Some notes from my distributor:

Good news first:

Get Smart appears to be coming on 11/04/08 msrp of $35.99

Zombie Strippers: 10/28/08 msrp $38.96

Also there appears to be a TON of 3 movie packs at slightly reduced prices for the holidays. Here's a few: Kid, Action, Hard Action(WTF), Family, Marvel, Chick, and Muscle(WTF). All of these have msrp of $79.99, which means you'll find them for around $50-$60. All of these are FOX titles as well.

Onto the bad news, which this does suck, and especially since this was coming near x-mas, but Dr. Strangelove has been cancelled/delayed.

Also my distributor seems to have seen the Iron Man problem as they have cancelled the original orders and replaced them with new ones.

Dexter for the win!!!!! Seriously it is the best show on tv and I highly recommend it for those that haven't watched it yet.

Now that this is cancelled along with Ghostbusters, I believe I have no upcoming Sony titles to buy for the rest of the year (though La Femme Nikita is a possibility).

I enjoyed Get Smart and will definitely be buying it. Surely WB will put TrueHD on that one.

In addition to the previous new Paramount catalog mentioned yesterday from the Bits, DVDEmpire also listed the following today:

Journey To The Center of The Earth (2008) - 10/28
Last Holiday - 12/30
Step Brothers (unrated) - 12/2

Dexter! Election! Braveheart! Truman Show!

It's making my head spin how many movies Paramount is releasing on Blu-ray.

Hilarious story I heard about Days of Thunder. It opened two weeks after Dick Tracy in the summer of 1990, and to intimidate Jeffrey Katzenberg over at Disney (Simpson worked for Katzenberg's much-hated boss Michael Eisner at Paramount) he faxed him "You can't escape the thunder!" In return, Katzenberg faxed back, "You'll never believe how big my dick is!" Dick Tracy outgrossed Days of Thunder by $20 million.

I would have gladly laid down cash for Dexter on BD... if I didn't already own it on SD. I'll replace only if they drop in price like Weeds, which I upgraded on the cheap.

So only the first season of Dexter now that season 2 is already on DVD; should we assume that second series will hit Blu when the third season is on DVD? And they'll wonder why sales are poor...

Kinda makes sense...like Torchwood Season 1 coming out on BD when Season 2 was hitting DVD and Prison Break skipping Season 2.

I don't see why they can't, ya know, do Season 1 and 2 on Blu-ray at the same time, but whatever.

For those interested, American Gangster and Casino are both on BD50s while Eastern Promises is on a BD25. As usual, Eastern Promises appears to have some features cut.

Care to elaborate? Highdefdigest has this to say:

I've not seen any kind of news one way or the other since that initial announcement.

Back cover art at DVDEmpire:

HD DVD:

Blu-Ray:

It does appear the Blu-Ray has new features, but as always, the proof is when it's in your hands.

Bunk is right, I was thinking of Jarhead (or The Kingdom I get all those damn war movies confused). The BD version dropped features from one of those movies.

My copies are on my doorstep right now so I'll doublecheck when I het home. That BD scanned cover looks right though - a sticker covering the UPC is how all my Universal BDs come.
