Can anyone shed any light on why this company will only allow you to put no more than 8 items in your cart? and also they wont let you double up on anything.
I have tried numerous times to place an order with them but nothing works.
Being an international customer I want to order more than $200 canadian worth to take advantage of the free international postage...its a tad difficult when you can only order 8 items.

Having now cancelled items myself, I can tell you that they will show as 'voided' in the order. You will have credit in your account to spend as you see fit. You can also go to https://www.dvdsoon.com/members/credit-refund.xml and get that credit refunded to your card.

Two orders with them so far.......and EXCELLENT service. I just received my last order with 7 preorders(one not even due out until 8/27 and a few for 8/20) on 8/16. These guys keep you updated with emails on the status of your order and each time I placed an order it wound up being about $1.00 cheaper on the conversion. Free shipping which turns out to be priority mail requiring a signature......My first order had 6 dvds which gave me $6.00 Canadian toward my next order. My second order contained 7 dvds which in turn gave me another $7.00 Canadian toward my next order. When you place five orders with 3 or more dvds in the order they credit you $5.00 plus the $1.00 per dvd for having 3 or more in the order. All I can say is....they have the best prices currently and the best service I have received from anybody in the past. Their prices are already low without even looking at the free shipping and the credit given for multiple dvds within an order. I know some people have had problems with dvdsoon but it appears these problems are occurring with dvds already released and are on order etc......

Each of my two orders contained recently released titles and preorders.......they all came in prior to street date and shipped accordingly. I would never advise people to divide their order into separate shipments....when this is done you lose the purcolator mail(or whatever they call it) which is priority mail. When you have something shipped from Canada by Air Mail it can take up to two weeks. Each of my first two orders arrived within a three day period....leave your orders whole and do NOT separate shipments.

I'm confused on how you can tell if you're buying a Canadian DVD (i.e. a different case or whatever) or an American DVD. Earlier in the thread it was mentioned to look for V.F., but I've not seen that on anything (like Monsters, Inc.), however, when you look at the dvd details, it shows a French 5.1 track, and the dvd listed on Amazon shows no such track. This is the same with other dvds also.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

If you order from a Canadian retailer, you are buying a Canadian DVD.

Almost all releases are exactly the same.

The ones that differ typically differ in one of two ways: (1) different rating stamps on the back... although I noticed a lot of US retail dvds now carrying Canada's rating or (2) a reversible front cover with the original on front, french on back.

There are some that are completely different, or at least where the main track is French, etc. These will be noted with v.f. or version franceis (or however you spell that wacky language).

Typically though, if it's not marked otherwise, assume it's the same or unnoticably close to the original US.

I just ordered 2 DVD's from them on the 14th and received them on the 19th (it came priority mail). Was notified by e-mail confirming my order and also when it shipped. The link they gave to track the package was really good too. Great service and the price was pretty good. First time using a Canadian site and was very pleasantly surprised at the speed my order was fulfilled. But I ordered 2 DVD's that have been out for a while, haven't tried pre-ordering yet.

Looks like they are charging big time for shipping. I just had an order at the purchase page and saw they had charged $11+, went back to check other mail options and they only had express. Regular mail has been taken away as an option.

WOOPS: ME DUMB! They had just changed the limits for free postage, $66 for Canada and I think $115 for USA. International much more. A surprise that they didn't advise old customers of the change but I guess they have good prices not customer service.

Just call them for pete's sake; it never takes more than 30 seconds to get through to a live person. Why bother with emailing? It's an 800 # too.

I recently placed an order for 3 pre-order items and then realized I could get one of them significantly cheaper elsewhere. I was concerned that when I cancelled the one item I would then be charged $9.98 CAD shipping for the remaining two items since the grand total would now be below the $115 CAD amount needed for free shipping. And the prices on the other two items had gone up..so even though I had another item which I could use to combine to get the total above $115 CAD I would still be losing most of the price advantage resulting from the change for the one item. Anyway since I figured the worst that would happen is that I would roughly break even I went ahead and cancelled the one item. And to my (pleased) surprise...they did not add a shipping charge to the order that is now showing as considerably under $115 CAD. So I don't have to worry about creating a new order which would increase my costs for the other two items after all. Has anyone else had this situation before? With the same results or not?

maineiac: Did you actually get a refund to your CC or just store credit when you canceled? If you just got store credit then you will actually have to pay for shipping when you go to use it unless you place another order for at least $115 (including your credit). Otherwise if they did refund your CC then you got off good.

Example: I had ordered 4 items and qualified for free shipping. Two of the items were out of stock, and I decided to cancel them after I had already been charged. When I canceled I received store credit which I then used to buy another DVD + $3.99 for shipping.

Hopefully this makes sense.

after reading this checked my pending orders and they have charged shipping, all qualified to purolator on order date. How they just can change this without any notice I don't understand. These guys are cheap but sucks on service.

