Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

Living in midtown Manhattan, there are literally hundreds of movies & TV shows shot within walking distance of my apartment.

Ironically, the one movie meant to be happening in front of my building (Phone Booth) was shot in LA.

Being from LA means that thousands of movies have been filmed there, but the one that comes the closest to where I used to live is Boogie Nights which has a lot of location shots in Reseda.

Almost forgot: Vanilla Sky had some scenes filmed at John Wayne Airport, which is 15 min from my house.

I've lived in the Washington,DC area and right now in the Bay Area, so a lot of movies, not like LA or NY, but a lot.

The Exorcist, American Graffiti, The Hulk, The Blair Witch Project, etc.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

I lived a little less than a mile from the old Chain of Rocks bridge in St. Louis, where the climatic chase took place in "Escape from New York".

I remember driving by there along Riverview Boulevard and seeing all the equipment and a large backdrop set on my side of the bridge.
I'm not sure if that just to block outside viewing or disturbances or if it was actually used as scenery. The side facing the boulevard was blank.

Do you know A Few Good Men was filmed in Crystal Cove? Mama Mia! also filmed at the beach.

Demolition Man was filmed in two places in Irvine as museum scenes.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

Secret Window was filmed in the Canadian town where my parents have a summer house. I wasn't there for any of the shooting, but they said Johnny Depp was really cool and even gave a local teenager some guitar lessons between takes! I had to wince when my Dad told me of this embarrassing exchange, though:

Dad: "My son used to watch you on 21 Jump Street all the time!"
Johnny Depp: Polite smile and nod, no verbal response.

The film itself was absolutely horrendous, but it was fun spotting the various recognizable landmarks in it: "Hey! I think that red speck in the distance is my parent's summer house!

When I was young and on Spring Break I saw Johnny Be Good being filmed in Georgetown. At least I can say I saw Tony Stark as a young man.

Re: Movies Filmed in Your Neighborhood

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre houese was filmed at the end of my neighborhood in Round Rock Texas. They've since moved the house to Fredricksberg Texas where it's now a bed and breakfast. The road at the beginning of the film where the kids are picked up is the same road where some scenes from What's Eating Gilbert Grape was filmed. Round Rock is about 15 minutes away from Austin where too many Robert Rodriguez films are made.

Hey, I remember that! Georgetown is also where they filmed My Boyfriend's Back - if anyone remembers that one. It was directed by Bob Balaban who hung out a lot at the theater I worked at.

Harold and Maude was filmed all throughout the SF Bay Area, including Redwood City and San Carlos, where I grew up.

Also, the freeway scene from Matrix Reloaded has a repeated road sign taken from Redwood City.

However, the scene was actually filmed in Alameda. I used to live off Woodside Rd. and Marsh Rd. and worked off of Whipple Ave.

I was just glancing through this thread and I saw your post. Do you live in Boston by any chance? I know Bruce Willis was there recently doing re-shoots and I have been excited about this film for quite some time now.
