Re: Another movie SHEEP game: SHEEPERHERO II

I would like to see FF rebooted, specifically if they could be brought into the MCU. It's not something I want badly, but I don't really want Green Lantern or Catwoman or any of that stuff either. I get that it was very recently rebooted, but I thought it would be a popular opinion because of how poorly that reboot was received. Yes, we've gotten several versions of the FF. We still have yet to see it done right.

I am only familiar with first two movies and the second half of the reboot, and so for me these are some of the worst characters out there, and they have been put together in a group.

Mr Fantastic (oh such irony!) is about on a par with Hawkeye as far as uselessness goes. He has a super-ability but it sucks, and (unlike Hawkeye) he is the leader so he never shuts up or goes away. Solve our problems with science, super genius! That's good cinema!

The Thing has a catchphrase. Maybe the comics convey the complexity of his situation being no longer human in the human world, but the movies have never done so. Instead he just exists for the Human Torch to make fun of, which just makes Johnny Storm seem like the biggest ass-hat around.

I'll forgive Sue Storm anything because of Jessica Alba.

Safe to say, everyone else familiar with the comics and characters disagrees with you

I don't think anything you said was not true, from the perspective of the movies. (Well, except Jessica Alba, while nice to look at, was terrible casting. ) But as you suspect, the characters are much deeper in the comics, especially their relationships as a team and as a family. The Incredibles was a much better FF movie than the official FF movies.

Except the moviegoers they want to attract are not comics fans.

I had never read an Iron Man comic, but that movie was great and drew me into the world of the Avengers and wanting more.

My original question was an opportunity for any of you FF fans to explain it to me what makes the comics worthwhile and deserving of a third swing at the movie pinata.

That's the point, the comics and characters are richer then what the movies have given us so far, hence people wanting a reboot to do it "right" and be on par with what the MCU has delivered. davidh777 kind of summed it up well enough.

I get the point. I am extending you the opportunity to educate me. I told you how the characters come off to me in the movies. Just telling me they are different in the comics is not telling me anything. You obviously don't have to sell me on FF if you don't want to, but that was the idea behind my OP.

Thank you for keeping the conversation going guys ... That's really what these games are about. For some of us. Those of us who never win. Most of us. I'm getting depressed ... back to the game!

15.) Ensemble films are now dominating the landscape. Even movies credited to one title character will have several others in them. What has been the best ensemble or team up movie (3 or more major heroes)?

Even the solo films are turning into ensemble pieces. There should be plenty of choices to split the vote on this one.

Let's start with a "versus" movie ...

Spoiler:

Boy, wasn't that the truth ... It is based on a comic book ...

Spoiler:

Nah, I'm just messing around now.

Sorry, it sounded like you were being more sarcastic and snarky then serious.

I'm weird in that I actually like the Tim Story movies, as I think they at least do a half decent job with each of the characters - it just could have been put together in a better package. Not sure what there is to expand on, you even acknowledged characters like The Thing not having his situation conveyed very well in the movies. Like david said before, think The Incredibles and the family + powers situation they're put in.

We'll stick with Captain America films ...

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Re: Another movie SHEEP game: SHEEPERHERO II

I thought about Winter Soldier since it's regularly named as people's favorite MCU movie, I just wasn't sure if people would think of it as a "team up" movie.

I think it's a better film that Civil War, but CW is newer and has more team up bang for its buck.

I don't think CA:WS has three major heroes.

Winter Soldier didn't even occur to me as a team-up movie. It seemed like a two-horse race.
