A few scenes of School Ties were filmed near me in Andover MA, and then A Civil Action and the upcoming Mystic River were both filmed a couple miles from where I currently live near Woburn MA.

The mall scenes in The New Guy were filmed at Highland Mall not even a mile from my house. I was at the mall the day they were shooting. Met Vanilla Ice, but I wish I had known that Eliza Dushku was in the movie!

I used to live in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont, where some scenes from THE DEAD ZONE were filmed. Specificly the scene where the guy rapes and kills the girl in the gazebo. I'm not sure if the gazebo was already in the park or if it was built for the movie, but it's still there. I was always amused by seeing the tourists and familys sitting in there having lunch.
Fun fact: my father rented the set dressers a bunch of furniture, and the table Johnny and Herbert Lom sat at during his counciling became out kitchen table for years.

I live in the Los Feliz area in Los Angeles. Some of my favorite movies was filmed around here. Most notably most of "Swingers" was filmed in locations all around here. One of the locations for "L.A. Confidential" 'Pierce Patchett's home' was filmed in Los Feliz. And a mile or two from here many of the locations for "Mulholland Drive" was filmed. Besides the traffic I love the vibe this part of the city gives. Something very "noir" or "Chandleresque" about this part of town that a lot of filmmakers feed off on. And of course there's Griffith Park and the Griffith Park Observatory that's been used too many times to mention.

Went and watched them film the party scenes for Arlington Road in Pearland, Tx, that's right, Pearland, Tx. Got to see Jeff Bridges and Joan Cusak, and got to talk with one of the camera techs for a bit. Pretty cool to see how it all works.

Some scenes in Girl, Interrupted were filmed in Mechanicsburg and Harrisburg.

Most of the John Travolta movie, Lucky Numbers, about the scandal rigging the PA Lottery were filmed in Harrisburg.

And I think the Gotham city skyline in Batman is the Capitol skyline.

Mr. Holland's Opus was filmed at a HS I used to live next door to. Dr. Giggles is another one shot down the street from where I lived. I actually interrupted their shooting one day, which was great as they were complete buttholes.

Actually quite a few more, Portland has had a lot of films made here, the last one was The Hunted and it wreaked havoc the entire time they were here. Glad to see them go.

I was born in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland. The part in The Quiet Man, where John Wayne's train pulls into "Castletown" - I've been at that train station many times.

The tryout scenes in The Rookie were filmed at the local minor league ballpark, Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX. I had partial season tickets for a couple seasons, and our seating section is visible briefly. The stands are empty, of course, but it's a treat seeing it.

Off the top of my head, I was in SF for a day and was pretty much on The Hulk set, when they were rolling cars down the hill and bringing in the helicopter.

The upcoming film The Human Stain was largely filmed at Williams College, about five miles away from me. Several of my friends are extras in the film.

Caddyshack - The golf course is still there, right across the street from my college and Dolphins training camp in Davie, Fla.

There's Something About Mary - The high school is actually the city of Plantation's City Hall building.

Bully - The comic shop is Tate's Comics where I used to pick up my weekly stuff. They filmed the outdoor scenes at a different plaza though.

Ace Ventura - The Cannibal Corpse concert venue was a local dive in Ft. Lauderdale, I went with my best friend and his brother. Only his brother came out, just as Jim Carrey (Ace) walks in doing his head banging, he's right behind him.

Thats a few of the many movies filmed around South Florida. Oh and of course, Superfuzz was filmed here on location too

I thought of another one:

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion: At the end when they get to the prom it's supposed to be a hotel, but for whatever reason they filmed the exteriors at the Newport Beach Public Library.

When I lived in Bridgewater, NJ, the movie North came into town just to film some exterior shots of the local mall, Bridgewater Commons. It was weird seeing the trailer for the film a short time later because it was shown at the movieplex that's inside the mall. Most people in the audience did a double-take.

The local paper made a big deal out of it, putting it on the front page along the other headlines. Elijah North and Rob Reiner were there, along with the usual professional extras. But it was filmed early in the morning before the mall opened, and the extras were carrying shopping bags of stores that did not exist at the mall as the interior shots were done back in L.A.

Actually just a few minutes away, East of uptown, closer to Michigan Park (north of Whittier Blvd.).

I grew up here so I actually was able to see all of the movies I mentioned being filmed.

But uptown Whittier does resemble "any town USA" that's for sure.

I was 15 when they shot Masters of the Universe, that actually inspired me to get into the industry . A few years later I saw Steven Spielberg when he visited the Back to the Future 2 set at Whittier High School. It's not big deal today, but when your a teenager and one of your story telling heroes comes to town it can really change your life.

In my old neighborhood in LA, we lived in an area that used to be an upscale white area. The houses were/are huge houses and when the area went down they replaced some of them with Apartment buildings. About 5 of the houses are still there and here's a list of shows/films I remember out there. Mind you, these are just the ones I remember:

The People Under the Stairs. (1 house away from me)
Evil Toons. (across the street and a few houses down)
Wonder Woman. ( 1 house over to the right of us)

The mill that my grandparents spent their lives working at is the same one in Norma Rae. And most of the indoor scenes from the movie were filmed in the illustrious Golden Cherry Motel, where you can supposedly pay by the hour these days...
