Looks like Jarhead is getting the Universal "cut all the extras" treatment. Didn't the HD DVD include all the DVD special features, including some from the Steelbook (or something like that) edition? Can't tell with The Kingdom as I am not as home to compare.

Agree on the "great they're releasing titles" but hugely dissapointed with cutting extras. I'll be voting with my wallet this time around. And of course not being interested in any of the titles

I'm hoping the EE/DNR trend will abate - at least they didn't do it to Miami Vice.
I will most definitely take the opportunity to replace my Kingdom combo (another one gone!). Not sure about Jarhead - have to see reviews first.

I think I'm more happy about Kingdom than the other titles if only for the sole reason that it is my last combo I have!

Not only does Universal not include any stupid previews/promos, but I like how all the discs feel the same. Animated menus that make stupid noises are so 1999.

Besides the DNR on certain titles and few missing features here and there, I think they are doing a great job. Adding lossless and and some new features to old titles along with releasing catalogs like no tomorrow, they are pushing Blu-ray better than the established BD studios.

As far as I Remember, both Mummy films had a short 5-6 minute addition and Miami Vice had 3 featurettes from the previous DVD version. That's it.
DNR/EE has been added to many of their titles, and like I posted before, nearly every release so far has dropped some if not ALL of the previous special features. Some its not just some, its the majority.

What are these additional features they are adding?

What are these "many" titles you're talking about? I realize U-571 has a DNR issue but besides that, I've seen nothing but good reviews on PQ on Universal titles.

They've added PIP U Control to Mummy, Mummy Returns and Scorpion King. If I'm not mistaken on the Scorpion King Hd-dvd, you had to flip to the dvd side to even access the extras.

Keep in mind the U-Control is merely the special features recycled over to be watched at the same time as the film. Other titles (like U-571) drops the features so you can only watch them via U-Control (screwing over Profile 1.0 owners). Not a huge fan of U-Control would much rather watch what special features I want to when I want to. Not when that little U prompts me too.
U-571, Mummy, Mummy Returns (so far) (DNR/EE).

Might blind buy MirrorMask. Otherwise, more crap crap crap. I was excited when I heard "100 titles" from Sony this year, but at least 10% have been garbage movies. Oh well - at least we still stuff like The Fall and The Counterfeiters.
