This.

Is the only choice I would actively protest, I'm odd man out on Foster but I fucking hate that guy. Something about his screen presence, or maybe it's his voice, just annoys the hell out of me.

Casting is not going to please everyone, but as long as Lucas is NOT involved in the casting then everything should be fine.

His casting and directing hurt the Episodes 1-3, though I did enjoy the movies, but they could have been so much better.

Remember when Lucas planned on putting NSync into Attack of the Clones? Almost started a riot.

I'd go so far as to say that it was directing moreso than casting. Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen can be fine actors, but in the prequels? Stinkeroo!

yeah, Portman was atrocious. You could just tell she was gagging on vomit after every line she was forced to utter. The only one who acted well was the guy who played the Chancellor/Palpatine.

Um, Ewan McGregor kicked all kinds of ass in the prequels, especially II and III. But he later said in an interview that he was basically left to his own devices, because Lucas was only interested in the technical aspects.

That was all shot. I was hoping that footage would be on the Blu-Rays.

I totally forgot about that.

I could easily see Gosling or Zac Efron in Episode VII and would be fine with both. I like Efron, even though he gets the rap that he can't act since he started out on the Disney Channel.

None of these movies will be anything groundbreaking. Who would people realistically cast instead of them?

Yeah, I remember Joey Fatone saying their shots were scrapped because Star Wars fans were losing their shit over it. It was probably done because George's daughter Katie was a fan. Thank god miss "Haters gonna hate" is not in charge of casting this movie. Every time I watch the prequels I get annoyed when she pops up on screen -- especially as Anakin's friend with the braces in TPM. Apparently being a slave on Tatooine comes with a full orthodontic plan.

Actors having pearly white shining teeth always bothers me in movies or TV shows where the characters should never have such good dental care. One that recently comes to mind is the Spartacus series on Starz. I loved that series, but it always amused me how every single slave had perfectly white teeth.

It reminds me of Carrie Fisher's story about Harrison Ford saying: "George, you can type this shit, but you sure as hell can't say it."

Redlettermedia's deconstruction of the prequels is a perfect summation of everything that went wrong with them. That being said, I'm looking forward to taking my son to the new movies!

Let's not let the media darling Breaking Bad off the hook either. Jesse Pinkman has his pearly whites completely intact and straight, when in reality he should be missing a few and the rest should be yellow.

Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed at Celebration Europe that John Williams has comitted to scoring the new trilogy. God willing he'll still be around to complete it.

Nothing else major was announced (they're probably saving it for D23), other then they plan to combine real locations with special effects.

He's 81, yes, but looks great for his age. I think he can make it.

Christopher Lee is 91.

No one else should score Star Wars unless Williams is physically incapable of the job. As I said earlier in this thread or another thread, I knew Disney would bring him back. They did the right thing, while Warner dumping Williams's Superman theme off of Man of Steel was the wrong decision.

Even if Williams hadn't scored the upcoming Star Wars movies, his main theme(s) would have still been used. Williams only scored three of the eight Harry Potter movies, yet his music is used so often (and the other composers followed his style) that it seems like he scored them all.

This is over 10 years old but I just heard it today. It’s a great essay about The Phantom Menace, the historical context of its release, and the universal wrangling with the disappointment of the finished product. It's from public radio's This American Life.

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radi...al-story?act=3

I know TPM complaining and revisionism is old hat, but the guy is funny and self deprecating and does have a genuinely good idea of how the script could have been tweaked just a little bit and become something a lot better.

Ian McDiarmid rumored to return in Episode VII

Just a rumor for now, but I really don't want Palpatine to have survived ROTJ. Hopefully if he is in VII, then it will just be a flashback or Force Ghost or something.
