Nolan said his biggest influence for this film was Heat, which effectively weaved the stories of multiple characters together effectively. I don't think we'll be getting another Spider-Man 3, which was disjointed because Venom was forced on Raimi by the studio.

Well, I wonder if Scarecrow is going to survive TDK... We don't know if they're going to recast The Joker or go with another rogue to replace him (The Riddler?) and the various crime bosses are so small and insignificant that it doesn't matter.

Isn't Scarecrow just a cameo anyway? Sort of a loose thread left from the first film that needs tying up but won't factor into the grand scheme of things?

Nick, I was speaking in general bat-terms, of many bat-conversations I've been in or overheard in the last 20 years-that wasn't being directed at you specifically.
Your non-bat-ignorance and dis-like of the show has been duly noted (on my bat-monitor).

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going take my bat-pod out for a spin and get some fresh air..

Okay then. For the record, I still get a kick out of that theme song, and the Batmobile is still kick-ass.

I heard the complete opposite about the fate of the Scarecrow. Who knows what will happen at this point.

Well, Begins had Rha's and the League of Shadows, Scarecrow, Falcone and the mob, Joe Chill, and a cameo by Mr. Zsasz ....

IMAX tickets are now on sale, at least in some areas:

http://www.fandango.com/thedarkknigh...129/movietimes

http://www.movietickets.com/movie_de...movie_id=62401

I got mine for the opening Saturday.. I remember Spider-Man 3 IMAX tickets sold out pretty quick last year, so get in now if you think you are going opening weekend.

In for opening night...Fandango didn't have them, but the IMAX theater I'm going to had them available on their website. Good enough for me.

This will be my first IMAX experience as well.

Just a heads up. At my Krogers this week they have bags of candy (Reese's, hershey's kisses, etc.) that are 4 for $10.00 and when you buy the 4 bags of candy you get a free ticket/voucher for an admission toward The Dark Knight.

I am trying hard to avoid any more details on the movie until it releases, but it's getting hard. I've kept up with alot since about maybe 2 weeks ago, but trying to avoid any last minute leaks for major stuff a surprise. Hopefully I can hold out. Only 4 more weeks.

When I still lived in Amherst, the Regal on Transit took FOREVER to get IMAX movies. You lucky son of a gun, I just did a search and it's not opening by me.

Did anybody see the following analysis of the films?

Granted it's with inflation, but I'm a little surprised there has been as little profit for each subseqent film. I'm also curious if those figures include marketing.

^ Does that take DVD sales/rentals into account? Also, look at the ROI on Batman & Robin (-14%) vs. BB (+36%). BB still had to deal with the terrible WOM from B&R and overcame it.

Please:
International Box Office
DVD/VHS Sales
VHS Rentals
Cable Movie Channels
ABC, NBC, CBS..TV Showings
Comics, books, Toys, Burger King (Or whatever)...

The movies made tons more money than just the USA Box Office.

Yeah, you have to take other things into consideration. Batman Begins made $25 million off of simply selling it's television airing rights. Then it made a ton more on rentals and sales on DVD, along with merchandise, etc...
