I emailed DVD Soon and amazon.ca ... if I hear back from either of them, I'll post here.

Looks like Momentum are porting ALL extras from the German Constantin version.
The commentary remains in R1 land for now!

This was posted from someone who claims to have the Canadian release. It was taken from the DVD Times link above...about 7 Posts down.
I'm hoping more info comes to light about the Canadian release. As of now, I'm debating between the German Premimum Release (for the DTS track - I'm a DTS Whore) or the Momentum Release because of the subtitled extras (A BIG bonus). If the DTS track shows up on the Momentum Relase, I'm all over it.

This looks like a good version.
I actually, really quite surprisingly recieved my copy of Downfall from DVDSoon (rather ironic as the last order I recieve from them), and it is indeed a 2 disc set.
However not all the extras listed above are on the 2nd disc. The 58 min making of is included, there are 22 mins of interviews with the cast, and there is a 5 min bit with the director. All have player generated subs. Oh and the main film as player generated subs as well, but the DD5.1 German track seems quite good from the little i've listened to.

Looks like Momentum have copied the German disc including the DTS track for the R2 UK market.
Note however that the excellent commentary prvided on the R1 appears to be a US/CA only option!!
Perhaps the real letdown with this disc is the suntitles option...ONLY -HOH- (hard of hearing). Lame!!!

Thanks man! Those additional texts would be a definite turnoff for me. But is it worth sacrificing over DTS & subtitled bonus materials - what should I do guys?

I would give you my honest opinion here:
I bought the German R2 Premium edition when it first came out (offering the DTS track and the un-subbed extras). The DTS track is spectacular, including a very stylish digi-pack/case. However if you are not fluent in German I think that your best bet is getting the R1 (should you care about having proper subs). Picture quality is the same, design is not, subs are forced, and....you get an excellent commentary by the director. And I mean, perfect commentary...it is so well-done...it truly adds up to an amazing film.
Of course, you could always wait for the extended German cut, but I doubt it the extras will offer English subs. Or keep an eye on R4-Aussie version and hope that they port all of the extras with proper subs for the main feature. As it is however...I would bet on the R1 and sacrifice a few extras....having the main feature after all is what you are on the market for....not the extras. For the record the 5.1 track on the R1 disc is very well-mastered as well.
Hope this helps,
Pro-B

Here's a review of the Canadian Release:
http://www.dvdcollectorshaven.ca/DVD...x?d=115207&u=1
Still debating which to get now. I was really looking forward to the Momentum release and will probably pick that one up for ALL the extras but the Canadian release was the back-up plan. After reading the review above, I'm not so sure now (PAL source and not-so-perfect subtitles).
More than likely, I'll learn to deal with the HOH subtitles. Any word on how overly detailed they are? Such as putting up the name of the person talking as well as his dialogue? Those tick me off more than anything else. I can put up with the [bomb exploding] or [woman screams] but I really hate subtitles that let us know "Hitler: Ach! Mein foot!"

This has been a great thread. It looks like I'm going to get both the UK R2 and the US R1 releases.
I haven't seen this film yet, so I hope I'm really in for something great.

Wait, so no dvd of this has good subs?
German dvd: HOH subs
British dvd: HOH subs
Canadian dvd: poorly translated subs (not to mention, poor PAL>NTSC)
American dvd: forced subs
Seems I'm gonna have to go for the American, as that seems to be the lesser evil - and it already has the hour documentary and interviews AND the commentary - what more do I need?
