the movie with a menu or anything before it starts.

Did anyone watch American Dad last night? That was, by far, the best episode of the shows run so far. Hilarious.

I know this is a stretch, but one of the Trevor checklist items is:
--- Watch something about Christ.

They have JC (as they refer to him in the show) in there for just a bit (it's his birthday party). Just thought I'd get the peanut gallery's thought on that one.

P.S. Finally 1000 posts!

Trevor -

If you don't mind, I was curious when you grew up? I was shocked to see that you have never seen: The Smurfs, Perfect Strangers, or Full House. These were right in my wheelhouse when I was growing up. Just surprising. I hope you have at least seen True Romance and Beverly Hills Cop to see Bronson Pinchot's true genius

Yep, loved those two movies.

I've just gone thru a few phases where I have almost totally ignored TV or movies for long periods of time.

I'm 40, so I believe I was a bit too old for the Smurfs when they were introduced. Also, I tend to be very hard on sit coms, not liking mainstream stuff like Three's Company or perhaps the two you mentioned, but holding out for stuff like Arrested Development.

I had the Smurfs Christmas special on a burned DVD somewhere. I watched it last year for this, but I can't find it anymore.

Just to clarify - I am not a fan of Perfect Strangers or Full House, I was merely mentioning that these were huge shows when I was growing up and it would have been extremely hard to miss (There were only like 40-50 channels back then! )

I knew of the shows, but knew enough to avoid them.

Oh, the good old days of only 50 channels.... I actually remember the days of only 8 or so channels, a couple of those only coming in if my sister or I took turns holding the rabbit ears out the window.

Congratulations The Monkees.

My initial goal was a modest 20 as my record last year was 23. However, I surpassed that and am now at 40. That is way more than I thought possible. I am now going for the 65. Wish me luck!

I'm watching the Saved by the Bell episodes "Home for Christmas" and I think it was hilarious when the old guy passed out and instead of giving him CPR right away, Slater waited for a mouth guard to cover the old guy's mouth. That was really generous of him.

Did anyone watch Surviving Christmas last Saturday? I thought it was actually pretty funny and an enjoyable flick. I think the reason it bombed so bad at the box office is because everyone was sick of Bennifer in the news. Would Enemy of the State count for our lists, I am pretty sure the whole story takes place during the Christmas Season. Btw I only have nine more to go and I will reach my goal of 85, I am hoping to be done by Christmas.

I saw it this morning. I agree, best episode of the series so far. Although I think this one was mediocre and the other episodes I've seen just awful. I don't think I'd count it, as JC was just a bit player really.

Someone else had added that to the checklist first, and I thought it was appropriate to add, as He is the reason for the season. I'm thinking something obviously religious like The Little Drummer Boy or a Nativity movie would be best.

I've watched a few, in my checklist. Death Takes a Holiday was a good episode too.

Happy belated birthday! And congrats on getting a great series set.

Speaking of NBC comedies and Tony Shaloub, I just saw that the two best series on television are coming back to NBC, Monk and Psych. Both had great Christmas episodes last week.

Well, I made it to 100 and I'm still counting.

It's amazing watching all of these sitcoms and how the formula for Christmas shows is pretty much the same from show to show / year to year.

I'm loving watching all of these TV shows that I haven't watched in years. I don't necessarily want to watch them again, but it is definitely bringing back some memories.

I am also loving watching these shows that I've never seen before. 90% of them I will not watch again, but there have been a few diamonds in the rough.

Next year will be interesting. I still do have quite a few DVD options next year, but as far as all of the TV shows I've watched, I can't imagine watching all of those again next year. I will probably focus on the checklist.

Great challenge.

Same here largely. These cable movies and sitcoms all are using the same 3-4 formulas.

My OCD is really kicking in, and I am feeling like I have to record and watch everything possible.

I'm burning to DVD about twice what I'm watching, so I'll have enough Christmas content to last the rest of my life.

I'm this far in, so I am just going to stick it out and keep watching more than a human should. Hopefully I'll be content at 400 and change, and not realize that 500 is within reach. But this is the last year. Next year I'll watch 31 movies/shows, one quality item per day.

My watching will probably end on Christmas day, usually I have no desire to watch holiday movies on or after Christmas. I don't have many New Years stuff, so I'll probably just stop on Christmas. But we'll see what happens.

Congrats to everyone hitting their goals or having more fun than originally thought.
