I said it in the Arrow Thread already... dump the creative behind this. Bring over those people. It will succeed.

Geoff Johns working on the DC movies? It could certainly lead them in the right direction, but it doesn't seem likely.

You're right. It won't happen. Because it makes sense.

DC movies are too dark and joyless? Geoff Johns would sure fix that. A few characters dying or getting their limbs ripped off is just the ticket!

Latino Review. Must be true. Just like their rabid confirmations of an all-CGI Justice League movie called "American Heroes" that everyone lost their shit over

They've been right a lot as well...they were the first to break the news that Harrison Ford was going to be in the new STAR WARS movie.

They're also shameless fucking attention whores. Whenever they post the most off-beat, insane, made-up bullshit that everyone and their mother reposts (and screams blood foul over), they keep the momentum going with even more outrageous swill just to keep people coming back.

You're better off asking your Tante Helen for the latest breaking superhero movie information.

That one isn't a particularly huge stretch though.

Yeah. Why would we want one of the best comic writers of the past decade, who revitalized characters like Green Lantern, The Flash, Justice Society, and Teen Titans, who is a walking comic book encyclopedia and was a former intern under Richard Donner, who's written TV episodes that were really popular with comic fans. Especially when we have knowledgeable executives like the one who said "Does Green Lantern really have to wear that ring?"

I think right around when he took over Teen Titans Geoff Johns changed a lot as a writer. He started taking things in a very dark direction, and the joy and excitement I felt in a book like Justice Society was replaced with endless moments of shock/endless varieties of color schemes.

I won't deny that he's one of the most popular writers working today, but I won't equate that with one of the best. But hey, maybe Marvel will hire him and we can get a brilliant "Dell Rusk" reveal in Avengers 2.

Well, this was long before anyone knew the new movies would bring back old characters...I believe it was even before JJ was announced as the director.

To be fair ... being correct doesn't mean it is right.

Very few Superman fans are happy with Eisenberg's casting as Lex. I think WB is able to realize that and separate it from the Internet's overreaction to Affleck as Batman.

I think the difference between the outrage at Affleck for Batman is that most fans who are or were upset over his casting have a hard time looking past his older work and don't realize that he's come into his own a lot more over the past few years as a good actor and director. I think at the end of the day with him it's not so much he doesn't fit the part they're just skeptical of his talent. The casting of Eisenberg as Luthor on the other hand is just weird and really doesn't seem to fit. He's a good enough actor but in that role I just can't see it at all and compared to some of the names that were being tossed around the choice of him is just kind of baffling.

Batman Vs. Superman Will Be Influenced By The Dark Knight Returns
The Man of Steel sequel will borrow from the Frank Miller comic.
by Anthony Couto
February 10, 2014

Details about Batman in the Man of Steel sequel are reaching J.J. Abrams-level secrecy. Kevin Smith has given hints as to what the batsuit will look like in Batman Vs. Superman, but beyond that, Batfleck has been shrouded in mystery. Now, director Zack Snyder confirms the film's Batman will be influenced by The Dark Knight Returns.

A passage from the classic Frank Miller graphic novel was used to announce the film at last summer's San Diego Comic-Con.

In an interview with the French outlet Popcorn Magazine, Snyder was asked if the film will be a direct adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. Snyder urged that it was not, however, he told them, “…the comic book will influence the history of Batman Vs. Superman, on which the writer David S. Goyer and myself will work.”

Snyder goes on to tell Popcorn that Ben Affleck will play an “older” and “more advised man” than Henry Cavill’s Superman, in the film. However, he notes that Affleck’s Batman will retain the charm of Bruce Wayne.

Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is known for painting the darkest version of Batman, up until that time. In that story, a 50-something-year-old Batman has become a grizzled and militaristic vigilante, contrasted with Superman, who has become a “golden boy” and government pawn.

It’s likely the film will explore the difference in Batman and Superman’s sense of justice and trust in the government/corporate world, where we Lexpect Jesse Eisneberg’s Luthor will then come into play.

Older and more advised man has been his mainstay now for the past million movies.

Exactly. 2 people were talking in the break room today about the film. One says "They got the worst actor ever to play Batman. Ben Affleck was terrible in Daredevil"

That speech is old and tired.

So the Man of Steel sequel is based off of a Batman story? This thing still leaves me a bit confused.

Does this mean they will actually credit Miller's Dark Knight returns in the movie (I don't believe X2, for example, ever credited Claremont).

Was there any confirmation on Affleck being unhappy with the script?
