I think it was about halfway through the movie when I realized we hadn't seen Wayne Manor or the Batcave. While it might have been nice to see at least a few shots of the reconstruction, it wouldn't have worked at all with the idea of Bruce Wayne/Batman being in the thick of the insanity. When Dent says to him something about Wayne Manor not being within the city limits, I think that's a subtle (or not) clue as to why there is no Wayne Manor or Batcave in this one: for Batman to truly be troubled by what's going on he has to live within the chaos.

They could always go use the second tumbler that has not been seen, but talked about during Begins by Fox.
I have a feeling the future of the batmobile will revolve around the Mr. Reese/identity plot. I was both happy and upset when the Tumbler was brought up by Reese in TDK. After Begins everyone was pointing to how easy it would be for people to identify the Tumbler as a Wayne project and there you go.

And you're right, with the exception of the UAV in DKR, this is a very different Batmobile.
...I'm going to share a secret I've never told anyone...
...I've never actually liked any of the comic book Batmobiles
nor the consistancy with which they're used...So in this regard, I feel like the movie even on-up'ed the books. (Ducks and flees from the hypocrite-bombs sure to be flung my way)

Yeah but, it's possible that after Bruce saved Reese and after Reese acknowledged what Bruce did for him, he'll no longer be a problem.
But who knows....
Hey, maybe they'll incorporate him into the next film? After all, in this realistic Nolan-universe the idea that Fox and Fox alone can know anything about Batman/Bruce at Wayne industries is a bit of a stretch.
Like I said, who knows...

That said, correct me if I'm wrong but I think Nolan's 2 films are the only ones to NOT make drastic aesthetic changes between films. Frankly I appreciate this. I don't mind the technical addition of the batpod.

Well the Batmobile in Batman Returns was the same from '89 (the shields look different), but then to get through an alley the sides blew apart and it got skinny (sort of similar in a way to the Bat-pod, only lame).

Still, while they've always been different in the comics generally they have the same type of look, being long and sleek, sitting 2 people, with generally just variations in the fins or hood.

my preference for the third movie wouldn't be as sporty as Burton's. i think i'd just like it to be more B-2 Stealth Bomber than F-117 Stealth Fighter in appearance.

Seriously. Both times I groaned when I first saw the vehicles months before release. And BOTH times I left the theater enjoying the every-loving shit out of them. Nolan's really managed to do something special with the Bat-fleet. At this point, I'm just going to sit back and trust him (should he do a third).

My only issue with the screen is that it is a domed screen. You really wanna sit towards the back to get a good feel of the movie. We saw I am Legend there just to catch the first 6 minutes of TDK back in Decmebr and we had to sit in the second row which was just cruel.
It is a rather small theater as well, although I've never been to another Imax theater so I cannot compare. I would like to visit one with a regular screen instead of a dome to compare.
The sound was incredible as well.
