I liked the 3D. Mostly the feeling of heights. A little extra thrill in some of those scenes.

Literally no one sits and binges for 8 hours without interruption. That's the whole point of watching things at home.
Cameron strikes me as another old-school filmmaker who's up his own ass about "kids today".

I highly doubt he will cut anything longer than 3 hours. You won’t be able to sell enough shows in a day and I doubt Disney would let him do it.

Does Disney have a say? I assume Cameron has full control but I could be wrong.

Gives more meaning to when he said the sequels will make you shit yourself with your mouth wide open.

I wouldn't mind that if movies actually had a pause in the middle for bathroom breaks and refreshment refills. The fact that they don't and the fact my daughter never makes it through a whole movie is largely why theaters have basically died out on family fun nights and we haven't been to one since 2019.

JFC do we have some fucking whiners here. I have never missed anything that I felt was important when I got up to relieve myself. Unless you go alone ask what you missed when you sit back down.

Was anyone expecting this to be 90 minutes? I don’t think it’s any big surprise that this is expected to have a long run time.
I’m a fan of Cameron’s but he’s been up his own ass for at least 25 years. Probably closer to 35.
I’m more worried about attending the 4th or 5th showing of the day where numerous others have shit themselves in awe…in the same seat I’m sitting in!

I’m trying to think of what could happen in a movie that would make me “shit out of my mouth”.
And then I try to think of how that could be in an Avatar movie.
And then I realize that a filmmaker I admire has gotten high on his own supply.

There's an app called RunPee that will let you know when's the best time to take a bathroom break during a movie. You can even start it when the movie starts and it will vibrate your phone when a good spot to go pee comes up.
https://runpee.com/
But James Cameron just doesn't get it. Binging at home means you can pause at any point to go use the bathroom, get food, take a phone call, etc. You can't pause a theatrical viewing

Some just feel that yours eyes and attention should be solely devoted to their work and nothing else. I can no longer at home just sit and watch a movie and do nothing else. No movie captivates me these days like they did when I was younger.

Many do for me, but I have essentially a small movie theater and great sound. Bigger issue I have with these movie in particular is for the most part, just about all of it is CGI with retina burning colors. Then we have to sit watching what for hours at a time. Or rather several hours with some recommended pee breaks.

I make the wife and teens put their phones away when we watch movies at home. Now it's to the point where my teens will call out my wife if she pulls her phone out mid-movie at home.

I just don't take it all that seriously anymore. I will sit and watch the entirety of a movie at a theater, but your theatrical time is a small portion of your life. Being absolutely glued to a screen at home for hours on end isn't possible for me these days. Even video games with friends online only get a few hours then it's time to go. Anyways, I'll likely see this movie once it comes out despite skipping the first one in the theaters. Just hope it has a less derivative story.

I hope Cameron continues to antagonize the audience leading up to the film's release.
