The Rock talking about upcoming DC role:
Lobo? Martian Manhunter, Black Adam? Personally I think he would make a bad ass Hawkman.
“So, you know, there’s been mutual interest with myself and DC for many years to find the right character. I, like everyone here in the room, love superheroes. So there’s been mutual interest with us for years, and we’ve been having ongoing discussions, myself and DC, for years about the right character, what the right character would be. That’s another thing, too: It had to be right.”
When pressed for which role he was in talks to play, Johnson cryptically responded with three qualities of the character.
“The first quality we were looking for was that he had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on,” he said. “What that does for me as an actor and the studio is it gives us space that we can explore; his complexities.
“The other quality was that he had to – the character we were looking for had to be well-known but never brought to life. Then what that does again as an actor, it gives me a little bit of space, and we talked about personality. It just gives me a chance to put an imprint into his personality, with the set of tools that I could bring to the table and put a very unique twist on his personality, but still pay homage to who he is.”
“The third thing – and most important – is he had to be a badass motherfucker, OK, and on a Superman level of power, where [he] could throw down. In those three qualities, I’m happy we’ve found that character.”

Screams Captain Marvel to me and I like how every poster is convinced "Oh it's clearly __."

I like the Rock and I like Captain Marvel, but I don't like the Rock as Captain Marvel at all...

The Rock would make a perfect Black Adam or Martian Manhunter. Some rumors indicate that Captain Marvel is in play for the Justice League movie.

Hmm. There's not many characters that can match Superman for strength other than Black Adam, Captain Marvel, and Martian Manhunter. Lobo's a possibility by I don't see it. So I'd go with Martian Manhunter or Cap. Either way I'm excited to see The Rock in this.

I enjoy most of the movies the Rock is in. However the Rock as any super hero excites me as much as Affleck excites me. The Rock does not have the ability to "disappear into a character." In every role he plays I see "The Rock starring as (insert role here: a babysitter, a tooth fairy, a football player, an army-man action figure, a scorpion monster, etc.)."

I don't think it'd be that bad, plus I don't see Martian Manhunter (assuming that's who he's playing) doing 20,000 lame puns. Also, I think casting The Rock gives a bit of the fun factor missing in the DC movies thus far.

I didn't want to post this since I assumed it was an April Fool's joke, but after doing some further Googling it appears the casting of Michael Cera as The Riddler is real. Every entertainment site has posted a story about it.

Probably should've gone with your first instinct

Oh. Well, with Eisenberg being cast as Luthor in the movie (which seems ridiculous) it didn't seem to absurd to see Cera being the Riddler.

Man... JoBlo really fools everyone. It's always funny when major outlets pick up their stories.
