I'll likely just get the 1-disc Walmart edition, if I bother at all, if I can't just get the two Blu-ray discs.
Head to Wal-Mart then. Target would price it the same with or without the DVD as that costs pennies to them (like a Digital Copy).

Are you talking about an old release of GWTW or the BD?

Oh, gees, I was talking about the MGM DVD Doc. Sorry. GWTW...No idea if its 1 or 2 disc. Its 3 hours, right? It can fit on a BD50.

I believe he was actually referring to the MGM documentary included with both Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind.

Edit: Guess I was right.

GWTW is almost 4 hours long. I wouldn't be surprised if it's split across 2 discs. I was asking because that would be good to know when considering a 2-disc set vs. a 3-disc set or whatever.

Has anyone seen the 3-disc version at Target since release day?

Thanks. I've gone in 3 or 4 times since then with my raincheck and always come up short. Should be trucks tomorrow and Friday, so I'll keep trying.

Matching Best Buy's sale prices, both of these sets are currently $45.49 from Amazon.

i just preordered GWTW. that's not much more than what the store price will probably be, and that book looks great. not so much a fan of Oz, it can wait.

Well if there is a $20 wal-mart movie only edition I'll go for it.

You can always go for the British 3 disc version, only 15 pounds.

There will be a Target exclusive version with just the first disc for $28.99 SRP (probably around $20 street price).

Re: Wizard of Oz / Gone with the Wind coming to Blu-ray in the 4th quarter of 2009

This may have been discussed in another thread, but if it was, I missed it:

Wizard of Oz Emerald Edition BD Gets Wide Release:
Warner Home Video has announced 'The Wizard of Oz: Emerald Edition' for release on Blu-ray on December 1. When Victor Fleming's classic was released on September 29, this three-disc, no-frills set was originally a retailer exclusive, available only at Target stores. Now all bricks-and-mortar and Internet retailers will be able to stock it.

As we explained during release week on the Wizard of Oz buying guide, the Emerald Edition is comprised of three discs, and contains all the disc-based contents from the Ultimate Collector's Edition, including the six-hour MGM documentary "When the Lion Roars", but not the digital copy, or any of the collectibles.

This edition carries an MSRP of $49.99, or $35 less than the Ultimate Collector's Edition.

Re: Wizard of Oz / Gone with the Wind coming to Blu-ray in the 4th quarter of 2009

A guy over at blu-ray.com who works at Target has confirmed the one-disc movie only standard case release of GWTW there, and he took a couple pictures of the front and back of it:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.ph...2&postcount=90

Only extra feature on it is the audio commentary....I'm going to pass and hold out to see what Walmart's option will be (if they carry one)....if they don't carry a regular case version with both BDs, then it looks like I'll probably be ordering up the UK version...

FYI,

GWTW and OZ will be $12.99 during Black Friday at Target. So if you buy...hold onto your receipts!

You'll actually need to re-buy that morning and return the new one on the old receipt (or have them look it up if you used a credit card).

You won't be able to PM the BF deal using your old receipt.

My wife and I pre-bought everything we wanted last year and attempted this, but they refused. So I said, "So I have to go buy everything again and then return it? BRB..."

5 minutes later I had a full cart of newly purchased merchandise they had to restock after I returned on the old receipt. They sure showed me.

Ahh, ok, thanks! I'll just go 'find' my stuff the night before and stash them behind something in the store and swing by later in the morning and buy them

So glad I don't have to spend $35+ for GWTW. I'll grab an extra Oz and a Gremlins (returning my $22.99 version which essentially pays for GWTW). Mwuaha

Damn, I don't have my Oz receipt from my release-week purchase. I think they can do receipt lookup, though.
