Ordered a title that was on hand. Four days later order was still pending and now the item is on order with projected date of Sept 19th.

This was my first order with them and perhaps my last.....assuming I don't cancel it period.

I am not a happy camper

I thought I had it bad. I placed an order on 9/3, all items were on hand. I just checked today to see if they shipped, all items still on hand, order still "pending". WTF?

based on my experience they now use 5-6 days to ship an on hand order. To much to do I guess.

Yeah...and on about the 4th day they will discover that some of those "on hand" items aren't... I just did an order where 4 of five items were listed as on hand. The fifth had a very long back-order date. I cancelled that item. After checking to see when those others would be shipped, on the fourth day, three of them suddenly said back-ordered...though "only" til Sept. 19.

On my other order that already should have shipped...STNG Season 4 and Outer Limits, Season 1....the STNG now finally says "on hand" but OL now says the pre-order date is Sept. 10 instead of the proper Sept. 3. Let's see what happens when Sept. 10 comes and goes!

Yeah, this will be my last order with them. I'll stick to STL/coupon/free shipping at amazon.

Since those two items now total about $70 CAD, you would expect that I would be charged shipping of $4.99 CAD per item ($9.98 CAD) total. I expected this to happen by having the credit to my account be less than the amount of the DVD I was cancelling by that amount...and then the $9.98 CAD would show up as a charge for shipping in the first order.

In fact, I would think they would want to do this. Otherwise people can routinely charge a bunch of DVDs to reach the $115 CAD threshold for free shipping...then cancel some of them and not pay any shipping even though the total ends up being less than $115 CAD!!
In the midst of my correspondence with them re: their Partial Shipping option (covered in this thread) I think I found the answer to the question that you have been raising. Before I cancelled part of the items in my order (bringing it below the $115 CAD threshold for free shipping), I asked them to verify that I would not be charged for any shipping on the order.

Their reply;
Dear Sir,

We cancelled the items indicated from your order *****. However, the
only option when we cancel items is for store credits to be issued. This store
credit is either to be used in future purchases or to be refunded to your credit
card. To have a refund of your store credit, please, visit your account and
click on the "Refund a Credit" link on the right side of the screen.

As for shipping charges, since we have no credit card information on
file, we can't charge anything further. That is one of the advantages of having
paid at ordering time. Thus, no shipping charges will apply.

If you should need anything else, please, don't hesitate to contact me
again. Have a nice day.

Interesting response - of course they could simply reduce the store credit by the amount of the shipping charges due.

And as I pointed out in another post, on a different order, when I cancelled an item, not only did they not charge me shipping for the rest of the order which was then under $115 CAD...but in addition to the store credit for the item they gave me an additional CREDIT of $4.99 CAD, representing the amount of shipping I would have been charged for that item had the total in the original order been less that $115 CAD!!! Very wierd system. (Of course I would trade all of these credits, etc. for delivery of product on time.)

They definitely didn't do that on my order.

Well, Outer Limits, which was released in the US on Sept. 3 and which DVDSoon said would not be released in Canada until Sept. 10 has been updated in my order to show a release date of Sept. 17!!

Has anyone got this from any Canadian etailer yet?

I have a question for you guys. I just received The Count of Monte Cristo and Monsters Inc, and I think they are the French versions. I could have sworn I told the site I was from the US. On the back it says "French language track", and on the front of Monsters Inc it says "Version Francaise Incluse". So, since I don't speak French, am I screwed? What can I do about this?

Usually all that means is that there is a French track in addition to the original (presumably English track) The French track will often be in place of a Spanish track that is found on most US releases. To be sure what is included, check the DVDSoon website for the specific item you ordered. It usually includes all the information about what language tracks are included for each specific item.

they have two versions of monster, the one with v.f. is the french issue with french cover. Both versions has both english and french audio.
Believe it's candadian law that dvds have to be issued with both enlgish and french cover and audio.

Ok, I ordered Brotherhood of the Wolf through these guys and then canceled 2 days later...it's now a week after I canceled and they still haven't recredited my CC.

My question is, how long does it normally take these morons to recredit a CC when it took them about 5 minutes to make the initial charge?

I've gone ahead and disputed the charge with my CC company though. Won't be bothering with this company ever again. I'm just mad I didn't check up on these guys before I made the initial purchase!

When you canceled your order did you perhaps just get a credit to your account? As I recall, if you just cancel your order you ordinarily only get a "store credit." Since they don't store your credit card number in their system, they can't automatically send a credit to your account. There are a number of steps you have to follow up on with them to get the credit issued to your account. (I have never gotten that far since I have ordered lots of stuff with them, and when I wanted to cancel an order simply had the amount credited to my account and then used it in a later order.)

I didn't get it credited to my account...when I canceled, I selected the option for 're-credit credit card' (or something to that effect).

After I did that, it just says 'Status: cancelled' and I received an email that says it has been canceled. They never (at least I don't remember) asked for my CC# while I was canceling either.

If the only thing you did was cancel the order then I suspect that if you go back to your account you will see that you have a credit in your account. As I mentioned before there is no way they could refund the amount you paid them since they have no record of your credit card number in their system.

Note the following from their FAQ:
23. I got a store credit for a voided item / order, but I want my money back. We understand our obligation to deliver the goods for which you paid for or issue a refund if you so desire. To obtain the refund of your store credit, login to your account and request the "Credit Refund" form. When you click on that link, you will be brought to an instruction page to fill that form.

I just noticed that DVDSoon is now an advertiser here. Perhaps they will have someone monitor these discussions and participate as warranted.

That is the English version they sell. In Canada they added that small yellow dot that says 'Version Francaise Incluse'. If it really bothers you, don't purchase from Dvdsoon because I imagine you'll find this more often than not.

A note about the CDN version of Monster`s Inc. I pre-ordered mine fron dvdsoon. No Problems, but the version they send is missing the full frame version and isolated sound effects track.

When I go into my account, there is no credited amount to my account.
They may be doing things differently these days, and actually keeping credit card information on hand...I don't know.
But there's no credited amount in my account, and they still won't respond to email inquiries.

Good thing I can just let my CC company deal with them.

If you login to your account and they show:

You have $ 0.00 CAD available in credit exchangeable for merchandise in your account.

then there is definitely a problem unless you used up that credit in a subsequent order. However, they still do not maintain your credit card information on their account. They have an 800 number...if you are in the US or Canada why not just call them and see what the story is? [ 1-888-983-SOON (7666) ]
