I have noticed this at the local Fry's electronics and, to a lesser extent, Best Buy. Fry's used to have a huge WWE selection and a tiny MMA inventory, and now it is the opposite. MMA is hugely popular right now, so stores bulked up their inventory. It makes sense to stock more of what is popular. I still see these stores stock a lot of the "special" WWE releases (docs and "anthology" type collections), but not so much on the regular PPV releases anymore.

Yeah, no offense taken. I've seen it at quite a few Best Buys in New York, and even one FYE.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

Kinda ironic that they named a DVD based on Jeff Hardy after a slogan originally on CM Punk's shirts.

Wanted to give everyone a heads up that Best Buy has where you can order WWE Smackdown vs Raw for PS3 or 360 and get a $10 PPV credit as well as a WWE DVD for $4.99 (includes anthology volumes). Just ordered it and got the last volume of the Royal Rumble Anthology I needed.

I'm probably going to get this, that's a pretty good match listing. Some pros and cons:

pros

-The Hardys vs. Edge & Christian - Steel Cage Match - I know that's never been released on DVD before
-Jeff's return to RAW against Edge
-The IC title win over Johnny Nitro
-his awesome match with Shawn Michaels before No Way Out '08
-I always wanted his first wwe title win, but Armageddon '08 sucked.
-The stretcher match completes the Matt/Jeff trilogy.
-again, I wanted his world title win at NOC '09, but the ppv was just eh.
-awesome to see the blowoff match with Punk in the cage.

cons

-the triangle ladder match is available on DVD...again.
-of all the matches with Umaga, the falls count anywhere was the worst. I would have preferred the match they had the night after Survivor Series '07. I ended in a dq, but it was really electric.
-Only reason the match with Dolph Ziggler is on there is because he's getting a push, but at the time that match was nothing but a set-up for WM 25, and a bit of a squash.

Minor quibbles, though.

Was going to pick up the Batista DVD from best buy but at 30 bucks for a DVD I probably won't open up and watch right away. Just seems like I should just wait and see how the price holds up. I've seen too many of these 3 discs set DVDs go for under 20 bucks after a few wks to not wait and see.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

is the jeff-hbk match on the dvd the only match they had together 1 on 1?

it looks like a good dvd, glad they included the ladder match with rvd, and the steel cage tag team match, i hope his sendoff match with punk includes the aftermath as well

i would of liked to see more stuff from the hardy boyz days but they have to push stars like ziggler i guess, i hate when they gloss over years and have a entire disc of just 1 year

That match appears on Hardy Boyz: Leap of Faith.

I'm going to pick up the Batista DVD at FYE on Thursday.

I noticed the same thing with Best Buy in Canada.

They had the Batista DVD for $33 + tax, usually they always have it cheaper.

The match listing for Jeff's set is fantastic - thankfully, they focused on his '06-'09 run, which was easily the peak of his career both as a draw and a worker.

Best Buy has been losing their damn minds over the past year and a half or so. Their extremely high prices coupled with their imcompetent and annoying employees has turned them from my favorite to my most hated dvd store.

Xscape Match for the X Division Title
Here's a cliche: if you've seen one x division match, you've seen them all. This match could not be more fitting for that phrase. The usual jumping and spots, nothing really spectacular, but the finish, with Suicide jumping off of the rails into security was pretty amazing.

**3/4 (out of 5)

Queen of the Cage Match
Knockout filler match. Sojourner Bolt and Madison Rayne look awkard, Daffney really is quite hot, and ODB squashes everyone. Mostly a waste.

*3/4

MCMG vs. No Limit vs. LAX
A better match than the opener; a lot of unique high-flying, double-teams, and Hernandez looks unstoppable. Good finish, and just the right amount of time given.

***

Abyss vs. Matt Morgan
Definitely the best match in their trilogy, some nice bloodshed here, but a bit too long. There came a few moments when it seemed over, and then it just dragged on without much reason. I'm also bugged how everytim Abyss takes a huge bump, he'll be conscious enough to have some kind of small seizure, but not conscious enough to kick out of the winning pin. It just doesn't make any sense.

***

Awesome Kong vs. Taylor Wilde vs. Angelina Love
Solid match, but Love botches the finish, which kills any heat the match might have for the end.

**1/2

Team 3D vs. Beer Money
You can never go wrong with a good Team 3D street fight. This match was the only one with actual nearfall. Good brawling, weapons, and athletics. Probably the match of the night.

***1/2

Team Jarrett vs. Team Angle
I love some serious star power, and this match had star power to spare. But once you get past that, there's absolutely nothing special here. AJ Styles takes one amazing bump through the cage, just like he takes an amazing bump at Lockdown every year, but that's about it. The opening five minutes are very boring, the weapons fighting is sloppy, and the end comes out of nowhere. So-so match.

**1/2

Sting vs. Mick Foley
I do not like this match. Foley needs to be in a hardcore match to excel. He needs a wide-open space, a lot of weapons, and should bleed buckets. He can't carry a match, and neither can Sting. This was just punching, kicking, and throwing into the cage. For some reason, these two just didn't seem capable of telling a story here, and the end came out of nowhere. TNA needs to learn the importance of nearfalls.

**1/4

All in all, it's a pretty solid show. There's no real dud, but nothing quite goes through the roof. The middle is the best part, but the two main events are somewhat of a letdown. The best Lockdown remains the 2006 edition.

does some have the collectible for mick foley's matches?

I was watching the Batista DVD and along time mark 1hr:00min:13sec I saw a big guy which looks like a lot Throwbackchampion.

Was that you, Throwback? Im having doubts since you also been interviewed on wwe.com (saw it in your blog) last February during batista's visit in your country because the guy i saw looks like you but was huge (in terms of physical shape) and sporting a Mohawk (which contradicts to what nodeerforamonth noticed about you)

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XII

caved in and bought the Batista DVD, the documentary looks appealing. Cheapest place in Canada to find it was $29 at HMV.

It's surprising how expensive WWE DVDs are lately in Canada including PPVs which use to be like $15-$16 now they're like $20-$22.

Are the WWE dvds in canada distibuted by a new company; as on Amazon.ca it lists Paradox and the Koch website has not been updated since Rise and Fall of WCW (and they usually had new sets listed very early).

Not sure really. On the Canadian versions it's basically the same as the US ones like the spine number, and "discs made in Mexico" sticker but only difference is they have a Canadian rating sticker in the back.

It does seem like Koch has merged with another company called E1 Music since when you google Koch Canada it directs to e1music.ca

Didn't the Koch releases also have their logo on the spine?
