Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

Snyder was very intimidated at the thought of doing a Batman solo film. “If it was a Batman movie it would be a much more difficult proposition because of how good Chris’ movies are,” said Snyder. “We live in gratitude to those movies. Chris set a tone for the DC Universe, and separated us from Marvel in a great way. We are the legacy of those movies.”
I was under the impression that they were distancing themselves from that interpretation of Batman, but if not, I can see why the DC movies seem so dark.

I still get a CatMan vibe with the custome.

I think more what happened initially was that Warner had hoped for Nolan's involvement in crafting the larger DC Universe but obviously he declined. I don't think they wanted to distance themselves so much but more just make it known that this new Batman exists separately from the Nolan/Bale version.

Since this a Batman who has been for a long time, I really hope one of the solo Batman films is an adaption of Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum graphic novel.

I would love a live action adaptation of The Killing Joke. I know they're doing an upcoming animated adaptation of it, but I would prefer live action. They recently did do a reenactment of that story in the Arkham Knight video game too.

Jena Malone is supposedly cast in the movie, and there are a lots of rumors that she is going to be Carrie Kelly/Robin, but I don't believe those rumors. I personally feel she is much more likely to be Barbara Gordon. She's 30 years old, so I think she is highly unlikely to be Robin. It would be so awesome to see Barbara as Oracle in live action. We have never seen that before.

Excuse me for not remembering a super obscure TV show that 99.9% of the general public has never heard of.

Aye. It was pretty terrible. Terrible plots written by a committee who knew nothing of superheroes/comics except for what they watched on Superfriends or the 60s Batman show (Lois & Clark had the same problem).

Turning Black Canary into a whiny psychic teenager was all sorts of wrong.

But Dina Meyer...

I pretty much guarantee that the animated version of The Killing Joke will do more justice to that story than a live action film ever would. The DCAU stuff stays fairly faithful to the source material when they directly adapt a story whereas in live action they'd likely only take certain elements to use for a different story.

^^ is Killing Joke violent? if there's any to be had, an animated version would show much more of it. Flash Point Paradox and the new Justice League Gods and Monsters is way more violent than any live action superman / batman thus far (including snyder's man of steel).

I like this movie costume for Batman more than prior movie outfits. It's closer to the current comics than ever before and doesn't have all the garish "features" that Hollywood loves to come up with on their own when making superhero costumes.

I like this suit too but for what world and tone Nolan wanted, his suits worked.

Yeah, my favorite is the leaner suit from TDK/TDKR.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

EXCLUSIVE: We Know Who Jena Malone Is Playing in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice':

A few weeks ago, while at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, I found out some information about who Jena Malone will be playing in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Well, now I got the third source and can exclusively reveal that she will playing
Spoiler:
Barbara Gordon.

Now, will she become Batgirl or Oracle, as she has in the comics? Who knows? Only time will tell.

This news contradicts earlier reports, when Malone was first cast, that she'd be playing a version of Robin based on the young, female Carrie Kelley depicted in Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns."

The film stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy, and Jason Momoa

On the heels of the worldwide success of "Man of Steel," director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time - Batman and Superman for the first time on the big screen.

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25, 2016 and is directed by Snyder from a screenplay written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

I like that she'll be in this universe if that's true but does this film really need another character thrown into the mix? I don't know why they feel like they have to blow their load all at once putting so many characters in this film regardless of how large their part is.
