honestly, I saw Maggie's death coming as soon as they announced Harvey Dent was a character they were casting along with the Joker.
It was inevitable that something dramatic, and sympathetic, was going to be needed as rationale to flip him to that extent.

wasn't unexpected to me at all. just a matter of how it was going to happen within the story.

Oh okay. I have never been a huge fan of Bruce's constantly changing romantic interests either. I understand the whole playboy thing is part of his cover story though. I do like his on-again off-again relationship with Talia though. That one actually makes sense. Plus it gave us Damian Wayne, who is just badass.

Plus where are you coming up with this thought that Batman and Robin aren't like the 66 series? I'm well aware of that , I guess for me when it comes to Robin or Nightwing I'd be okay with them coming into the picture but at a later time.
I just feel like people that hate on Robin are people stuck with the 66 series in their mind. Look at all the Robin jokes making fun of him for example. Practically all of them use the old short short/pixie boot look even though that look hasn't been used since the late 80s.

I don't see how anyone who has actually read any comics since the late 80s could actually hate Robin. Especially anyone that has read Chuck Dixon's Robin series in the 90s. That stuff was awesome.

I'm not saying I want Robin or Nightwing in the Justice League movie. I don't simply because they don't belong with the Justice League. They belong more with the Titans. I just get peeved when people blindly bash Robin.

Mxyzptlk is actually my favorite Superman rogue. Seriously. I just love the fifth dimension imps. I don't see how they could ever work in a live-action movie though.

Shondra was erased long before the New 52. After Knightfall, she was briefly mentioned in Hush (which was about a decade later). I don't think she was ever mentioned again after that.

Speaking of another similar erased character, remember Harold? He was the mute hunchback Batman saved from the Penguin in the late 80s, and then Batman gave him a home in the Batcave. Harold was an electronics expert so he made gadgets and things for Batman, kind of like Q does for James Bond I guess.

Anyway, Harold disappeared after Knightfall too. Jean Paul Valley kicked him out along with Alfred and Tim. Like Shondra, Harold wouldn't appear again until Hush. Harold was cured of his mute hunchback status by Hush, and then Hush promptly killed him two pages later. I was like WTF. Why bring him back like that just to quickly kill him.

I miss Harold.

Batman as a character is such that if he's ever given a stable love interest, the writer almost always has to dump her and kill her off so that he can get back to the brooding loner stuff. Though the love story stuff in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm really is genuinely touching.

Yeah that's probably one of the best Bruce love interests if you ask me. I also really thought the way they handled Zatanna was well done despite her not being in very many episodes. That was probably one of my favorite Bruce relationships and one of my favorite episodes of Batman: The Animated Series.

I actually really liked Zatanna's relation to Bruce in that cartoon. Added something to him and how you may view him.

Yeah, those were the days. I miss that universe.

For sure, as much as I like other versions of Batman (and the DC Universe in general really) the Timm era DC Animated Universe really was something special and I doubt will ever be topped. Granted doing a show is a lot different than films as there's more time to tell more stories but the way all those shows were done was just top notch. I still put Batman: The Animated Series as one of my top favorite shows of all time.

Heck yeah, great show. It was made because of the success of the Burton films, but they're better than those movies. If comparing films to tv series isn't fair, then I will say Mask of the Phantasm is better than those films.

The animation style of the show was perfect. My preferred look of the Joker. He looks strange in later series. Weird eyes.

re: Untitled Superman & Batman Film (2015) (D: Snyder; S: Cavill, Affleck)

It was a grand interpretation that put it all in there. Everything that made Those characters the way they were to that point. It was just a huge amount of care to it. Still my favorite Clayface and Mr. Freeze moments in there. I'm not even a big Clayface fan but goddamn was that a disturbing ending to his first appearance. Very twisted and detailed. I didn't even know most of the villains Bats had till the show but it sure made most of them rather definitive.

I think B:TAS is superior but goddamn they make a great Superman too.

Ok. We need to shut up. The DCAU was too good.

One of the many reasons Hush is absolute horseshit. Jeph Loeb became a hack so amazingly quickly.

at what point did he start sucking? I'm not all that aquainted with his work aside from Long Halloween and Hush.

I mostly remember the art from Hush but the story didn't stay with me. Jim Lee, love his art.

I think Hush was pretty much the beginning of the end of things for Loeb, shitty story designed to let Lee draw a bunch of cool stuff. But for him at his worst google Nova Epic Fail.

They should definitely add the Doctor to the movie so that this scene plays out:

UGH. Those all suck. Did they ask a bunch of 5th graders to come up with a list of titles? That's exactly what that list looks like.

There was a Batman/Superman comic storyarc in the late 80s called Dark Knight Over Metropolis. I always like that title.

All horrible.
Just call the damn thing World's Finest and stop trying to come up with some catchy, overly complicated title. And follow it up with a Trinity movie.

Yeah those titles all suck ass. I agree that they should just name it something simple like World's Finest or even Superman vs. Batman or the opposite way around if that's the angle they're trying to play up in this movie.

For me it's not even that just all the titles listed sound cliche and unoriginal.

Black doesn't even make sense. Batman is the Dark Knight, not the Black Knight.

The Blackest Hour title reminds me more of Green Lantern's Blackest Night storyarc.
