I don't see how they could let Sweeney Todd pass them by as an HDM day and date. The Kite Runner I could see just going to DVD, but not something as new and notable as ST.

We'll probably have to wait until next week, the imfamous 3/4/08 news embargo, but something tells me Paramount will not be missing day and date on HDM for Sweeney Todd... It might be on Blu-ray.

There's been too much rumor running around about this stuff. Remember, where there's smoke...

They had better give us a decked out BD Sweeney Todd with lossless audio.

What they did to BD-only owners back in August '07 wasn't exactly a treat either.

I like to think that's good news about There Will Be Blood. What could be worse than cancelling it?

Bee Movie is cancelled as well as every planned HD DVD release after March 4th.

The last two are a couple of those $10 Echo Bridge releases with the others being:

Artie Lange's Beer League
Category 7: End of The World
Curse of King Tut's Tomb: The Complete Miniseries
The Last Sentinel

In case you haven't already read this elsewhere, NO MORE Paramount or DreamWorks HD DVD movies after this Tuesday (Into The Wild and Things We Lost in the Fire ARE coming out).

So NO Bee Movie and NO There Will Be Blood for HD DVD.

Spoiler:
Now...whatever should I do with the Jack Ryan screener they sent me months ago? Bury it in the sand for 1000 years and maybe it will be worth something.

10.5 and Category 7 were made for TV movies.

Here are a couple more covers...

Ocean's 11 and 12 standalones coming. Hopefully this practice will be in effect when The Matrix comes to BD.

Warner Plans 'Ocean's Eleven,' 'Ocean's Twelve' Stand-Alones for Blu-ray, HD DVDFri Feb 29, 2008 at 03:00 PM ET
Tags: Disc Announcements, Warner (all tags)

Previously only available on high-def as part of the three-disc 'Ocean's Giftset,' Warner has announced it will issue the first two installments in Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's series as stand-alone Blu-ray and HD DVD release this Spring.

According to the studio, 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'Ocean's Twelve' will hit stores on Blu-ray April 29, with the HD DVD version following three weeks later on May 20. (Note that 'Ocean's Thirteen' is already available individually, having been issued as a separate release day-and-date with the 'Giftset.')

Specs for the stand-alone versions of the star-studded heist flicks will mirror those found in the box set. Both films enjoy 1080p/VC-1 video, and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround tracks (at 640kbps) and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Japanese.

Although 'Twelve' does not include any bonus features beyond a few theatrical trailers, 'Eleven' features an audio commentary with director Steven Soderbergh and writer Ted Griffin, an additional cast commentary with Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Andy Garcia, the "look of the Con" featurette, an HBO First Look Special, and more trailers.

Suggested retail for the stand-alone versions of 'Eleven' and 'Twelve' has been set at $28.95 a peice.

You'll find specs for 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'Ocean's Twelve' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, where they are indexed under April 29 and May 20, respectively.

We've also set up dedicated threads for Warner's latest in our Forums area -- click the following links to discuss the 'Ocean's Eleven/Twelve' Blu-ray release and the 'Ocean's Eleven/Twelve' HD DVD release.

You mean the practice of holding back the individual releases for six months?

Since the other thread is closed...

http://gizmodo.com/362786/universals...ease-atonement

After Paramount's remaining HD DVD schedule (to be generous) came out, we hit up Universal to see what their roadmap looked like. Unfortunately, it looks to be just as barren. Here's the response we got:

We have Atonement available on HD DVD March 18th—we have not announced anything additional.
Looks like Fletch is still scheduled (Phew!), hopefully this will come at the new, reduced prices Universal should be doing soon.

Well, let's hope they make some real atonement and get some BDs out soon.

Does Universal have any big day and dates coming out after this (DVD wise)? I can't think of any.

Yep, that's the only one they had previously announced. The HD-DVD is still available to pre-order at some websites like DVD Planet. It remains to be seen if they will continue with that release. I would love to have that movie on Blu-ray. I saw it twice in the theater. Great film!
