Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
I actually just made self full color copies at Kinkos for 50 cents each and they looked fabulous. I was gonna use computer scans but this was better then expected and reasonably priced.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
cool! I may have to make an attempt to place a second order. My first order was at the maximum of 25 titles. If I do a second order, it'll be to a different US address...

Wow. This was so easy. Sent in the cover for Complete Matrix Collection last week, and the Blu-ray is in the mail, scheduled to arrive on Thursday. I sold the HD DVD version on eBay for $25, so basically a free upgrade.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
I just called them off the post-card they sent me.
Man, I'm glad I'm not in too big a hurry for these - they weren't willing to split my order for free and they also had NO ETA on when they were getting Casablanca in stock.
BTW, my local Best Buy had a bunch of these on hand AND they just got a whole bunch more in stock the other day - I only noticed because the last month or so, I keep looking at that section whenever I go to the store. How is it that a store that's not sold out gets it's stock replenished, while the actual distributor of the product doesn't even have an ETA. Seems really weird to me.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
My blu's came in today but my HD-D3 player crapped out on my yesterday. Had me worried since I had an HD DVD rented from blockbuster in the drive. I was able to get it reset to eject the disc but I think the player is toast. I'll try it out tonight and see if I can still play any (hd)DVDs or if it's gone.

"Soooo... a couple of weeks?" I says.
"Hopefully."
I just feel so reassured, now.

I finally got the shipping notice for everything but Casablanca.
For those who are being told all they can do is wait, at least ask them if they can split the order without an extra charge at the 5-6 week period, because the fine print says it may take 5-6 weeks to receive the discs. That's how I got them to split mine.

So did anyone send in the covers and not use the prepaid postage? Being in Canada, I paid for the postage and put the label on the inside. If anyone else did this, is there a way to tell if the covers were received? I would guess that the USPS tracking number would be useless and aside from calling to inquire about the status of the order, there would be no way to way, but I was curious to see if anyone else would know.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
And the wait continues... My two orders are now at 8 and 10+ weeks old. Their latest email response to me basically states, "We are clueless." They offered to split one of them for an additional shipping charge, I didn't respond.
For those of you who have, or are, received those postcards asking if you want to cancel your order... They are doing that because there is a federal law which does not allow them to take your order and hold it for more than 30 days (I think) without either fulfilling your order or allowing you to cancel.
The problem with red2blu, and what makes this completely different than common transactions like money for product, is that they have already received and accepted partial payment. They can not simply fail to fulfill or to even cancel our orders because of this fact. They asked for and accepted our HD DVD labels.
For those of you who placed small orders, or were lucky enough not to have selected the titles that Warner CLAIMS to have no stock of, kudos. For the rest of us, this has been one of the worst shopping experiences/promotions I've ever been part of. Warner has screwed this up from day one. Among other things, how Warner can claim, with a straight face no less, no stock of their very own releases is beyond comprehension. The fact that you can buy practically every title on the red2blu exchange list anyplace in the entire world, yet Warner can't get them for this promotion for over 10 weeks now is bizarre.
I've sent an email to Warner, not red2blu, asking for an explanation. Still waiting...

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
so do we have a trading area set up for covers that we don't want to redeem but someone else might? I have 6 or 7 titles that i have no desire to pay for an upgrade but i figure someone might out there. would seem to be a waste if not...

The issue with this promotion seems to be one disc (Casablanca). I could see it being "the worst shopping experience" in your life if nothing was coming back, orders were getting screwed up, people were getting damaged copies, etc. But that's not what's happening at all. I received 13 brand-new wrapped Blu-rays for about $110 total. And I got to keep the HD-DVDs. Even with the problems around The Matrix, Casablanca and Planet Earth this is nowhere near being the worst promotion of all time.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
Casablanca wasn't in my order, but I submitted 13 discs (including Planet Earth) and even though I had to split the order to ship them, I got everything within 8 weeks.

Why is it that seemingly every time there is a snafu with a company, large or small, and posts start accumulating from members of our forum regarding said snafu, other members feel the need to post that it was great for them?
I think we can all agree that for the red2blu promotion, some got lucky and some have not. I believe it well documented around the internet and on this forum that many red2blu customers have gotten less than adequate results. I can list the problems with this program very easily, as they are undisputed.
*Red2blu claims that customers will receive email confirmation that their HD DVD labels have been received by red2blu.
Reality, finally after probably a couple of thousand phone calls to red2blu asking, 'did you receive my labels?' 4 weeks or so later, a bulk email run was sent out by red2blu notifying everybody that their labels had been received.
*Red2blu claims in their promotion that 'turn around time' would be 4-5 weeks total.
Reality, many of us have now been waiting for over 10 weeks, twice as long as stated.
*Red2blu seemingly has no stock, nor the ability to get more, of Blu Ray titles that are both readily available practically everywhere in the entire world and are their very own, Warner Bros. Studio, titles.
*Red2blu held orders with a single title on back order, while simultaneously shipping other titles from that order to other customers who placed orders after earlier orders, causing earlier orders to be delayed even further because now, even though the single title that was on back order is now back in stock, a different title is now on back order, the same title that was being shipped to fulfill later orders.
*Red2blu has treated customers with delayed fulfillment differently, some being offered split shipping at no extra charge, some being offered split shipping with additional charge and still others were told that under no circumstances would their order be split going so far as stating that not only would their order not be split it could not be split.
*Red2blu has offered no explanation for their inability to provide accurate information about the delay, sometimes not even offering up the information as to what title is causing the delay (I've emailed red2blu and specifically asked which title was causing the delay, and the response I've received was the canned, 'sorry for the delay, we will ship when we get more stock, blah blah blah').
So, in light of these facts, I guess you could sit back and deem the promotion a success if you received your order in a timely fashion and at the price you liked, but for many of us we have to go by our own experience. This promotion has been a disaster for many, not all, of us. Will all of our orders be fulfilled eventually? Heck, who knows for sure?
Again, glad you had a pleasant experience, I have not.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
The other items pertaining to those of us who happened to order Casablanca, Planer Earth and/or Matrix 10th (not sure if there are other titles as well) are happening to everyone, not just me.
It's particularly frustrating to read posts where someone claims for example, 'I ordered Casablanca and it came within 5 weeks so what's the problem?'. Well the problem is the reason they received Casablanca was because red2blu sent them my copy. And, the reason my copy was available for red2blu to ship to them was that my order was being held up because Matrix 10th was on back order and red2blu made the decision not to hold copies of Casablanca for those of us who happened to have anything on back order. Now, my order is being held up because red2blu shipped Casablanca to people who placed their order after I did, and now have nothing to ship to me. I don't think I'm being overly sensitive on this matter. It's simply a piss poor way of doing things and causes 'bad blood' unnecessarily.
But, I do my best to be happy for those of you with a positive experience with the red2blu promotion, it isn't easy especially when I keep reading responses to my posts about how fantabulously glorious the red2blu program has been for them, the implication being that I'm somehow being unreasonable.
Luck all...

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program
Why don't you just have them ship the discs they want and wait on the ones that are taking awhile? I did that and received the bulk of my discs within a week, and then Planet Earth a week later. And it only cost me a few more bucks. I wrote them a grand total of three emails, and didn't feel the need to check on the status of my discs every day like some seem to want to do.
