No one but Lucas himself could possibly write a line worse than "I am haunted by the kiss you should never have given me. My heart is beating, hoping that kiss will not become a scar."

I dunno, my favorite is "Hold me like you did by the lake on Naboo...." from Attack of the Clones. I've had to really work up my stamina to finishing the movie when that scene hits

Shit, this might be an actual dud.
Quality-wise, not box office. It's going to rake in all the money regardless of what people think.
I was just wondering if Adam Driver's career will take the same hit that Natalie Portman's did...I'm wondering if the release of this film had anything to do with getting Adam Driver's name out there for Netflix's Marriage Story and Amazon Prime's The Report, both of which he as excellent in and have some buzz going about his acting. He'll need it to get the stink of this trilogy off him I think.

Both this and the haunted kiss lines are absolutely wretched.

It won’t have any effect on his career.

He’s an Emmy and Oscar nominated actor.

His acting in these hasn’t been an issue. Portman’s was.

It didn't really have much impact or Portman's either.

Well she says she had trouble getting hired after people thought he acting was terrible. Mike Nichols gave her a shot and then told other people hire her.

Funny thing is I don't recall whether I've seen him in anything before SW...and I sure was down on him for how bad those movies have been so far. (Note: I was not one of the ones who thought Force Awakens was a good movie, its initial popularity baffled me).

I'm literally at a point for the first time in all my years of being a fan, thinking of just selling my 6pm opening night ticket to stay home and watch the On Cinema telethon instead.

I think we need to put TPM into perspective. Very early CGI heavy film that utilized nothing but blue screens and a director that is known to not "direct" much with actors. Liam N. almost decided to retire after doing The Haunting and TPM bc of the CGI that was taking over the industry.

That plus I don't see many actors surviving that brutal "love story" writing in ATOC.

If it was like the old days where we had to show up and wait in lines for hours then I'd be with you. Screw that.

The reservation method of today will actually get me out to see it this week.

Yeah, it's Star Wars, gotta see it in the theater.

But looking at these mixed reviews I'm wondering if I should read any of the spoilers so I'm sorta prepared. The last time I did that was for Star Trek Into Darkness because I suspected Benedict was Khan and thought the movie would go over easier if I knew.

Yeah, I forgot about that clusterf**k and how JJ kept INSISTING Cumberbatch wasn't playing Khan. At least there's nothing like that going on this time around.

That said, I'm seeing this baby in about two hours and, other than the theatrical trailers and TV spots/scenes, I know NOTHING about the movie...have pretty much avoided most articles the past month, as I don't want any surprises spoiled.

Okay, he looks different now. Should I rent the original before I see the new one?

Either way, I can rent any of them, but probably only have time to watch one original before the new one with Adam Driver comes out later.

Is OK-Boomer one of the new droids? They always have a way with names in these.

Okay (Boomer! Ha!), I'm back from renting Clone Wars, is that the good one? They had Solo but that seemed more like that's for the die-hards maybe?
