It's just good to see Dawson getting laid on a regular basis this season.

The end of Dawson's Creek

'Dawson's Creek' Dries Up After Five Years on WB
By Michael Schneider

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - "Dawson's Creek (news - Y! TV)" -- the show that turned the WB into a bona fide network -- will sail into the sunset this May after five angst-filled years.

The WB plans to air a two-hour "Dawson's" finale May 14.

While other young-skewing series came before it, "Dawson's Creek" came to define the WB's programming strategy, along with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer (news - Y! TV)" and "Felicity." The show bowed to the WB's highest-ever ratings in January 1998 and immediately became its No. 1 show in key demos.

Created by Kevin Williamson (news), "Dawson's Creek" also became the WB's first out-of-the-box hit among critics, who began to look at the network (which was still seen as the home for trashy sitcoms a la "Unhappily Ever After") in a much more positive light.

"We will always carry an emotional attachment to 'Dawson's Creek,' for without it the WB would not exist," WB entertainment president Jordan Levin said. "The show defined who we are and reflected the aspirational voice of the next generation of television viewers. The WB has grown up alongside the cast and in the process the series became a defining and life-altering experience for all involved."

"Dawson's Creek" also made stars out of its original cast, including James Van Der Beek (news) (Dawson), Katie Holmes (news) (Joey), Michelle Williams (news) (Jen) and Joshua Jackson (news) (Pacey). With their contracts on the show up, all involved agreed it was time to focus on their burgeoning film careers.

Season to date, "Dawson's Creek" is still the WB's No. 2 program among adults 18-34 (3.3 rating/10 share, up 6% from last year) and is its 4th-highest rated series in the persons 12-34 demo (3.0/9). "Dawson's" still holds the WB's record for best-ever rating among the 12-34 crowd (6.3/17). In its heyday, the show dominated especially with female teens, where it once pulled an astounding 19.3 rating and 48 share.

The show, which originally took place in a sleepy New England hamlet, now mostly centers in Boston, as the characters grow up and attend college

Not a huge suprise, really. I don't watch this show and I still knew that this was the last season of "The Creek".

It makes sense...it was set around teenagers, and eventually, teenagers grow up, and unless nobody ever aged on the show, it would be impossible to keep up storylines with characters in their mid-30s.

It'll be interesting to see if it makes it to syndication next year. 5 years = 100 episodes, which would then make it old enough to be syndicated.

Oh, and I didn't think "Happily Ever After" was that trashy. It was good fun.

Not a surprise.

I quit watching midway through the 3rd season.

I don't think the cast was to happy about having to do this current season.

I enjoyed watching this show until the end of the third season. Once they graduated high school they should have ended it then and there.

It's only been on for five years? I swear it was on when I was in high school, and it's been six-and-a-half years since I left high school. Maybe I watched it when I was home on some sort of break from college.

I was thinking the same thing. I thought it was on during my freshman year of college and that would make it at least six years.

*I just checked Yahoo and it has the premiere as Jan 98 so that would make it 5&1/2 years when it ends.

Television Without Pity says that they're on their sixth season right now. I believe TWoP over Michael Schneider and Variety Magazine.

Wow, two of my favorite shows, Seinfeld and The Creek have their series finales on my birthday... May 14th... it's also George Lucas' birthday... maybe that date holds some special meaning in the time-space continuum... or it could just be a big coincidence

I think it died after Kevin Williamson left the show. After that it became just another Teen Drama.
I just roll my eyes at the comercials they show now.
Should have ended it a few years ago.

I believe he left to work on a new ABC series at the time (Wasteland, which is long gone) and to focus on his film career.

For what it's worth, I have watched this show since '98 and it has become part of my Wednesday night routine for the past 5 1/2 years (well, Tusday night for the first couple seasons). I for one will be sad to see it go and will for sure be watching the final 10 episodes.

Clean and Sober
Spoiler:
When Dawson visits Audrey at rehab, he spots a big time producer (guest-star Alicia Coppola) and follows her into a therapy session. Meanwhile, Pacey throws a party to celebrate his new success and is surprised when Joey lets loose during a spontaneous game of spin the bottle; Jen catches reformed alcoholic C.J. with a drink; and Jack agrees to marry Emma so that she can get her green card.

Hey Jim! Did you use the STL I sent you? I don't think many people watch this anymore. I am waiting to start the series when my first season set comes from Amazon.

I've been a die hard fan since episode 1... taped every episode up until last year (Sad to admit ) I can't wait to buy all the DVDs! This episode was pretty good... Joey was frickin' hilarious "He was excited... Ohhhhhhh!" The previews were kind of misleading though. 9 more left I'll miss it, it had a special place in my life

I thought I'd missed an episode when Emma showed up with that gnarly loser dude, but she was only after a green card.

Please tell me that Dawson doesn't fall for Audrey. I don't think I could take that development as the gang rides into the sunset after this season.

Dawson and Audrey would be quite upsetting...

BUT what about Pacey and Joey together. I hope they dont end the series with them together. I like both characters, but c'mon

DAWSON gotta be with Joey!!!

I know its too obvious and predicable, but none the less.
