Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

Are the digital copies exclusive to the BD trilogy box set? My local Best Buy had the new release of X3 out early today and from the specs on the back there was no mention of a third disc or a digital copy. The sticker on the front only mentioned the movie cash included.

interesting
this review indicates that it is included and doesn't mention that the review copy may have come from the set

All review copies that went out were included in the Trilogy box (at least from the few people I spoke to that got them). It's likely HDD posted X3 up first since the majority of the review was done in 2006 when the first BD came out.

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

I have a feeling that the individual releases don't include the 3rd, digital copy disc. Even looking at the back cover art (and specs) on DVDEmpire, they only mention 2 discs and no mention of a digital copy. I'm getting the Trilogy set anyway, but this is an interesting thing for Fox to do ...

(not that i needed another reason as i have had it pre ordered for quite sometime now) But one more reason to pick up the boxset unless you are one of those people who complain about digital copies being included with bluray releases

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

kinda pissed now as I am reading elsewhere from people who have picked these up as a trilogy or individually

the box set just makes mention that you can go online through BD-Live to purchase advance tickets for Wolverine but no indication anywhere of free tickets or movie cash

while the individual discs have a sticker on the front advertising e-cash with a code on the back to redeem

so if I am reading this correctly there is no voucher toward Wolverine in the box set but digital copies of the movies instead and the stand alones have vouchers toward Wolverine but are without digital copies

I have the box on order and wanted the movie cash and have no desire for the digital copies

also looks like you can get X1 & X2 (or other combination of titles including X3) for $35 (pre tax) from BB and get $20 in movie cash

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....&type=category

really need confirmation quick about what is in the trilogy set so I can cancel my Amazon order before it readys to ship

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

is that movie cash a best buy exclusive, since its not just for wolverine but for several big fox blockbusters?
personally for me the boxset even without movie cash(which doesnt even cover the entire cost of a single Adult movie ticket in major markets) is worth more than getting the individual releases with movie cash.

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

the movie cash is not a BB exclusive
and it was always supposed to be used toward any of those 3 movies

and adult ticket by me is $10 so if I decide I want to see Wolverine on the big screen buying the stand alones pays for it
I actually do want X3 but given the hate for this movie I should be able to pick it up for cheap later one

I'm glad. I'll be getting them separately then. I despise the 3-disc slim cases, since I always get broken ones. Plus, there are other titles in that 2/$35 list I am interested in.

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

Hmm, very interesting situation here....DVD Empire has the back cover scans up of all four releases, and the stand alones only mention a two disc set, so looks like the digital copies are exclusive to the box set....I have no use for them personally, and if the box set does not come with any movie cash, then I may need to rethink how to approach this one...
Based on that Best Buy sale, I could get the box set for $45 (after the $10 off coupon), OR I could get all three stand alone releases plus a fourth BD title, and get $40 total in movie cash for $70....$25 more, but another movie and all that movie cash, hmmm, I don't know....I am going to see Wolverine in theaters anyway, so just need to decide if Ice Age 3 is worth seeing for "free" and if there is another title I want from their list (that I don't already have)....

That BB deal is pretty damn good. I wonder if the spines match up (Xmen I and X-Men 2 along with the older X-men 3).

I doubt it, considering they are re-releasing X3....I bet they were made to match the new X3 and will not be the same as the original release....

I wish there were more titles being offered with this sale at BB....I already have all the ones I want from that list, and don't want any of the others I don't have....I might actually just snag a second copy of one of the X-men titles, take the movie cash, and then just trade it in at Moviestop or sell it on Ebay or what not....

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

I was able to pick up X1 and X2 today from Best Buy for 35 plus tax. They had the single editions out but said that the box set doesn't release until Tuesday which is incorrect since all versions (except the previous version of 3) do not release until Tuesday. Now I wonder if Amazon is going to match (or come close to) the deal that Best Buy is offering. I decided to pass on X3 in hopes that I can pick it up later with a
B1G1F from CH or another sale. I think that the 10 movie cash is reason enough to pass on the box set and its "exclusive" digital copies.

I may head to my local store soon. Someone on another board saw them out early as well. I also have a $5 reward zone coupon to use.

I'm going to wait until after the Wolverine comes out. I imagine they'll box all the X-men movies together.

I could see doin that if this was some special box contining all three movies, but they're all individually cased. So why wait?

^ Plus then by that logic you'd also be waiting for the Magneto film to be released on Blu as well.

My local store also had the individual movies out. They're with the rest of the sale titles in one of the stands in between aisles.

Re: X-Men Trilogy (9 Disc Set) --------> April, 21st 2009

Do the individual releases have slipcovers? Judging by the scans at DVDEmpire, it looks like they do. More importantly, do the individual releases use the eco-friendly cases?

Depending on the cashier or manager, you might be able to get all three of the individual releases for the same price as the box set at Best Buy. The first two can be bought for $35. The weekly ad pictures the new version of X3, Fantastic Four, Napoleon Dynamite, and Night At The Museum as part of the 2-for-$35 sale. In smaller print, it also says "or $19.99 each." So, you might be able to get the new version of X3 for $19.99, which would bring the total for all three individual releases to $54.99.
