I'm sure you can understand what it looked like given past events around here.

Trying to be helpful by posting a thread with one reply in it instead of the monster master thread at AVS? OK dude.

I gotta go - I have to list how many Blu-Ray's I have ordered in my sig.

You really need to tone it down.

Word of caution: unless you have to have it now, just wait. This should be released in early/mid October here.
Yeah, I'll probably just wait. It would be nice if Netflix rented the HD-DVD, though.

If you have a Hollywood Video nearby they may still have a rental copy for sale. Mine got a bunch more in, including used (but new) copies of many WB and Paramount titles for $9.99.

It came out in Japan, but I don't believe its been released anywhere else.
Anything particular you wanted to know about the release?

The accent wasn't intentional, I didn't think it was hard to understand but I know some people have an issue with accents.

I have owned it for a good while... Its not the greatest disc in the world. Very hard to understand anyone... since they are trying to speak english and only can speak japanese.

It doesnt have english subs, It took about 3/4 of the movie to get use to them speaking. Some actors had to sound out the words in phonics, at times its very hard to understand them. Cool movie but not worth 50 bucks. Also the colors are very contrasted and bright.

I sent my copy to Ken of Hidefdigest a couple weeks ago, The email I got the other day was that it would have a review up sometime this week or next. So just keep watching Hidefdigest.

According to two different sources Pasolini's Salo has been set for a September 22 release in the UK. The previous release of this film in the UK was courtesy of the BFI and I have not seen any news indicating that they will be releasing on BR. But, Tartan own the rights for the rest of the Pasolini's works so if Salo has become their property perhaps there is a chance that the UK distrib could surprise us with another great transfer (The Seventh Seal).

On the same day a 2DVD SE arrives as well.

Ciao,
Pro-B

I'm in the same same boat as you. I am going to hold off canceling my pre-ordered Criterion version until complete specs are available for the UK import (most importantly of course, the region coding).

I received the following private message this morning (hopefully it won't be a problem to post it here ) :

While it is indeed going to be a BFI release, you'll probably be interested to know that Sam Dunn, the current Head of BFI DVD Publishing, worked at Tartan until earlier this year - so he was directly involved with the Pasolini boxes and the Seventh Seal Blu-Ray.
I won't be waiting for a Criterion release!

No.

After I posted the news at the Criterion forum yesterday Purpee added the following comments:

The BFI's new Head of DVD, Sam Dunn, announced SALO on Blu-ray in the current edition of UK trade mag RRP. He also mentioned Antonioni (gotta be RED DESERT), and some Tati.
I don't have the RRP with me but this is more in tune with can we expect

So does anyone have info on what happened to Black Narcissus and the other ITV releases that were pushed back to this week, but have now been withdrawn from any schedules?
