apparently the younger guy from Magic Mike auditioned for a role... looks like a Skywalker to me.

Yeah I just looked her up too. Beautiful girl, and I can even see a little bit of a resemblance to Carrie Fisher in some of the pics. Never seen her in anything before, but she certainly looks the part.

The 2004 Peter Pan flick was fantastic, and she was great in it. She was a child, but she brought the goods.

Hurd-Wood was actually my top choice for the female lead after I read the casting sheet, so I will be extremely pleased if this report has even a shred of truth to it. Pettyfer would be fine as well. I'm not overly excited by what I've seen of his work, but at least it would be a step up from Zac Efron (for me, anyway).

Not really. Video games still aren't even Toy Story quality yet.

I'm not really much into console gaming. I'm mostly a PC gamer, and I believe even the big graphical monsters like Crysis and Metro 2033 aren't quite Hollywood CGI quality. Toy Story, Jurassic Park, and even T2 still have better graphics.

Its the little things that really show this. Video game hair sucks. I have never seen a video game where the characters have hair that looks even remotely good. If you look closely enough, you can still see the polygons that make up video game characters. You can't notice polygons in Hollywood movies. Likewise, textures in video games aren't quite as good as movies either.

Yea she was great in that too. I haven't seen that in a long time.... I remember really loving the first half, then it went downhill in it's second half. I think it's time to revisit that.

Several geek sites are tweeting hints of some impending news regarding Episode VII and that they are being asked to sit on it until Lucasfilm makes an official announcement (like that's ever stopped them before ). Apparently the news has been brewing for a day or two and is not related to the big three returning.

Could be anything (title, release date) but if it's really being suppressed, I suspect they've cast a big name actor in a lead role and are waiting until the ink is dry on their contract. Hopefully it's not Dicaprio.

I'm not too thrilled about Alex Pettyfer. He was decent in Magic Mike but none too memorable. However, I'm not opposed to being pleasantly surprised.

I need to see that flick. I wish they'd given her more to do in Solomon Kane.

And Kyle Newman is tweeting that it's not good news.

The Disney-Star Wars news is kind of weird.

We're all sort of feeling optimistic now that the franchise is out of the clutches of Darth George, but still, it's Disney so it's still kind of a wild card.

We're all hoping for the best, but those pictures of Mickey Mouse holding a lightsabre they released don't exactly fill one with confidence that Disney is going to handle the Star Wars franchise in a dignified manner.

Aren't those fan mock-ups? I don't think Disney has officially shown anything like that, but maybe I just don't remember it right.

Also remember that Disney is behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mickey Mouse didn't become an Avenger fighting alongside Iron Man. All of the Avengers movies have been good (so far).

I recall all the furor over the possibility of DiCaprio being cast as Anakin in the prequels, and then after Hayden everybody was like "maybe Leo would have been better...."

A few years ago, word got out that Topher Grace had re-edited the prequels into a 94 minute movie and was showing it at parties. I'm a fan of all three movies, but I'd still love to see this.

As for the news, I'm betting they're going to totally ignore all the EU and go with something new. It's a damn shame, I realize the EU may be a bit convoluted, but I still think you could grab one story arc and make a trilogy out of it without needing to trash the whole rest of it.

(But then I still think Abrams could have slotted his Trek movies into existing continuity and they would have been better, so what do I know.)

Well I seriously doubt they would be releasing the title. Lucas always waited fairly late in the filming process before he announced a title and I can't imagine they would do it now without any filming done or even actors named.
