Tobey will probably never give a performance as great as he did in this movie.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

Many of the interactions between Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah & Rodan are quite fun to look at but the film is a terribly written, unfunny mess.

Only Angels Have Wings (1939) - directed by Howard Hawks and starring Cary Grant and Jean Arthur, with Rita Hayworth in on of her early roles. It's about pilots of a small airmail delivery company based out of South America. I enjoyed it.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019) — If this movie was called 'The Haunting of Karen Slate', it just would be another terrible On Demand/DTV movie that I come across numerous times a year (many distributed by Lionsgate), but taking a real-life event, and one involving brutal murders, takes it to another level. This was just awful with a confusing plot, horrible dialogue, pedestrian direction (putting it kindly) and bad acting, particularly on Hillary Duff's part.

If it weren't so disrespectful to the families involved, I would find part of this to be unintentionally funny, but can't even give it that much.

I know the Razzies are a joke, but this one deserves all the hate that has come its way. This is one that should've remained on the dusty shelves in some nondescript basement office, or better yet, destroy the prints. 0/5

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Maybe now it is official Travolta has entered Nic Cage and John Cucask territory and will take any role for a paycheck.

Not a fan of her music but Shania Twain was smoking hot. Maybe if Travolta banged her on his Mustang the movie would have been entertaining.

Kevin Dunn was virtually unrecognizable but he gave a good performance like he usually does as one of the more underrated charactor actors though this movie was a piece of shit.

Suspiria (1977)

I've watched this film countless times and never grow tired of it.

Very fortunate to have the 4K Restoration Blu-Ray on my shelves.

The Illusionist (2006) — Seen this movie several times over the years and still find it so entertaining and satisfying thanks in large part to Edward Norton's performance. In some ways, although not as expertly directed, I prefer this over The Prestige, which is a great movie in its own right. 4.5/5

I saw both back to back when they came out and I tend to mix them in my head. Is this the one with the magical orange tree?

The Deadly Bees (1966)

Funny camp B-movie from Amicus (rivals of Hammer) with cheesy sfx but fun ambiance. A starlet suffers a breakdown and is sent to an isolated island to rest. But little does she know that one of the two bee keepers in the village has trained his bees to kill people...

Time After Time (1979)

I recently bought a cool book of 'The 101 Science-Fiction Films You Must See' and this was one of them. I had seen it way back but it was nice to revisit. McDowell was quite good as the ever-curious H.G. Wells trying to figure out the 20th century but the love story took too much space and slowed the pace down too much. I thought the interesting bit was the chase in time between Wells and Jack the Ripper but that sort of became secondary to the dramatic love blooming. Still, well worth a look.
And for the record, the two stars did marry after the film!

Godzilla King of Monsters (2019)

MOstly awful like its predecessor. I hate films where the heroes are everywhere and witness all the important bits of the story without getting a scratch when dozens die around them!

Iron Monkey (1993)

Fun and lighter 'Crouching Tiger'-type film. Some good fights and aerial stunts and humour.
In a small town run by a corrupt official, a masked vigilante plays Robin Hood...

Uzak (Distant) (2002)

Another slow and contemplative turkish film. A freelance photographer living in Istanbul puts up a neighbour from his remote village. After a while, the two different men start getting on each others nerves.
Not bad but nothing special.

Monster Trucks (2016)

Obvious script with all the cliches you can imagine but still well made and brainlessly entertaining for the kids (and me!)
A high school outcast who works at a scrap yard befriends an unknown creature escaped from the nearby oil drilling site. He hides it in his pick-up truck and the creature doubles as engine and comic relief. Bad guys want the thing and hero and girl will prevent them (and end up together!)

Shanghai Knights (2003)

Usual formula for Jackie Chan pairing with US comedian. Entertaining but unoriginal.

Batman Forever

I thought maybe watching this in HD and on a 65" screen will make it more enjoyable but it is still a mediocre movie.

Funny this was probably considered cutting edge back in 1995

The Blu-ray transfer is not that great and Warner Bros is this huge company and they have the worst blu-ray conversions of all the studios that make Blu-rays.

Nicole Kidman was at her peak hotness in this movie.

I saw this years ago but had forgotten about it. I remember liking it though. Thanks for the souvenir!

The designs showed it was some sort of mechanical device. But the visual effects on it was not good.

A good movie and bonus topless scenes with Moore if you need that to entice you to see this movie.

The Sitter (aka Darkness Wakes) (2017) — Some okay atmosphere amongst terrible jump scares and fake-outs, before getting to a terrible finale. Aisling Knight at least wasn't bad. 1.25/5

Ewan bangs every woman he sees in this movie and if you are female he shows his piece.

Mortimer what a bod.

A rare NC-17 movie

I thought maybe I had my fill of Ali docs but this was pretty good.
