Yes, and it shows that he's willing to work with a studio and change his position. He doesn't need absolute control over a work, and he doesn't, which is contrary to you original claim that he has "total control" over the film. You never have "total control" when you're working with that much money.

I already debunked the idea that he had final cut on Mimic.

As for the test, I asked for evidence, not examples. A quote of del Toro saying, "I had final cut on that film," instead of just taking you at your word.

EDIT - He also has final cut on projects that he produced that he did not direct. He has final cut on Mamá.
Which is how it normally works, producers/studio has final cut. You're arguing the opposite, and stating that it's an ideal that del Toro shouldn't give up, even for theoretically working on Star Wars, if he was so inclined (and assuming that he couldn't get final cut on Star Wars).

I already said that he didn't have final cut on Mimic. He obviously had some sort of clout to finally get his "director's cut" of that film all these years later, though. I'll show you my evidence when you show me your evidence that he doesn't have final cut on his films. Mimic doesn't count.

QT and Robert Rodriguez are also directors who have final cut on their projects.

Or, the studio knows that commissioning a "Director's Cut" of a film is a great way to get additional revenue from a catalog title release. See Fox asking Ridley Scott to make a "Director's Cut" for Alien, even though he feels the original cut is his preferred cut and the so-called DC is merely an alternate cut he made.

Ok, from:
http://deltorofilms.com/docs/Hellboy_2_Archive.pdf
Do you have final cut of the film [Hellboy 2]?

...I DO NOT have final cut. But I would fight like crazy to preserve the film the way I want it.
So that's at least one major film he didn't have final cut on.

So GDT is now directing the SW sequel or something?

No. He was floated as a possibility, but he said he's not interested. Why So Blu? and I are just arguing a hypothetical.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Unknown, S: Unknown)

UPDATE: Zack Snyder's previously reported involvement developing a "Star Wars" film has been denied by the director's spokesperson, who states Snyder is in no way involved with the new trilogy or any spinoffs. Check out the updated story courtesy of SPINOFF ONLINE.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Unknown, S: Unknown)

Here's the official denial:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...-report-412336
In an exclusive statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Snyder's spokesperson says: "While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars. He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia.”

That means no Episode VII, VIII or IX, and no offshoot movies, the rep confirms.

Wow, even Affleck was a possible choice, too.

Too bad Affleck didn't make the cut. I've always wanted to see a Star Wars film that takes place entirely in and around Boston.

Perfect choice, cannot think of a better director. His pay check is going to be VERY BIG!!!

Lucas is a great producer, but now we have a real director!

Chances are probably good he'll land one eventually. I'm surprised.... but I'm certainly fine with it. Also if John Williams declines (I imagine he will), looks like we have Michael Giacchino as composer. He's actually the closest in style to Williams imo.

Hmmm... AICN reported the story as well, and then suddenly pulled it. Harry and Abrams are buddies. Wonder if someone jumped the gun...

The best bit of news so far is that Drew Struzan is returning to do artwork.

So much for ARGO in Space as Boba Fett has to ex-fil a group of rebels from Tatooine under the guise of a movie.

nope...per his facebook account:

"Misunderstood…

A couple of friends at Disney were fantasizing about the new STAR WARS movies.

"Disney" has said nothing to me and I expect nothing. That a couple of friends were wishing is only an expression of the hope that many are sharing but says nothing regarding the Studio itself. Even if 'they' did ask, which Disney has not, I'd rather leave the new films to the next generation to interpret. I've had my time and they were exceptional blessings for which I will forever be grateful.

Tomorrow is a new day…drew"
