Re: WBshop offering rare films on DVD

Both the Oldies catalog and Critics Choice had HUGE sections of Archives stuff this month...sadly the prices were, in some cases, higher than on the archives site itself (?).

Re: WBshop offering rare films on DVD

Along with my shipping notice, WB Shop gave a $5 discount on my next order, which was nice. Hopefully they'll be another 5 for $55 sale with new stackable coupons at some point soon, as there are a couple dozen noirs I'd like to order. With free shipping and cashbaq canceling out the sales tax, I can live with a price point of $8 or $9, as long as the transfers don't get negative reviews at DVD Beaver.

Re: WBshop offering rare films on DVD

There appears to be a mastering problem with Irwin Allen's THE BRIDGE THAT FELL DOWN (two-disc set). Disc 2 completely freezes up at app. 1:24:45 and there's no way to get past the lock-up so you can't even finish the film. I tried it on three units and had the same issue - then I called for a replacement. The operator had just spoken to another customer that apparently had the same issue and she was going to escalate the problem to their tech people. They did send me out a replacement which I just received and it does the exact same thing - completely freezes at that point. Hopefully, they fix this issue soon so that I can request another before the 30 days is out (I'm going to wait a few weeks to give them time to fix it).

If anyone else bought the Allen value-pack, you may want to check this particular one out quickly and report the problem as well so that they hear from as many customers as possible.

The chroma bug was driving me crazy though. Apparently it's been a problem with several of the Archive titles.

DVD Beaver now has a separate section for all of their WB Archive reviews.

My DISC 2 of The Night the Bridge Fell Down completely fails to load. Disc 1 plays just fine.

Warner is running a special right now for about 60 widescreen Archive releases including Return to Salem's Lot. 3 of them for $39.95 plus free shipping. It's more than I care to spend on Archive titles but it's better than the standard $19.95.

Plus, DD is running Archive titles right now for $19.39 (with their usual free shipping and no sales tax). I don't know if that's temporary or permanent. They used to be several dollars higher than the Warner store site, but they've taken over shipping and handling for Warner on these so maybe that's why there's a cost savings. Amazon still shows Archive titles for $26.99.

Re: WBshop offering rare films on DVD

My replacement copy of The Night the Bridge Fell Down also fails to play DISC 2. I give up on getting a working copy and requested a refund.

Re: WBshop offering rare films on DVD

This morning, I placed an order for Feds, If Looks Could Kill, A Return to Salem's Lot and Trojan War. I used code XB592 to save 25% off each dvd, knocking the prices down to $15 and change. Total before shipping was $63. They offered Next Day Air for just $5 more so I grabbed it. The order shipped earlier today and will hit me via UPS tomorrow. This is my second order with them and I don't remember it going quite this fast last time. I'm pretty pleased.

I just bought my first DVR and guess what it's screwed up too.
To be fair this one is not from Warner but it's from MGM, but it's still a DVR.
I will give them one try to fix this as I have requested a replacement copy.
If it works out then everything will be fine but if the replacement copy is screwed up too, then i'll never buy another DVR.
If there's a DVD that I want and it's only available as a DVR, well then tough
i'll just have to do without.

Re: WBshop offering rare films on DVD

Tarzan and the Trappers: The Warner DVD makes a fatal mistake in trimming the full-frame picture to faux widescreen, these were made-for-TV and the misframing is quite obvious at times.

XB510 seems to be working at the moment. I believe it's 20% off.

Thanks, but that only works on titles that aren't already on sale.

Now they are remastering highly requested titles and selling them for 24.95. Two On A Guillotine becomes available 6/22. Still burned.
