Re: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace...in 3-D for 2012
Then George Lucas comes out and hands him the award, and then Vader leaves. Lucas then says, "Come see Darth Vader in 3-D next year!" And then he leaves.
I thought that Episode I was the first movie released in the theaters in 3-D?
Darth Vader isn't even in that movie????

When do we start making B.O. projections. Anyone see this making more than 40 million?
EDIT: Hmm . . . I see Lion King 3D is at $92,596,300. I haven't been following it. So maybe . . .

This isn't even a shot at Lucas or the Prequels, but I wouldn't see the OT movies in 3-D if he released them either. I am just not that big into the whole 3-D thing, so I am not boycotting this because of Lucas, I just dont get juiced to see any movie in 3-D.

One thing he never learns and he will even say. I keep killing off the wrong person (Fett, His Dad, etc).

Re: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace...in 3-D for 2012
This year was the year of buy a blue and get a ticket to see a movie. I had many left over tickets. I used some for 3D (Cap was good, Transformers, smufs). I had seen them in both 2D and 3D. If the movie was shot in real 3D then it was good if not it was bad. One of the things I did see between them. In 3D movie there is to much going on or you need to watch it more then once. At home it's not that big of a deal.

Just revisited the prequels on Blu-ray after a long time not seeing them. It's impossible to overstate how terrible those movies are. A third dimension won't help.

I've grown to tolerate AOTC and actually enjoy much (not all!) of ROTS now (I actually think it's as good as ROTJ). However, TPM is just dreadfully bad and borderline unwatchable.

Horrible poster for a horrible movie. If you pay to see this then go kill yourself.
No, I have no interesting in paying to see a 3D version of a film I've already seen many times and have on DVD.

That said, this poster looked pathetic at the theater (I at least expected a 3D look to it). It'll be lucky to do half the business the Lion King did.

I'm guessing you're right...I can't see this making more than $50 million in release, I'm guessing more along the lines of $30 million. I actually think George has NO INTENTION of releasing the Original Trilogy in 3D...he just wants to do the first three, and then he'll say they didn't make enough for him to continue with the others.
