Luke get's shit-faced at Han/Leia's wedding (he's mad that Han picked Chewbacca as his best man instead of him), and see's a younger(Hayden Christenson) and older(Sebastian Shaw) force ghosts of his dad right next to each other, and thinks he is delusional from drinking too many Vodka Tonics. Lando comes over with his trophy wife he met on Tatooine after he blew up DeathStar II and tells Luke, "That's why you should be drinking Colt 45's, as this shit goes down smoothhh!!!"

It could be done with stock footage. Hayden appeared in Jedi without filming anything for it.

Hell, Marlon Brando appeared in Superman Returns.

Not saying that any of these things are good ideas, but it was just a joke to start with.

Just joking. Didn't really mean for JJ Abrams to actually film this sequence of a drunken Luke at Han/Leia's wedding.

I dunno, the Empire was a dictatorship, the dictator and his enforcer were killed, that could make a serious dent. The power vacuum would've been hopefully filled by rebel leaders that would've re-instituted the republic.

I hope the opening scroll is a comprehensive explanation of the intricacies of the political structure following the death of the Emperor. It'll be better than embargos and the taxation of trade routes!

I really like those helmet designs, especially the second one.

It's times like this I'm happy to not hold the OT so precious that I cannot allow myself to enjoy anything coming out of these new films. How the Empire/Stormtroopers are still around after Jedi will, I'm sure, be sufficiently explained.

Even if it's not the Empire, it's possible black-and-white is the most popular armor design in the galaxy. Even the guys on the Tantive IV or whatever Princess Leia's ship is called in Episode IV had that kind of helmet.

Latino Review have a new report that claims the villain(s) in the movie are:

http://www.latino-review.com/news/ex...lains-revealed

Spoiler:
"Inquistors", much like what will be seen in the upcoming Rebels cartoon series. The article describes them as "defenders of the Sith Order". I'm already doubting this, as some sources have confirmed the series will have no direct ties/influence on Episode VII's plotline.

The report goes on to claim that a scene featuring Luke explaining the history of the Inquisitors will transition into a flashback sequence featuring Darth Vader and "a much younger Princess Leia than we've ever seen before" (to be played by Carrie Fisher's daughter Billie Lourd). That alone just screams bullshit to me. Flashbacks and Star Wars movies do not go together, imo. If we were really going to see a very young Leia, I'm sure the casting director could find someone who looked more like Fisher then her actual daughter does. Plus, Billie is 22 -- the same age as Carrie when she filmed Empire.

IndieRevolver continues with their "leaks". This is supposedly concept art of the main villain (though it looks a bit like fan art to me).

Spoiler:
This guy is supposed to be half cyborg. Reminds me of Klytus from Flash Gordon.

This bullshit about helmet designs is worse than the arguments about the paint being chipped on Captain America's shield. We're getting a new Star Wars movie and for the first time in decades it may not suck! Who gives a shit if the helmets look totally new or not? Just give me a movie that doesn't insult my fucking intelligence. Jesus titty fucking Christ I hate the internet sometimes.

That was my point ... designs that work backwards from where they should logically be are an insult to my intelligence. Many of the designs from Episodes 1-3 looked far more advanced than those in 4-6 despite the timeline.

You do realize that J.J. Abrams is directing this, right?

Lens flare everywhere and a lack of narrative structure. Sounds good!

Yeah, you made a terrible nitpicky point. Hell, it takes place 30 years after ROTJ, right? Maybe those looks are retro now. Who cares as long as the movie doesn't suck? If stuff like this takes you out of the movie, then you have bigger issues than the designs of helmets.

"I was a stormtrooper before it was cool."

I love how some people have decided the movie will be terrible based on preliminary sketches that may not be authentic in the first place. Anything has to be a step up from the prequels.

VII could be better than Empire and the internet will still be rife with people who think it sucks because the color shading on Chewie's mane isn't properly aged in accordance with how long Wookie's live.

Agreed. All this pre-nitpicking? As Henry Jones, Sr. said, "Let it go."

Plus, as the Futurama crew might sing:

To be fair, though, the OT and PT are two very different things. The PT involves high level politics and royalty, while the OT are mostly war movies centering on a band of ragtag rebels with battle-scarred ships.

The PT takes place in the halls of power (Naboo, Coruscant, etc) while the PT takes place either in outer fringes (Tattooine, Hoth, Dagobagh, Endor) or on Empire spaceships and battle stations that are built with function in mind and not form).

Now, the real world reason for the different aesthetic is because the trilogies were filmed two decades apart, and the budgets increased and the special effects technology had improved, but from a storyline perspective it still tracks.

ugh... first, let me say that he PT sucked and I am not an apologist for those three shitty movies, but I can't stand when people complain about the "more advanced designs" in the PT vs the OT. There is precedent set in our own fucking history. Here...

1930s vehicle

you tell me which one looks "more advanced".

There are PLENTY of things to pick on with the PT, but design aesthetic is not one of them.
