The Addiction (1995) — A bit meandering but interesting philosophical take on the vampire genre with an amazing performance by Lili Taylor and, albeit a brief <10 minute appearance, from Christopher Walken. Not sure I would clamor to revisit but it is different and the black & white photography looked amazing. 3.25/5

Pyewacket (2018)
It takes 60 minutes for anything significant to happen in this film and when things finally get interesting, the film is already at its end.

Wildling (2018)
Solid performance by Bel Powley.
Enjoyed the first 30-40 minutes of the film. Too bad the rest of the film transforms into a fairly generic Coming-of-Age/Monster Movie mash-up.

Maybe they could do a remake with updated special effects since Hollywood remakes almost everything and this came out in 1984 so probably nobody remembers this movie.
This was pretty good but if you think you are going to see a lot of murders you will be disappointed.
The guy is such a freak maybe somebody could do a movie on his entire life and crimes and that would be scarier than any Saw movie.
Did not know the mom was Anne Heche until she took off her glasses.

The Endless...absolutely terrible and looked and felt completely amateurish. The look was not theatrical. Spring was much better looking and I don’t remember the muddled mess this was. I still have no idea what happened in this outside ufo cult and don’t really care.

Sweet Virginia - 4/5
A woman hires an out of town hit man to murder her husband and finds herself getting into more than what she bargained for when two witness are also killed. On top of that she realizes that her dead husbands estate is in debt and she has no way to pay for the services that were rendered. Moody well made small town neo-noir that reminded me a bit of the Coen Brothers.

I saw the Dahmer Renner movie.
It seemed kind of tame for all the crimes he committed.
Not the first movie you think of for a July 4th viewing but worth a revisit.

The Monster Squad - Hulu. What a wonderful film. I have a Press Kit signed by the Director and Cast so this film obviously holds a special place in my heart.
Evolution - Hulu. I still love this film...saw it in theaters way back and I have seen it several times since. It look fantastic in HD.

Any movie opening with "Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden is ok with me.
Cliff Scab
Surprised so many stars in this movie like John Lithgow, Kevin Kline, Harold Ramis, Chevy Chase, Lily Tomlin, and Gary Marshall and what comedy would be complete without Leslie Mann.

The Todd Killings - 3.5/5
In this disturbing tale of bored impressionable youth, a charismatic man in his early 20’s becomes a cult like leader to the local teenagers. Well made film, but I wish it would’ve gotten more inside the head of its sociopathic protagonist.

Traffik (2018) — A lot better than I expected and Paula Patton continues to prove to be a kick ass actress. Some of the dialogue was pretty bad but otherwise pretty entertaining thriller. 3.75/5

Singularity (2017) on Netflix, an idiotic post-apocalyptic movie about a sentient AI called <del>Skynet</del> Kronos that decides to bring about world peace by eliminating humanity with robot warfare. The majority of its running time is spent following two people through the woods as they attempt to locate the last remaining human stronghold using a GPS device that is conveniently separate from all other interconnected devices 97 years later. Cusack collects an easy paycheck by looking at monitors and talking to the camera for a total of ten minutes, and the rest of the budget was apparently spent on the acceptable VFX clustered in the first and last few minutes.

The First Purge (2018)
In a somewhat rare occurrence, a Prequel gets an opportunity to go in a multitude of directions. James DeMonaco's script squanders this opportunity and takes the lazy route of mirroring the current Political Climate.
Y'Lan Noel is clearly the best part of this film.

Bullet Head (2017)
It's great to see Paul Solet return to Directing & Writing after 8 years.
Unfortunately, his return film isn't without its faults. Consistent flashbacks effectively halt any momentum the film's premise has going for it.
A film about a heist gone awry involving a Dog-Fighting Pitbull should be been a bit more entertaining.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
If memory serves, the first one was basic entertainment but enjoyable nonetheless, whereas this goes in all directions of sillyness and over the top action. Characters are lame and actors like Juliane Moore or Halle Berry are wasted in a bad script. Taron Eggerton is also not very good nor charismatic. He was much better in "Eddie the Eagle". I can't believe they are already talking about a third installment.

Masque of the Red Death (1964)
Another Roger Corman/Vincent Price/Edgar Allen Poe film from the 60s. Rather slow and more philosophical (and psychedelic) then the other entries in the series but still a fun watch. Interesting to know that Corman delayed shooting this one by a few years as his script had similarities to Bergman's "Seventh Seal" (namely the portrayal of death) and he didn't want to seem like he copied the swedish master.

Les revenants (2010)
Very interesting take on the living-dead films. No gore, no horror, but psychological turmoil aplenty. One day, without reason, millions of people recently dead come back to life, fresh as the day they had died. The film ponders about the effects of loved ones and society in general trying to cope with this phenomenon both a blessing but also a curse.

Godzilla 2000 (2000!)
Rather bad upteenth entry (reboot?) in the Japanese franchise. This time, the big lizard faces a UFO that has lain dormant for million of years at the bottom of the seaa and was recently awakened by marine scientists. Eveything in the script is either predictable or totally bizarre.

Real Genius (1985)
It was recently posted on Netflix. I hadn't seen this since probably 1986 or 87. So I recalled nothing about the plot. Honestly other than the sorta nostalgia factor and a decent 80's soundtrack, this movie was pretty corny and a little dumb. It hasn't aged well and maybe that's why as a 44 year old it didn't really resonate with me now. Plus, HD picture didn't look that great and looked like it was upconverted from SD.
It was kind of cool hearing "Everybody wants to rule the world" as the end credits song.

Too bad there's no Blu-ray anywhere but the Digital HD version on VUDU is good enough for me. Would love to see a special edition BD someday - maybe one of niche labels can put one out.

Damn... great movie. Tight as a drum, and one of the first in a LONG time that made me want to immediately rewatch it. I know I missed a lot during my first viewing, stuff I'm hoping to catch with repeated viewings.

The Prestige was awesome.
Could not believe at the time people thought the Illusionist was the better movie dealing with magic.
