I though that 2004 re-masters were already confirmed..??

So, is Luke's lightsaber still going to be green on the Millennium Falcon in A New Hope?

Also, what does "great" mean exactly? Some guy at Comic Con probably saw them on a 60 inch LCD display in torch mode from 20 feet away? C'mon.

re: Star Wars

I have a question for anyone who knows their stuff about movies being remastered for BluRay:

From what I have been reading, Lucasfilm is taking the 2004 master for the BluRay set, instead of doing a new transfer. If I pop in my 2004 DVD's and just upscale them on my BluRay Player, wont that be close to the BluRay disks that come out in Sept?

The reason I asked it as wouldn't this be a publicity nightmare if fans caught on that they aren't getting that much better quality from the 2004 DVD's? Or is Lucas banking on most SW fans wont notice?

re: Star Wars

DVD maxes out at 480p. The master is much bigger than that. Well, it should be. I think we read that Lucas only mastered the films to 1080p so Blu-Ray, in theory, is as good as it'll get with a remastering anyway.

Master -> DVD loses information

DVD -> Up-rezzed TV interpolates missing information

Master -> Blu-Ray preserves that missing information

Blu-Ray > Up-rezzed DVD

I thought that was pretty clear. Lucasfilm knows the deleted scenes are the biggest thing they've got going for them (aside from the originals), so of course they'll be in the biggest box for maximum money-moving.

re: Star Wars

This will be strictly a blu-ray release right? There is no DVD version of the box set being released right?

I wonder how significantly this could help boost consumer adoption and sales of blu.

It's entirely possible the Star Wars movies will never be released on DVD ever again.

Ehh, there's still enough DVD players out there to make it worth their while, but don't expect anything more than a budget re-release of the discs already available. Like those Fox trilogy slimpacks.

Of course if Lucas ever did decide to release restored versions of the originals, he could always make us buy them on DVD first, then re-release on Bluray.

What an excellent idea. Lets also hike the price up $5-7 and include movie cash for Red Tails.

Any word on exclusives from Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, etc.?

Gone are the days when I would read through 41 pages of Lucas raped my wallet and my childhood before I asked a question... therefore, if this question has already been answered, you have my apologies:
Will there be exclusives for this set? Also, based on previous Black Friday sales, will these be any cheaper?

In the UK, there's a Limited Edition that comes with a film cell:

http://www.whathifi.com/news/update-...aga-on-blu-ray
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-Co.../dp/B004HYH94K

Haven't heard of any US or store exclusives.

As for Black Friday, that's just speculation at this point.

re: Star Wars

From ANH that's Chief "Bast". It only sticks out because they reused the footage (with new lines dubbed in) for the Holiday Special and I believe there was one of those VHS tape based games.

I've heard of a good chunk of those, and there's a lot of stuff for ROTJ and the prequels that would go a long way towards improving those movies. Just little character beats that would take the edge off some of the other flaws.

I wish they would make a "build your own cut" version of all six films where you could drop in deleted scenes and watch it a different way each time.

The C-3PO storytelling from ROTJ is one that I always enjoyed reading in the novelization and I've always missed seeing it in the movie. There's also supposed to be more combat shots that would make the ground battle on Endor go over better with the Ewok haters.

re: Star Wars

Quick question, are the deleted scenes going to be on the individual movie discs? Cause I'm only getting the OT and have an interest in the deleted scenes.
