I said it in the other thread but I can understand why this and the Flash background scenes were cut if the mandate was to cut this down to 2 hours. Would've made for a great cyborg movie, though, him dealing with his new body, his own sense of justice and now having the ability to basically manipulate the wealth system for anyone he chooses.

Also Disney+ has about twice as many subscribers as HBO Max.
The fact that people are actually dedicating 4 hours, which is tough to do, to watch this shows how much it's in the pop culture radar of everyone right now.

GIZMO? That you?
What I'm seeing online is that people who normally don't give a shit about comic book movies and those who normally hate DCEU films are being pulled in by enthusiastic reviews from people they trust. I think more will see it than you think.

Everyone I know who has a passing interest in this at all watched this weekend. Everyone else balks at the 4-hour commitment (which I honestly thought would be no big deal but I audibly sighed with relief when "Part 6" came up because I knew we were getting close to the end). Again, it's all anecdotal but this was "opening weekend" and any buzz will probably plummet going forward. There's not even a time limit on when you can watch it.

I watched all 4 hour and....hated it.
Things I hated:
Things I hated:
- How willing the superheroes were to kill their enemies
- Overuse of slo-mo
- Superman, who represents truth, justice and hope and chooses darkness - literally, he picks a black costume for his comeback
- Superman, the paragon of a hero, maims his enemy in a fight by lasering off his horn
- Wonder Woman, decapitates a defeated enemy because, why not?
- Batman - "and make no mistake, I will fucking kill you."
- Also, Batman, whose parents were gunned down, to whom guns are anathema, picks up a gun and blasts hundreds of parademons out of existence
- The aspect ratio
- The dialogue - Cyborg: "It's nature is to fly" (no shit, it's a plane) - Batman: "Just like you." Ugh.
- The length.
- The general "darkness" of the film. In every possible way.
They are fighting in war to safe humanity and you want Batman to be MacGyver?

Fair enough. And don't necessarily disagree about the runtime being an thing for many. But I also see people saying they are simply breaking up the viewing. Hell, I broke up the viewing myself.

The fact that there's an article about the times that Batman kills someone considering how long he's been published does kind of prove the point that it happens very rarely, often in a different continuity, and is usually a big deal. I mean look at the Injustice games for a kind of over the top look at that. Same goes for Superman.
I get reinterpreting characters, and I don't necessarily have a problem with him going after parademons or Steppenwolf. But I look at something like "Bruce Wayne and Lois are having a baby" and I balk. Even though these are fictional characters written by hundreds of creators with a lot of inconsistencies between them, there are always going to be some core values that people associate with the character. It's kind of like if you had Batman who could fly and shoot lasers out of his rump, yeah, you could do it (and maybe it's been done) but why?

The KGBeast stuff in that CBR article, though? Those writers should be banned from writing Batman any longer.
People can say I live in a fantasy world. So do these characters. The major DC characters are supposed to be examples of the best of humanity's ideals. They aren't just characters, but embodiments of our modern beliefs, principles, and rights. They figure out the third option and find a way.

But I don't think threatening the Joker after the world is in ashes and they have one last attempt to kill Darkseid is so much out of character. I mean, he didn't actually kill him and some treat Snyder's Batman like the Punisher.

Early word is that HBO Max is super happy about new subscriber sign-ups and the studio wants Snyder to direct Wonder Woman 3 if he wants. I think animated projects for Snyder's Justice League 2 and 3 are very possible.

Oh now they want to be team Snyder ![LOL](/images/smilies/lol.gif)
As often stated, the mistake was trying to make DC like Marvel. Hell, DC comics are not like Marvel, so why should the films be? Let Falcon get rejected at the bank for a loan, while Flash has high tech equipment with no job
It's fine.

Isn't that basically someone's retirement? The other thing that struck me in that scene was that man there are a lot of security cameras for that one doorway.

Really? I just saw WB has officially said that there will be no Snyderverse and that the David Ayer cut will not be restored. They thanked ZS for his trilogy.

My personal thought (as well as many others online and my friends/family) is that pretty much every MCU movie has a coherent storyline. Not all are great, but if my parents can understand them, then the writers did the job. The second biggest callout is that the MCU isn’t bleak as hell like most DCU ones. If anything, the MCU showed their storylines can be simple, complex, and appeal to old and young alike without insulting neither.

The MCU feels like it does a much better job playing by the rules it makes up and sticking to how the real world works for the non-fantastical/non-McGuffin aspects of its stories. That said, I have no problem calling it out when it does stupid shit just because it looks or seems cool. Thanos pulling a moon down in Infinity War bugged the shit out of me as for the pieces to get to the planet so fast, they’d have to be traveling at a speed that would’ve completely disintegrated everything and everyone in the scene.
