re: Star Wars

So once again we get crappy plain bluray discs with no artwork and the UK set gets the artwork on the discs....*sigh*.....it's the BTTF set all over again....

An interesting thing I've noticed in reading some other forums: there are UK residents who envy the US getting these book-style packages, and want them rather than the actual plastic disc hubs their releases contain.

Seems weird to me, but then I am not a fan of these paper packages with sleeves either.

re: Star Wars

Since the Star Wars US set matches the Alien set, then expect the outer case to be very sturdy. This isn't some cheap cover. So it should hold up well. I'm not a big fan of the inner book style package, but there's worse packaging out there. Don't care about the disc label since I'll be looking at it for about 5 seconds each time I load the disc.

Luckily I still have 1 Target store that doesn't use security devices, so I'll be able to go there on Friday and get the set without those terrible spider security straps. Those can do damage to box sets.

re: Star Wars

Aside from the monstrosities (the darth vader NEW nooo is pretty much the only thing) is any one interested just to experience the OT in an audible and visual way like never before? I'm almost tempted, considering I just finished upgrading my audio system from "not bad" to "hellllooOOoo".

Sure...that's what rentals are for.

Yep, the OT films are at the top of my Netflix queue. I mailed a BD back today, so hopefully I will receive Star Wars: A New Hope on Friday.

Yeah I'm definitely wondering if anything will be found. Still wondering if the animated cartoon from the Holiday Special is actually included on the discs as rumored.

None of the reviews have commented on this.

The cartoon is on there, and it's not an easter egg. It's on Disc VII under the title "Boba Fett: First Look" (8:39 Minutes)"

Mine shipped yesterday and might reach me by this evening. I took off work tomorrow just to enjoy this set. I'm a Prime member btw...funny thing is I actually placed my order the day before it shipped. Prime gets pushed to the front of the line I guess.

What is the deal with artwork on the discs? What is the point? I don't look at the discs, I look at the content on the discs. All I need is a name and the disc number.

re: Star Wars

Has anyone seen a listing for this thing on steelbook anywhere in the world?

On another note: I'm really surprised more stores aren't doing a midnight opening for the release. I would imagine Wal-mart could do really well with this one at midnight since all of its stores are open 24 hours. Best Buy's really missing the boat.

I'm not really surprised, Bluray still doesn't have near the penetration that DVD has, and concurrently, the movies are already available on DVD. Combine that with the dissatisfaction over the changes and I just don't think this is going to sell as great as LFL are hoping.

I think people over-simplify the "order" of shipping at Amazon.com. You have a bunch of distribution centers spread across the country and hundreds of people running around those warehouses filling orders given to them by a computer that only cares about keeping its promise re: the estimated delivery date.

To suggest that anyone at Amazon.com cares when you placed your order or if you're a Prime member or not is pretty absurd. As a Prime member you get better shipping by default. That's what you're paying for.

I understand that and I'm aware that they have multiple shipping facities. I was just making a point that Prime members do get shipping priority. I don't think Amazon "cares" about shipping order either, like you said. Although they do seem to care about customer service a lot. They've always been very quick to remedy any issue I've ever had with them...more than most companies would.

It's on the prequel bonus disc? Weird, wild stuff.

re: Star Wars

Amazon shipped mine and never emailed me. Delivery expected today but this is for the original trilogy. I won't own those other abortions. I did enjoy the last 40 minutes of Episode 3.

Same here. I checked yesterday and it said estimate delivery was the 20th, so I canceled my 6 month old pre-order and re-ordered it. Not only did I get it shipped out for tomorrow, I also got $21.87 off of it (did we pre-pay at all when we pre-ordered? I didn't think Amazon did that)

re: Star Wars

Had a whole big fiasco with my January pre-order & Amazon modifications. In short, it's now "Shipping Soon" but a scheduled delivery date for 9/20. Really hope it ships today cause I usually get it the next day anyway. Oh well, we'll see. People that pre-ordered way in advance, be sure to check!

re: Star Wars

It's kind of funny that Episode III is the only movie in the set that is the same as the theatrical presentation. Even the wipe that was removed from the DVD release has been restored.
