Second time and the last time I will see this.
Lost interest in the plot and a bore.
Dakota Fanning is 24 years old now which makes you feel old.
Looked like the right movie to watch on a cloudy night but it was average.

Rome (2009-10)
I had heard a lot of positive reviews about this but was rather disapointed. I didn't care much for the extravagant (and hardly credible) adventures of the two leading characters and the historical political depiction of the republic was somewhat flawed. This just confirms for me that I really am a film lover and not so much a TV fan.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Alden Ehrenreich's performance goes from flat to uneven but so much surrounding him is enjoyable regardless.

Interesting story about Presidential power and a free press. Felt it was a bit long but a good story none-the-less.

Daphne and Velma (2018) — I guess this is still a money-maker for Warner Brothers as this it yet another live action prequel. That said, it actually wasn't terrible and I did manage to chuckle a few times and the cringe-moments were kept at a minimum. **¾/*****

Damn. I've owned this for years and have always been meaning to watch it...I'm sure I'll get around to it but you're not the first person that said it was a bit disappointing...I intend to finish The Deuce first, which is a great show so far...If you were a fan of The Wire, you'll probably like it...

The Devil-Ship Pirates (1964)
Enjoyable Hammer pirate yarn with Christopher Lee as spanish pirate who enrolls his ship with the Spanish Armada but then decides to flee when the English defeat the Spaniards. He hides in a remote british inlet and terrorises the locals who haven't heard the news about the English victory yet...

Logan (2017)
Although I like most X-Men films (yeah, I know!) I was never a fan of Wolverine. Certainly not of his solo outings. This was quite a different take on the genre. Almost more psychological drama than action film, lots of interesting questions and great performance by Patrick Stewart. Really enjoyed it.
In an alternative future, most mutants have died. Logan and a sick Prof Xavier are hiding out trying to survive. When a young mutant comes to them for help, Wolverine doesn't want anything to do with her. But the wheels are in motion...

Seven Psychopaths (2012)
Having enjoed MArtin McDonagh's two other films (In Bruges & 3 Billboards outside Ebbing Mss) I had this one on my radar for a while. The weakest of the three, but still with enough great dialogues and weird characters to make it worthwhile. Great performances by Farrell, Rockwell and Walken.

Malpertuis (1972)
Another I had on the radar for years, having read the weird book when I was younger. But with copies going for 150$ on Amazon I waited till I found it on a viewing site based in Tonga! Yes, not very legal I'm afraid. But at least I got to see it.
As bizarre as the book, with some great bits and not so great ones. Good 70s french 'fantastique'.
A young sailor comes back to his home town and gets stuck in an evil house full of strange murderous relatives and fantastic creatures. When the uncle dies (Orson Welles) his will contains all sorts of restraining clauses that make life in Malpertuis even more strange and dangerous...

Solo - I thought it was fantastic and many scenes put a smile on my face. A few folks clapped at the end as this was definitely a win as far as this Star Wars fan is concerned.

Game Night...so much fun. Great blend of humor, dark humor, characters (though Ryan character’s schtick got annoying all the time), action, twists, turns, just a lot of fun. A movie that knows it’s a comedy at heart, but meant to play to more. Not sure how this did overall, but I know RT score was low 80’s I believe.
Anyway, just enjoyable and funny throughout with a mix of everything else.

Beyond Skyline - Netflix. A surprisingly entertaining film that stars Frank Grillo and that woman from the CBS show Instinct, both a plus in my book.

Love this movie and feels it gets better with multiple viewings. It's very meta, and I felt I missed all lot of little things the first time I watched...Ended up watching it on the movie channel again several months later and was much more impressed...I'll still watch it once or twice a year...Rockwell, Harrelson, and Farrell were all great...

I knew nothing of this film until I read the summary and saw some random stills. The production design, cinematography are all top-notch and it was also co-written by Natalie Dormer. It was a cool little thriller. I see that the only option to own the film in HD is via digital means and the DVD will be available in a month -- no Blu-ray release. If you get a chance then I highly recommend it. It's also playing in limited release.

Gringo (2018) — Funny enough dark comedy propelled by a great cast rather than the story. 3.5/5

My Perfect Romance - Netflix. A Netflix Valentine's day original that I apparently missed when it aired earlier this year? Anyway, I enjoyed it as well as some of my fave Hallmark/Lifetime holiday themed originals.
The Decoy Bride - Netflix. A nice breezy watch, and it does not overstay its welcome at a brisk 89 minute runtime (Judd Apatow should re-watch this film every time he sits down in the editing bay to put together his latest rom-com).

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988)
Saw a 35mm Print at the Alamo Drafthouse. Flawed film with occasional bursts of entertainment & Kane Hodder.
MPAA also cut this film to hell.

The Kissing Booth - Netflix. Fun fact, Deadline has a story up on Ted Sarandos's appearance at the Paley Center For Media where he mentions to the audience, wait...lemme just cut/paste his reply:
"He asked the audience of a few dozen people if any had seen it. One hand went up. Sarandos explained that it was “one of the most watched movies in the world right now” and No. 4 in IMDB rankings behind tentpole releases like Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story and Avengers: Infinity War."
Incredible, I am not the target audience but I did enjoy the film for what it is. The above quote explains so much as to why Netflix is spending gobs of cash on original content as it clearly keeps a large chunk of Netflix subscribers from cancelling after their 30 day trial is up.
