Yeah, not a lot of cool stuff happens here in Oklahoma.

I had actually forgotten that The Flaming Lips' Christmas on Mars was shot in Wayne Coyne's backyard which is just a few miles from where I live. I remember driving by his house and being able to see parts of the sets and stuff.

I live not too far from the Dunsmuir House in Oakland California. They used the House in movies such as Phantasm, A View to a Kill and Burnt Offerings.

When my dad was living in Venice, CA he went out to get the paper and there was a film crew set up outside on the street shooting Hollywood Homicide. Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett were sitting in a car right in front of him.

Was that movie even filmed in Wicker Park? I remember seeing shots of the Damen/North/Mil intersection and it looked absolutely nothing like it. Same goes for the park. I think the opening shot on Wacker was the only thing that looked even remotely like Chicago.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

I had couples around here:

Kindergarten Cop - the scene where Arnold followed Crisp in the mall. That's at Main Place Mall in north Santa Ana and just 4 blocks from here. I wandered around trailers area for 30 minutes before being caught and boot me out. Timecop was also filmed there.

Rain Man - the train station at the end of movie was filmed in Santa Ana and about a mile from here.

In Small Soldiers, the part where you see a circle street, that's in Orange and about a mile and half from here.

Lot more in Santa Ana which mostly filmed at Santa Ana Courthouse (old courthouse) and John Wayne Airport.

I don't know exactly how much of each movie was filmed here, but the following had at least some scenes shot where I live:

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Deja Vu
All the Kings Men (2006)
The Fire Next Time (TV movie)
Tarzan of the Apes

When I lived in Minnesota, Angus was filmed at my high school.

In Kansas City, I suppose a few movies have been filmed here, but not too long ago Ride With the Devil was filmed not too far from where I live.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

Sandra Bullock's "The Proposal", which I think is coming out this spring, filmed about a year ago in my town. It was pretty cool, as they transformed the little downtown area into the town of Sitka, Alaska. They put up a big totem pole in the town square, and had various Alaska signs all over town. I went into town one day after I got home from work to check it out, and yes, Sandra Bullock did pass by me on the sidewalk. I think I really impressed her with my slack-jawed gawking.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

A friend of mine was producing an independent film about 15 years ago and I let him use my apartment and I convinced my mother to let them use her house and a family friend to let them use her apartment. Big mistake. Never again. What a disruption. The worst thing was when I finally saw the finished film on VHS tape (it never got any kind of a release), there was a scene where the villain rifles through the drawers of the hero's desk. Well, that desk was mine and I had no idea they were going to do that. Lucky nothing incriminating was there. But what if...?

here in Columbia, SC: they filmed parts of Kevin Bacon's Death Sentence about a mile from my house.

also, Nailed (yet to be released) with Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal. not sure of the status of this one, they stop filming a couple of times due to financing difficulties.

Yep. Also, Pompilio's (the restaurant where Hoffman counts the toothpicks) is still alive and well, and has memorabilia all over the place. I am not particularly enamored with their food, however.

well, I didn't want to brag too much.

I never knew which scene it was in. I've always meant to check out Pompilio's just for this very reason, but never have.

I was an extra in Hellraiser 3: Hell On Earth when it filmed here in the High Point/Greensboro area back in '91.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

Movies filmed fully or partially in my hometown (Harrisburg, PA):

Girl, Interrupted (hospital scene)
The Distinguished Gentleman (capitol scenes)
Major League II (Spring training scenes)
Lucky Numbers (restaurant scene)

Most are due to the state capital downtown, as well as our scenic minor league ballpark on the Susquehanna River.
Also, these were filmed fully or partially in nearby locations:

Scotland, PA
Mannequin (Camp Hill)
Witness (Lancaster County)
A whole bunch of movies and documentaries (Gettysburg)

One more sidenote: "24 - Redemption" was going to be filmed partially in Enola, PA (right across the river from here), but they backed out before production started. It'd be interesting to see how that would've doubled for the African wilderness...

Parts of Contact were filmed in my hometown. The scenes in Jodi Fosters childhood home were filmed in Herndon, VA.

^ yup, the house was down by the community center. I just remember a bunch of trucks and finding it all pretty boring.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

Not really my neighborhood, but next door to my work. It's a japanese corporate building, very sleek look to the building. They filmed:
Elizabethtown (Opening shot you can see my work building. The place where Orlando Bloom worked in the movie is the Nikken building next to my work)
Transformers (they flew a blackhawk in and landed in front of building. Though the scenes they filmed must have been in the cutting room floor)
Iron Man (they came to film 2 different times, a few weeks apart)
You Me & Dupree (my co-worker saw Owen Wilson riding his bike in the parking lot with his dog)

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

I live near, and used to live in, the Pilsen area in Chicago.

The Untouchables: The warehouse scene when Ness crashes his truck and finds nothing but umbrellas. The Exteriors were about 2 blocks away from me.

Primal Fear: Richard Gere visiting Steven Bauer in the pool hall/bar. 3 blocks away, across from my grammar school.

Wanted: They filmed scenes on 22nd and Canal. Mostly drive by stuff, but it's where the Assassin's place was as well.

The Break Up: Used a local bar, the skylark, on 22nd and halsted.

Bad Boys: The Sean Penn film. They were all over Pilsen, were filming at night right outside a church I used to attend.
