I meant in the live-action films. I know he's already back in the TV show.

HOLY SHIT!!!

George Takei

Friends, I am thrilled to announce that I'll be starring in the Star Wars reboot directed by JJ Abrams. I'll be playing Master Ceti Maru, a member of the Jedi High Council. The new film, entitled "Star Wars: Galactic Empire," is greenlit and will begin filming sometime early next year. It is truly a moment for The Star Alliance. Thanks to all my fans for their decades of support.

Eh, they could do worse than a cameo role got Takei.

Of course, they may just go the "scary movie" route and bring in tons of b-list celebs. The inner circle of the New Republic could consist of Ron Jeremy, Snoop Dogg, Charlie Sheen, and Paris Hilton.

At least we know what Ron Jeremy's "saber" looks like.

Ron Jeremy would make a good Hutt.

No Vanilla Ice, no sale. He was Oscar worthy in That's My Boy!

Sorry, that role has been filled by Fred Durst.

The sad thing is Ron Jeremy, Vanilla Ice and Fred Durst would all be upgrades from Hayden Christenson.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Abrams, S: The casts of Star Trek, Lost, Felicit

Disney is moving forward with more Star Wars movies, but it won’t be making any more video games based on the franchise. Employees at LucasArts were notified this morning that the Disney-owned company is discontinuing production and that its games strategy will shift to a licensing model. The decision means that more than 150 employees will be laid off, which follows pink slips in the animation division after the announcement that the TV series Star Wars: Clone Wars would be coming to an end as the company heads in a new TV direction. “After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games”, a Lucas spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday. “As a result of this change, we’ve had layoffs across the organization. We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles”. In an additional statement Disney said that “Disney Interactive looks forward to working with Lucasfilm on new games opportunities that leverage their incredible IP and brings it to life across gaming platforms.” Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4.06 billion in a deal announced October 30.

There's big buzz Disney is destroying the EU and just adhering to continuity from the movies. I say hooray to that.

In Marvel's press release announcing the start of principal photography for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, they credit one of the editors - Mary Jo Markey - as working on Episode VII. She's been an editor on most of Abrams projects, so it's not much of a surprise.

If you count the prequels as part of the EU (if you do, they're much more enjoyable), I'm OK with that.

The EU is no worse than the prequels... hell, it's better. It might even be better than RotJ.

90% of the EU is shit. I've read a lot of that material, and most of it sucked. That doesn't mean Disney should kill it. Then again, I've got no faith in Disney Star Wars films past the JJ Abrams one, and I'll bet good money by the time he's done with that one, he'll never want to be involved in another.

"Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm announced today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters in the summer of 2015 and that every summer after that will offer a "Star Wars" film, alternating with one of the standalone films."

I love SW, but this seems a bit much...

I don't mind honestly, I can see them doing concurrent filming and production, sounds like a decent way of amortizing set costs if you ask me.

They may also want to strike while the iron is hot and not lose any momentum once the first one hits.

I still don't see how they'll get Ep VII out by 2015. Seems like a big mountain to climb, but if they've already got the script and preproduction has begun in other capacities, I guess it's possible.

In a way, a SW film every year takes the series much closer to its pulp sci-fi origins than any of the sequels/prequels ever did.
