Spoiler:
Hobbits run into danger, get captured and held prisoner, Elves show up and rescuer them, Hobbits run away into a new danger, get captured, Elves show up and rescue them, etc.

Isn't this like a 300 page book? Why do they need to make three long movies out of it?

Out of the Furnace - I enjoyed the performances and the Appalachian setting, but the story was senseless with a weak non-ending.

I don't get the love for it either. I didn't hate it but c'mon.

I've actually been on a run of pleasantly surprising movies (everything from Her to Snowpiercer to hell, A Hunted House)

...so I would have to say The Journey West which just seemed like weaker Chow.

I'm not sure why anyone else is, but I know why I liked it.

It took the rubber suit fighting of Godzilla movies (a part I can't get enough of), but had fights that were close to how I imagined awesome Godzilla fights should go. I giggled with nerdy glee when Gipsy dragged the ship behind, then smacked the kaiju across the face with it. And then the face smash with the shipping containers, I pretty much yelled "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"

Re: Last movie that disappointed you?

I dug Pacific Rim because of the universe. The acting was passable and the story lines were blah....but the look and feel were done right. For the type of movie, I can take that. It is fun re-watching material, too...

Hobbit Desolation of Smaug

edit: It looks like a lot of people disliked it! I am sure the Hobbit movies would have been much better if they kept it at two movies instead of streching it into 3.

Nurse 3D. I always scoff at people that say they turn films off after 10 minutes, but I did on this one. Good gracious that woman's voice was horrible to listen to. Her delivery is horrid.

I thought it was fine, aside from the godawful child actor who played Ferrell's son. I'm shocked he wasn't fired on the first day and replaced with some random crew member's kid.

To be fair though the plot of Rocky wasn't original as the template had been done in B 40's movies. That said I think it holds up well because of the charecter development and acting and a lot of the films detractors have more to with the array of bad sequels its spawned. And I love Halloween and usually the reason people my age or younger who don't like Halloween is because they like Horror films with a faster pace and bloodier.

Animal House though doesn't resonate with me because I grew up with Farley so by the time I saw Belushi he didn't resonate. Farley feels like a better version of the same type of thing. And The Dean and all the baddies were like wooden version of more lively bad guy authority figures in 80s comedies.

Man of steel sounds good to me in that case too...but it could be because of the high expectation I had. Good movie anyways

Yeah, that's when it was planned, then the studio saw it and pushed it to Feb.

Special ID.

All of the trailers made it seem like it was going to be Donnie Yen unleashing hell and it was anything like that. I was pissed.
