Well... today is the series finale. I've seen it already, but watching it again. I managed to catch nearly every episode from start to finish. Now what, I wonder.

Not sure where else to put this, so I figure this will work...

This show was around much earlier than when I started to really pay attention to actors/actresses, guest spots, writers and directors. Anyway, I was just skimming something and noticed that Greg Berlanti used to be an EP on this.

As an Everwood fan I am curious to know what his responsibilities were and what years he was with the show While I haven't caught Brothers & Sisters I enjoyed Everwood from start to finish and I'm wondering if Berlanti was involved in the parts that I felt were the strongest (S4 and 5...if I recall correctly).

Also, what led to Kevin Williamson leaving and then returning? Was it bad blood with the WB, or was it more of a JJ Abrams Felicity/Alias move?

Williamson left to work on some other show he created, which aired on ABC for a handful of episodes in the Fall of '99 and then got canned, if I recall correctly. The name of the show is escaping me right now, but I remember it starred the blonde chick that was in Killing Mrs. Tingle and Freddy Got Fingered.

I'm pretty sure that was "Wasteland"

I watched DC througout its run, and have thought many times of buying the whole series. But I can't look at Katie Holmes the same way that I use to, and its all Tom Cruise's fault.

I liked Dawson's Creek on DVD...up until like S3 or something. Whenever it was they left for college. It went way downhill at that point IMO with most of the parents and their storylines gone, and rather than teenage coming of age angst drama, became who was swapping beds with who. IMO

Wasteland was actually a decent show IMO. It had a nice 20-something cast at the time with Sasha Alexander, Noxema Girl (Rebecca Gayheart) and I believe the Brad Pitt lookalike Brad Rowe. I think ABC just never fully supported it. I think it belonged on a smaller network like The WB or UPN.

I think it was fine that Williamson wanted to try other projects, but he shouldn't have abandoned the show entirely. He should have stayed to write a few episodes a season. It was cool that he came back for the final season. I think it was a case of Scream being such a hit and every studio thinking this guy was the new hit machine in film writing/directing and throwing money at his face.

I only own Season One on DVD and to me it's the only good season of DC. That said though, it's pure magic. And while Katie Holmes has had all this drama in her life as of late, don't let that color your viewing of her performance on this show. She makes the perfect Joey Potter even after one repeat viewing after another.

It's probably a good TV show for teenagers.

I still pop in season one from time to time. It's silly but a fun/guilty pleasure.

I watched it when it was on and enjoyed it. I don't have any desire to revisit it however.

Loved the show however I recently watched the pilot and it seemed very dated to me.

If you want to sample season one you can get the complete series pretty cheap if you have a multi-region player:

Re: Dawson's Creek any good

Season one and two are good. The rest of the seasons are mediocre. I thought the end of season one was pretty groundbreaking at the time. I liked how a lot of the episodes have movie references and some are even homages to classics. Supposedly every episode of season one was based off of a different movie. The other seasons only do this with only a few episodes.

I watched this when I was in high school. I doubt it holds up.

Meh. After S2 it's pretty downhill from there...but still enjoyable enough.

Re: Dawson's Creek any good

season 4 is the only one I own and the only one I like. And then the end of the year fucked up all of the progress they were making.

I saw all of the seasons on TV, but I like Season 4 for the Gretchen and Mr. Brooks characters.

That's a lot more than the $4 the OP is thinking of paying for the first season, which is what he's asking about, so what's the point of your post?

Like everyone else, the first couple of seasons are entertaining, in a very 1990s teen-angst kind of way, but then it goes down hill. Sort of inevitable when you think about it. There are only so many ways you can pair up the same four characters and then break them up.

Re: Dawson's Creek any good

Once the show went to college as most teen shows do that begin in high school, in the case of the Creek, the show basically went from "Dawson's Creek" to "Joey's Campus", which I could not stand because I could never stand Joey Potter much, and never got why Dawson and Pacey always fought over her. Katie Holmes' popularity was soaring*, and she unofficially became the show's lead character.

What bothered me about watching reruns on TV was that despite never airing or being released on DVD that way, the show was clearly shot and framed for widescreen from at least season 3 onward. A lot of obvious 'pan and scan' moves throughout many episodes. The first episode of that season even had a letterboxed opening credit sequence.

*this was before Tom Cruise, of course.

I meant that if he buys (aka samples) season one for $4 NZ and he likes it he can grab the entire series pretty cheap.
