Waiting for JJs head to explode when he realizes he won't be able to keep his little secrets bottled up this time around...worked (mostly) with Star Trek, but Star Wars is a different animal altogether. There will probably be daily leaked pics from the shoot.

Miles Teller mentioned in an interview with Collider that he read for the movie. I don't get the buzz surrounding this dude in the slightest. Thankfully, it looks like he's already the front runner to play Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four reboot (and here I was thinking Ioan Gruffudd was too young for the part! ).

Honestly, that FF re-do sounds like it'll be an even bigger mess than the Tim Story version... and I'm even more confused why Hollywood seems to be courting this Teller kid to headline potential blockbuster franchises. The only thing I picture him starring in is a Rachel Maddow biopic.

^ he was pretty good in The Spectacular Now. But Woodley did sparkle in that even more so.

I hear the franchise is nothing but a joke now, so I'm out.

Gary Oldman says he's gotten a call about Star Wars:

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/glm8pSEmqDs?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I seem to recall he was in talks to voice General Grievous, but ended up passing. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Episode VII.

Also, Zac Efron confirmed that he did take a meeting about the movie (so score 1 for Latino Review). Hopefully nothing came of it.

Gary Oldman seems so nice and polite. Makes his transformation into Stansfield from "Leon" even more amazing.

Even Drexl is a massive transformation in persona.

He's a good chameleon.

She was on The Big Bang Theory last week. Definitely looking better than when she was all puffy.

I don't think she'll be rocking that metal bikini again though

If she's in the film at all. Some of the movie news sites (like Den of Geek) have reported that a casting call is taking place in the UK at the end of the month for the role of Princess Leia. There was speculation that this might just be a younger version of the character for a flashback (going by the other films, I doubt this) or just a smokescreen the casting agency is using to throw people off.

http://www.denofgeek.us/movies/star-...-rumour-latest

I would normally call BS on the whole thing, but the NY Post released an article over the weekend that cast some doubt on Carrie's sobriety. Apparently, a reporter observed Fisher making multiple visits to an apartment in Hollywood. A women would come out and get in her car for a few seconds, then go back inside. The article also mentions that Fisher behaved bizarrely and was bobbing her head violently. The whole investigation seems pretty shady and the reporter even shot video of one of these "meetings".

http://nypost.com/2014/02/16/carrie-...-la-apartment/

I know Lucas said the original trio would be written out of the film if the actors didn't want to appear, but this would be a different situation all together. I hope it's not as it appears, but I'll be shocked if they really go ahead and recast the part of Leia.

As for the new cast members, multiple sites (including AICN) are hearing that Jack Reynor of Transformers 4 has landed a role. I can definitely see him as a Skywalker...

Spoiler:
or a Solo...

Spoiler:

Finally, Lucasfilm put up a photo from one of the production meetings on their website. You can make out a couple pieces of concept art in the background.

Spoiler:

Notice the Falcon, as well as a rocky/river terrain (the photos hanging above those are just screencaps from the other films):

That looks like John Knoll on the far right and the back of J.J.'s head on the left. You can also see the cave scene from ESB on the television in the background.

If Carrie Fisher was recast, you could offer me 100 dollars to watch it and I would decline. I'd rather watch every Jar Jar scene on a 10 hour loop than a Star Wars film that recasts Carrie Fisher.

I have to think it's for a flashback scene (isn't that what Abrams is known for?).

Or they could be going the Star Trek Nemesis route and they're casting Leia's younger clone that's out for vengeance...

Truly, I wouldn't want to see anyone else play the role in live action... buy with Disney owning the franchise, I'm sure we'll see another interpretation of the character at some point. Princess Leia is about as iconic as Donald Duck and there is no way this company won't want to capitalize on that popularity eventually.

With a project as top secret as Episode VII, it seems curious a casting agency would be openly telling actors that the role of Princess Leia is up for grabs. I'm still not buying it... but I did have the nagging suspicion that Carrie Fisher might not be able to handle the pressure (either due to a bipolar episode, or by falling off the wagon) of a new Star Wars film. I hope I'm wrong.

Shouldn't have tried to shoehorn the original cast in anyway!

The Star Wars Saga feels like it should be composed of three trilogies, each following a different generation of the Skywalker family.

The only characters who appear in all nine films should be Artoo and Threepio.

The OT characters should be background characters in the ST. Luke should be an old Jedi Master/mentor figure to the next generation of characters, Leia should be the president of the New Republic, Han should be a general or admiral. But the primary focus should be on next generation of Skywalkers.

And that way, if Ford is uninterested in appearing and/or Fisher is too unstable, they could just put in cameos or be written out entirely. I'm sure Mark Hamill is up for it, though.

Why not? She's pretty much been shit since SW. Hamill had the Joker and he is still popular from it, in the animation world though. Ford is Ford, good or bad.

I just want a good movie. It's a great world to jump into but unfortunately it has a lot of shit. There have been some good spots though in the past 10 years too. I'm not a SW fan at all but if we can get a good movie out of this? I'm fucking there.

this might have been stated already - but at the spry age of 82 John Williams once again will be composing the film score for this episode! the man keeps cranking them out [hoozah!]

I hear Daphne Maxwell Reid has been cast as the new Princess Leia. Sarah Chalke has been cast for the flashback scenes.

ANd it won't be too hard for John Williams to reedit the same music for the seventh time.

Exactly, cash grab. When this comes out and sucks reality will sink in. It will tarnish the mystique of the OT further by having these fucking zombified looking old fossils like horrifically aging in a split second like some nazi commander who drank from the wrong cup.

How clever.

What's wrong with normal people aging normally?
