So would Entrapment count as a New Year's movie?

If most of the movie takes place during New Years, then yes.

I stand corrected. I never really thought about when it actually took place. I always just assumed it was July 4th because of the red, white & blue.

I started a thread asking about possible Criterion holiday titles.

So far, besides the IaWL laser disc, we know that Metropolitan would count.

So anyone wanting to add "Criterion" to the Super Geek Addendum, we have at least two to choose from.

I was able to find this on eBay and ordered it. Hopefully it will get here before the end of the challenge. Hopefully before Christmas, I usaully have no desire whatsoever to watch Christmas movies after Christmas.

Well I official hit 65 last night thanks to the Supernatural Christmas show and the Saturday night Live special last night. My goal now is at least 80.

Congrats!

What was the Supernatural Christmas Show? Sounds like I wish I DVRd that

It was called "A Very Supernatural Christmas", check out the episode thread in the tv thread. Sam and Dean were doing a job after people were being abducted up their chimneys. I am sure you can watch it at the CW's website or it might be available on itunes. But it was a very good episode.

Darn! I enjoyed the first season of Supernatural, but then decided to stop DVRing it and just buy the season DVD sets.

That episode is not available for viewing on their site yet, I'll check back next week.

I wasn't sure I would have enough holiday content to reach 65 but by my latest count I should be able to hit into the 70s at least.

If anyone cares, here is a list of Christmas TV shows that are on through next Thursday/Friday on cable (or at least my cable package):

I don't have any of these shows on DVD, so I went searching through the DVR guide. Some of the shows I have never even heard of (The Game?), and many of them I have never even watched that show. There may be a lot of stinkers out there, I guess we'll find out!

They are in chronological order starting today (Saturday) through next Thursday (some Friday shows at the end)

COPS - "HO! HO! Ho! Special Edition No. 4"
George Lopez - "A Clear and Presentless Danger"
George Lopez - "Christmas Punch"
Mad TV - "Holiday Show '06"

Sunday - 12/16
Nigella's Christmas Kitchen [Food Network] - "Holiday Party"
Little House on the Prarie - "A Christmas They Never Forgot"

Alice - "Mel's Christmas Carol"
Alice - "'Tis the Season to Be Jealous"
Bah-Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas
Full House - "A Very Tanner Christmas"
Home Improvement - "Yule Better Watch Out"
Roseanne - "Santa Claus"

Tuesday - 12/18

I forgot to mention. Starting either tomorrow or Monday, Nick at Nite will be playing holiday themed episodes all week. I don't know if it is just for an hour a night, or the whole night, but it starts this week.

Also I should break my record of 67 this year no problem.

Anyone seen the new movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks?

Christmas is pretty prominently featured, but I don't think it hits 75% holiday time.

I updated my list with Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows. I can't vouch for hardly any of the Cartoon Network shows, as I have seen very few of them. I'm sure some of them are "kids" shows.

My god, my DVR is going to start smoking. It already crashed once today when I was scheduling some programs.

You all with access to cartoon network and a sick sense of humor should check out the Squidbillies episode, Rebel With a Claus.

I hated Squidbillies the one other time I saw it, but this episode was a lot of perverted fun.

I think you missed it in your list Numes, its a 15 minute show on a couple times this week I'm pretty sure.

I re-checked Cartoon Network through next Friday (My DVR goes 6 days ahead), and it is not on. It was on at 2:45 this morning ("I can get you on a flight coming back from Chicago. Does that help? ").

Weird thing is that on the Cartoon Network website, it doesn't even list it as a show. I didn't see ATHF or Robot Chicken there either. Odd.

I will keep my eyes out for it, though. I watched about 2 minutes of Squidbillies once, and I noticed it had the voices of some of the ATHF guys, so I would imagine I would like it. Seemed very odd (those 2 minutes I saw).

Sorry, you're right, it was last night/this morning.

I'm sure it will be on next week or the week after.

Numes, I hope you don't mind, but I'm using my and your DVR notes to let Rob know of the things he's missing in his much larger list at his site.

Actually, I was going to do the same thing. I was going to get the channels of the shows before I posted. I registered for christmasbroadband.com forums so I could see his list. He's definitely got a TON of information there, but it is mostly focused on movies and specials, not the sitcoms/cartoons.

When I looked a the Christmas Eve list, I almost started laughing because there were 9-10 shows every 1/2 hour/hour. Amazing.

Do they make a DVR with more than 2 tuners?

Edit: I looked at the list again, and there are like 10 shows every half hour/hour on Christmas eve. (and that's only a partial list)

He's also maintaining the list at the mymerrychristmas forums as well, which get a bit more traffic and conversations than christmasbroadband.

I know, I'm thinking about getting a 2nd DVR tuner for the living room so that I can record 4 shows at once this season.

I'm pretty much set. Dual tuner tivo downstairs, single tuner tivo upstairs, a media center pc, a dvd recorder with hard drive, and if i really need something else recording at the same time, I have 5 vcrs on standby with some cable splitters if needed.

Will I even use a quarter of these? Probably not, I've only watched 3 things so far with the first one being The Thing, which I had never watched before.

I hit 61 yesterday, I only need to watch 7 more things until I break my record. If I can hit 68 by Christmas day, I'll be set. I really doubt I'll watch much from the 25th through the 31st.

If anyone recorded George Lopez in Nick last night, they were not the Christmas episodes. Either my DVR guide was wrong, or Nick just screwed up. It looks like they will be airing the Christmas episodes again, though.

As for my goal. I never really set one. I am actually shocked I am at ~70 right now. I figured there would be no way I could get to 100. Now it looks like I'll definitely beat that.

Wait. Does "The Thing" qualify for this challenge? I have it on HD DVD, but have never watched it before either.
