He's got the jaw for it. I can't imagine the voice for Thanos but he's solid in his work from what I've seen. Will always love him for Llewelyn Moss.

Maybe the guy who played Thanos in the post-credits of the first Avengers movie is the guy actually playing Thanos. He didn't have any speaking lines in that movie, so maybe Brolin is just voicing him.

That's what I initially thought as well, but there apparently was an actual actor playing Thanos in that scene.

that's possible, too. but spader and bettany are both doing the motion cap work (at last I saw) for their respective characters, so it wouldn't surprise me if they brought Brolin in for those movies.

Deadline Hollywood says he finished his voice recording a few months ago. Usually for characters like this to work you'd want the actor doing some motion capture along with it, but maybe his screentime is limited enough just the voice was needed for now.

Is this film going to have alternate aspect ratios in IMAX 3D?

The trailer that plays before Maleficent in IMAX 3D jumps back and fourth between 1.78:1 and 2.40:1.

It looks like it's being shot on Arri Alexa in digital 2.8K, nothing about IMAX camera from what I can tell, aspect ratio appears to be 2.35 scope. Maybe just a weird encoding choice?

Thanos appears in the first act of GOTG as a hologram similar to the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back.

Thanos later appears in the flesh in a scene with his two servants, Ronan the Accuser and Nebula, both of whom are the primary villains in the movie.

Thanos only appears briefly, but his presence is palpable throughout the movie. Characters reference him often and fearfully.

The Aether and the Tesseract were confirmed as Infinity Stones in the post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World, and Loki's scepter is apparently another Infinity Stone. A fourth unnamed Stone will also be featured in GOTG.

Films like Titanic, Skyfall, Underworld: Oblivion, Prometheus, and Oblivion had their 2.40:1 image opened up to 1.78:1 for their IMAX releases. Select scenes of Tron: Legacy and The Amazing Spider-man in IMAX were opened up to 1.78:1.

All of the films mentioned (except Titanic) were shot in digital so the IMAX releases just removed the mattes. For Titanic, Cameron remastered the original Super 35 negative into 4K and framed the IMAX 3D (and Blu-ray 3D) release specifically for a 1.78:1 aspect ratio.

First review. The first half reads like a summary of the movie, so be warned about that. Big SPOILERS obviously.

a cosmic puppy. Could that be Lockjaw? I would think Lockjaw would belong to Fox with the Fantastic Four rights, but I can't think of any other cosmic puppies.

No fucking clue how they got out of the FF movie rights. Possibly cuz they are very much their own thing now?
