Talking about Sony, anybody know if Leon is coming soon? I say it because it's announced in Germany for October 24.

Wait, is it that the Eminem movie? What a bad choice to be include in a bundle with war-themed movies.

Looks like Jarhead is getting the Universal "cut all the extras" treatment. Didn't the HD DVD include all the DVD special features, including some from the Steelbook (or something like that) edition? Can't tell with The Kingdom as I am not as home to compare.

Mr. Cinema's post said the November 25th titles would be in the action/thriller pack, so it's just Jarhead and The Kingdom. 8 Mile is November 18th.

Man, I am impressed with Universal ramping up titles like this. Dare say, I think they have shot up the list as my favorite BD studio now.

Uni has been very active that's for sure. I used to be really impressed by Disney but their catalog output has waned and gotten expensive at the same time.

Its great their releasing titles, but are we OK with them cutting extras but adding in EE and DNR?

Agree on the "great they're releasing titles" but hugely dissapointed with cutting extras. I'll be voting with my wallet this time around. And of course not being interested in any of the titles

I'm hoping the EE/DNR trend will abate - at least they didn't do it to Miami Vice.

I will most definitely take the opportunity to replace my Kingdom combo (another one gone!). Not sure about Jarhead - have to see reviews first.

The Kingdom is a possibility if it's ever cheap. I'll stick with my HD DVD of Jarhead.

I think I'm more happy about Kingdom than the other titles if only for the sole reason that it is my last combo I have!

Us, original HD-DVDers already knew Universal was the best studio. They're blu-ray ports have been less than stellar though.

I really like a lot of Universal titles but I wish they would steer away from the Universal menus in their high def. releases. Do they need to constantly remind us who put the disc out?

The trend seems to be that any movie shot digitally or sporting a digital intermediate is left alone. Anything else...? Crap shoot.

Not only does Universal not include any stupid previews/promos, but I like how all the discs feel the same. Animated menus that make stupid noises are so 1999.

Besides the DNR on certain titles and few missing features here and there, I think they are doing a great job. Adding lossless and and some new features to old titles along with releasing catalogs like no tomorrow, they are pushing Blu-ray better than the established BD studios.

What are these additional features they are adding?

As far as I Remember, both Mummy films had a short 5-6 minute addition and Miami Vice had 3 featurettes from the previous DVD version. That's it.

DNR/EE has been added to many of their titles, and like I posted before, nearly every release so far has dropped some if not ALL of the previous special features. Some its not just some, its the majority.

They've added PIP U Control to Mummy, Mummy Returns and Scorpion King. If I'm not mistaken on the Scorpion King Hd-dvd, you had to flip to the dvd side to even access the extras.

What are these "many" titles you're talking about? I realize U-571 has a DNR issue but besides that, I've seen nothing but good reviews on PQ on Universal titles.

Keep in mind the U-Control is merely the special features recycled over to be watched at the same time as the film. Other titles (like U-571) drops the features so you can only watch them via U-Control (screwing over Profile 1.0 owners). Not a huge fan of U-Control would much rather watch what special features I want to when I want to. Not when that little U prompts me too.

U-571, Mummy, Mummy Returns (so far) (DNR/EE).

I will agree with you that I also am not a fan of the throwing together all the special features into U Control.

Might blind buy MirrorMask. Otherwise, more crap crap crap. I was excited when I heard "100 titles" from Sony this year, but at least 10% have been garbage movies. Oh well - at least we still stuff like The Fall and The Counterfeiters.
