I bet the whole time he tries to explain why his film is better than anything by Steven Spielberg and how he is truly the most original, amazing director there ever was.

Just a guess! I wouldn't watch this film unless it was free so I'll have to take a look at the reviews once its out to find out what his commentary was like. I'm curious.

That's all they need. 35 more minutes of crap that didn't make the first cut of the crappy movie...

Wow, the first Uwe Boll catalog title. I'm not expecting freakin' Alien yet, but doesn't Fox have better titles to be putting out than this?

This is more like it.

From Classic Flix:

Three weeks after they announced the standard definition version of The Day the Earth Stood Still - Special Edition (1951), Fox has announced The Day the Earth Stood Still (Blu-Ray - Special Edition) for release on same day the standard def version hits the streets (December 2nd). Specs appear to be the same as the SD version (below).

It will retail for $34.99. It appears the extras from the SD verison will be carried over to the BD.

Commentary by Robert Wise and Nicolas Meyer
Commentary by Film & Music Historians John Morgan, Steven Smith, William Stromberg & Nick Redman
Isolated Score Track
The Making of The Day The Earth Stood Still
Decoding "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto": Science Fiction as Metaphor
A Brief History of Flying Saucers
Edmund North: The Man Who Made the Earth Stand Still
The Astounding Harry Bates
Farewell to the Master: An Audio Presentation of the Original Short Story
Fox Movietonews from 1951 - Featuring the Film's Premiere

Well, that approximate $35 price is $5 more than the apparent MSRP of the first X-Files movie, but it's still $5 less than they had been charging for catalog titles.

Maybe they're going to use the $35 price point for titles with enough extras to warrant 2 discs on DVD, with 1-disc DVD equivalents going for $30.

$19.98 MSRP for when The Day the Earth Stood Still was originally released on DVD in 2003. $19.98 for the SE double dip. $34.99 MSRP for the BD original release. Yikes.

This is what happens when Keanu Reeves stars in unnecessary remakes.

This is what happens when studios decide to milk brilliant classics for all they are worth.

I myself just got this on DVD so I will be waiting for a price drop. Maybe they will do a $10 mail-in-rebate? How good is Fox with that sort of thing?

Funny that this movie has better specs than ALOT of what Warner has been shoveling lately.
