Get Carter (1971)
Lovely 70s british revenge film with Michael Caine as a hoodlum who wants the people responsible for his brother's death taken down. Very slow and stylish and effective instead of the more modern approach in action films of "all guns blazing".

The Quiet Ones (2014)
Very ordinary 'haunted house' film by reborn Hammer films. Supposedly based on a university experience where students felt a "presence" in such a house. Experience that was later proven inconclusive. As is the film!

Risky Business (1983)
A favorite from my youth. Tom Cruise, who can't act (there's a difference between charisma, star-power and talent!), in his best performance ever (along with Magnolia I'd say) as the young student whose life is turned upside down when he meets an escort with pimp problems. Rebecca DeMornay was hot then for us teenagers!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Amusing and entertaining as it should be. The parallel stories (Rogue One and this) are much better than the new Star Wars saga entries (which are thinly veiled copies of 4 & 5...)
Although the two main actors were rather so-so (Emilia Clarke and Alden Ehrenreich), the young Lando (Donald Glover) was right on.

The Street Fighter (1974)
Sonny Chiba power! I can never guess if his films were made with a hint of humor or are ridiculously over the top for real. The awfully funny dubbing doesn't help me make up my mind as well.
Cool/Bad karate film with Chiba as master of unique technique taking on a bodyguard job to a beautiful heiress and fighting half of Japan's mafia.

Maybe this was the beginning of the end for Zellweger's movie career in 2009 or one of her last movies that was released in the theater before she went MIA.
Maybe Laura Dern gets nominated for a Emmy. Jason Ritter played a creep and this could have been one of John Heard's final movie roles.

A bit scatter-brained but it's best moments revel in full-on elements of sleaze & exploitation elements.

Black Panther
Fun movie with a great cast. Not quite as impressive as I was expecting based on all the hype and the monster box office, but I enjoyed it.

Jurassic Park - Lost World
Typical sequel in that it fails to deliver the excitement of the original but still has plenty of dinos, carnage and come-upance for the greedy InGen President. I watched this movie in 4K then put in the BR to watch a few scenes for comparison. The color pallette was very close. The detail on the 4K is simply stunning compared to the BR. I focused on several of the dino scenes and the skin textures are off the charts on the 4K disc. This movie really loses steam when it leaves the island and come to the mainland. I always felt it devolved into one of the old Japanese saturday afternoon monster movies.

Deadpool 2 (2018)
Although entertaining, the freshness of the first one is now reheated gags, characters and style. Which made it a less fun experience for me. Some of the side lines were unnecessary (like Colossus and X-Men) and feel like they were just there to prompt the X-Force film coming up. Cable was nice but overall weaker than the first film.

Ra-One (2011)
My first ever Bollywood experience. I was tempted by the scifi/gamer script and looks so I'd thought it'd be perfect to lose my Bollywood virginity!
Although surprisingly amusing, with abundant special effects and big budget action, lots of sex jokes and innuendo, and hilariously cheezy musical numbers (all of them VERY passé when it comes to men/women relationships and respect for the later) the overall film experience was not memorable. Glad I saw one of those, don't know if I can judge the rest of them by this single experience but the clips I saw from other films make me think its pretty much the template.

Not a fan of AJ Swanberg or the drawn-out final act but the Jonestown-influenced material was interesting.

In the countless times that I've watched this film, I've never grown tired of it. An absolutely thrilling 162 minutes.

The film's final 40-minutes are a bit of a mixed bag, even with that nutty final act.

The Paper (1994)...better than I ever remembered. i think i saw in theaters, but remembered nothing, but that i liked it. watching it again had me giggling and laughing. great lines, story, actors, everything was on point. loved those days of simple, great ensemble cast movies such as this. they happen once in awhile, but not enough. this was a tough year with all the blockbusters then, but this should have made a bigger splash. this was Spotlight, before Spotlight. anyway, just so enjoyable and fun.

Tiresia - 4/5
A Brazilian transsexual prostitute living in France is kidnapped by a man who’s obsessed with her. After being withdrawn from hormone therapy, she slowly starts to turn back into a male, leading to tragic consequences. Not an easy film to digest, but in the end I found it to be very intriguing and rewarding.

Although certain sections of the film are exhilarating, more often than not, the film is a bit tedious.

I don't think you can classify this as a typical Bollywood film but you might check this out.