I got a credit...and I realize that if I use that credit amount then I will have to pay shipping if it does not reach $115 CAD. But what I was talking about was the leftover items in the first order. Since those two items now total about $70 CAD, you would expect that I would be charged shipping of $4.99 CAD per item ($9.98 CAD) total. I expected this to happen by having the credit to my account be less than the amount of the DVD I was cancelling by that amount...and then the $9.98 CAD would show up as a charge for shipping in the first order.

In fact, I would think they would want to do this. Otherwise people can routinely charge a bunch of DVDs to reach the $115 CAD threshold for free shipping...then cancel some of them and not pay any shipping even though the total ends up being less than $115 CAD!!

I am assuming that your items are being shipped to Norway. If so, the free shipping threshold is now $165CAD for such orders. Was your total that much?

Yes, but you paid the $115 up front the get free shipping (they charge immediately). To me, they clearly win in this situation because:

1. It is now probably cheaper for them to ship your first order since it is now smaller (weighs less)
2. You now have to pay shipping when you use your credit unless your new order is $115

Another example: You buy $115 worth of items and get free shipping. You cancel an item worth $20 and get a credit. You then decide that you want to buy another item at the same price as the item you canceled. Since you now have to pay shipping on the new order your total paid is now $115 + $4.99.

To me, the only time this could benefit you is if you are going order at least $115 on your next order with your credit and even then you are not cheating them.

I gave DVDsoon a try several months ago. I ordered 4 items and had troubles with 2 of them. I decided then that it was not worth the trouble.

I have read the many posts telling of fast shipments and the new flexibilty to split shipments when there are backorders so I gave them another try last weekend. I have to say it has been a poor experience so far.

To start after placing the first order I had to wait 2 days for "ID verification" before I was allowed to enter the remaining 4 orders. In all I entered 5 orders for 27 items. 1 item was a prior release (that is on-hand) the other items wher 8/27 and 9/03 releases. All of the orders has at least 4 items.

The first order showed 1 item backordered with a 9/15 expected date, so I selected the ship partial option. The second order showed all items on hand for 2 days, then 1 of the items changed to back orderd, since selecting partial shipment on the first order has not seemed to make any difference I have not selected that option on the second order yet. The remaining three orders all have a combination of onhand and preorder 9/03.

So in summary not one item has shipped, in the meantime, items that were on hand have gone on backorder and so much for early arrival of preorders. By the way I have sent two emails that have yet to be answered and when I tried to call I received an offer to leave a voicemail.

I just tried and it's working fine for me. They do seem to have web site problems more often than most though.

maineiac: I misunderstood, when I deleted some of my pending orders the order page said credited xx for shipping but offcourse your right. But they shipped one order as int. airpackage, but when I ordered I qualified for purolator. The point being that the delivery time with Purolator is lots shorter than air package.

Another thing that drives me nuts is the status system. Some items like X-files 1-2-3-4 says their're preorders but when ordering they come up as on hand. Others like Simps 1 season still says preorder when ordered. Why can't they just not have an inventory system like most other retailers.

Here's another peculiarity in the cancellation system. Yesterday I ordered 5 DVDs from them in one order, four were shown as in stock and one backordered...I don't recall if on the DVD page it indicated the expected receipt date or not, but if it did I did not notice it. Anyway, I needed all 5 to qualify for free shipping..the final back ordered item for $16.98 CDN brought my total to just a few cents over the $115 CDN free shipping amount.

Once the order was actually entered I noticed that this backordered item had an estimated date of arrival of October, 2002. So, given my experience before as noted in one of my messages above, I thought I would go ahead and cancel that item because I figured that I would not now be charged $4.99 CDN per item on the remaining 4 items in my order even though the total was now under the $115 CDN threshold.

Well, there was good news and good news.

I was right, I was not charged shipping on the remaining 4 items and the full $16.98 CDN was added back to my account as a credit. But in addition, they added another $4.99 CDN credit to my account - as if they were crediting me for $4.99 CDN in shipping - though of course I had not been charged any shipping at all for that order. So my credit total was $21.97 CDN!!! Go figure!!!

I have another one, had two items order which were on hand. it didn't have same dame option of credit order so I by accident opened two windows with the same order. I deleted one of the items. Going back I saw that I could delete the remaining item(no x). But I had the other window open so I deleted the other on that. Now my order didn't say voided but shipped. Not a biggie but obvious they got real problems with their system.
Another fun thing, order a title on the 22,( on hand) have not yet been shipped, ordered another of the same title today, also on hand. But when I checked the order of 22 it had gone to on order. Go figure.

So much for getting pre orders early. I placed pre orders for 23 9/3 releases. Of the 23 items, 10 are now backordered. All of the backordered items have a 9/18 date, I assume that the date is a standard time they apply when an item is backordered. I have requested the partial shipment option, I'll have to see if anything actualy ships before the backordered items arrive.

I got a shipping confirmation yesterday (9/1) for Friends Season 2 due Tuesday (9/3) and for a seperate order containing The Red Curtain Triology and Changing Lanes due 9/10.

So it looks like Friends will be after street and the others will be a few days early. Still good to me since the price was so great.
