Wow, Suzie has quickly come from dark horse candidate in my book to front runner. She seems like a sweetie, has a great voice, has made huge improvements, and really did well on the new INXS song in the studio (not to mention the older ones live).
Having said that, if they pick Suzie I would be very excited. I think she can pull of the classic INXS songs and help the band continue to grow. At this point I'm really really hoping they give her the nod. She's really grown alot as a performer since this began.
Edit-
Oh my God!
Spoiler:
JD sucked pretty hard on This Time and Ty is absolutely butchering The One Thing IMHO

Cool my guess earlier tonight about who was in the bottom 3 was 100% correct.

Yikes! I didn't like any of the INXS songs sung by the bottom 3 tonight, they all sounded odd.

"I'm sorry, Ty, you just aren't white for our band, INXS."

So glad they called him out on messing up the lyrics to "The One Thing." That was bugging me big time. Kind of appropriate since that song was on Shabooh, Shabah, but of course, Ty doesn't know "albums".

And what a cry-baby!

Jordis was definitely underwhelming. I'm sad that my initial enthusiasm for her has been greeted with so many slack performances.

JD was horrendous as always. Ty got gypped. Even though he had to get the boot eventually, JD should have gone tonight.

Wow a black man played the race card when things didn't go his way there's a shocker. Well don't worry Ty I hear the Dodgers are hiring.

Yea. You're in the bottom 3 because of your race. WTF? I know there is racism in the world but I think the music scene is one place that the majority of people give credit where credit is due. I'm sorry but that was just pitiful.

Ty's rant blew, he got the boot because he wasn't up to snuff, couldn't cut the mustard, etc...

Oddly enough in this Ty reminded me of a few of the replacements for Tower of Power, Blood Sweat and Tears, the Kentucky Headhunters and Ray Wilson's stint in Genesis, talented but you know, not quite there....

Ty made me feel crappy--that's JD's job

I haven't been a fan of Ty's arrogant attitude. I can't think of anyone else on the show that's been in the bottom three that just goes out and says it's a problem with the audience. Even JD doesn't get that full of himself. Ty gets along with the other contestants, but won't accept the possibility that any of them are better than him.

Very true, plus he would always just smirk when Dave or the INXS guys would try to give him some helpful criticism, like "whatever, i'm just gonna continue doing it my way no matter what you say". I thought his voice was pretty strong, but thanks to his overinflated ego and cheesy stage moves (when will they learn that the Jesus pose was cliched 20 years ago? ) he wore on me very quickly. Along with being able to sing, I have to at least somewhat like a contestant to vote for them, and I just flat out never really liked Ty. It had absolutely nothing to do with race, yet he still had to throw it in while trying to act like he's Mr. Positivity. JD was only a little better than him tonight, so he got saved for another week, but I have a feeling he's the next to go.

It was a pathetic, whiny rant that made him look ridiculous. Good riddance.

I was really hoping they got rid of JD, but in hindsight after that whiney speech using the race excuse, they probably did the right thing. He'd made some other comments in the past that led me to suspect he might play victim if he got voted out, but I generally liked the guy personally (although his stuck on smile and broadway looking actions on stage always creeped me out).

Sad to tarnish a good run on the show with that.

Sad, I think Ty's problem is that he's not that cool--and he's not funky. I swear it looked like Ty cried after Andrew Farriss said he was a great soul singer. Oh yeah, he's not that either.

After watching it, that's obviously the reason they chose him. None of them stood out tonight. Since it was the first chance they had to hear JD and Jordis. At this point, the band had to be pretty sure that Ty wasn't going to be their new lead singer no matter how much they like him. He just doesn't fit.

I didn't think his rant was quite as bad as you guys were making it out to be, he's been worse than that in the past. He's an emotional guy, and it had to piss him off to get knocked out for being in the bottom three too many times.

I've felt this about Ty for awhile now. He's decided that INXS needs soul, and he's the guy to bring it. Well fuck you Ty, the band IS NOT about soul, they are a poprock band.

If anyone thinks the singer's look was one of shock for Ty leaving, no way. It was definitely about what he said. And here's another fuck off for you Ty - I never voted for you because I never found you that good, and your arrogance is a major put off. You were predictable and unadventurous, and I can't see you fronting a major band. The fact that you are black never entered into it.

Being emotional is one thing, saying INXS and the public are racist is being a whiner that won't accept you aren't right for the band, INXS.

The right person went, regardless of color.

I'd agree that no one was especially good last night, but I think a large part of it was that those three INXS songs blow (IMO of course). I sort of like Listen Like Thieves, but the others just aren't that great.

I think that Suzie has to be around another couple of weeks after getting back to back encores. Even if she is in the bottom three, the band INXS would not let her go.

Jordis burned out pretty quickly. Song choice was definitely a huge issue with her.

JD just keeps coming with being an asshole.

Mig should have been bottom three instead of Jordis, based on that night's performance.

Marty did a nice version on both shows. He'll never win though.

To tell the truth, I can't really see how the winner of this will be a full fledged member of the band INXS. After grovelling at their feet for months, how can INXS take them seriously as a peer? Is the new singer going to have any input for song writing? Will they have any creative control? We kinda saw flashes of that when Andrew told Jordis to sing the new song as it was written instead of how she interpreted it (or as JD would say "Dance, Monkey, Dance!"). I doubt he did that much to Michael Hutchence, but who knows?

As for the new CD, maybe all of the songs are already written now and the lead singer won't be expected to contribute. They probably want to jump on the popularity of this show, as it seems to be doing better in the ratings lately (here in Canada anyway).

I'm sorry but Bohemian Rhapsody is opera music. I have never liked that song. I'll give Suzie credit in that she did it well but I think MiG would have done just as good. Suzie has a great voice but nothing else. Normally I like the innocent play but with her it just comes off forced and annoying. She has no stage presence and she looks more like a cheerleader than a rock singer. She just doesn't have "it".

Dude, bottom line

I fast foreward through the majority of the songs, except when JD, Marty and sometimes Mig are singing...if Ty cant get me to even watch his boring, cheesy, broadway, really nerdy/effeminate dude pretending to be a rocker crap, how could he front a band?

Um, okay.

Those were all lame bottom three performances. I've soured on Jordis. Still like her voice, but she's kind of boring even with a decent voice. JD is toast.

Well, I'd say a poprock band with soul. A good deal of their tunes are certainly dancey or funky.

for the person that doesn't like jordis. I do agree, she does have that schrumpy, shlumpy, frumpy look. any word ending in "umpy".

anyway, as to last night. I could not agree with everyone more. When Ty got the boot, I immediately said to my wife, "he's gonna play the race card", based on some of his earlier comments about there being no african-americans in rock music.

reasons for the boot IMO:
1) INXS is not a soul band
2) cheesy on-stage antics
3) an attitude of not really wanting to work with the band to get better
4) messed up the lyrics
5) weird sense of entitlement
6) ego (he ALWAYS thought he should have the encore)
7) screwed up "everlong", a great song
8) really dumb mohawk

anything else? everyone left is good, but it's up to INXS, and I agree with them, I can't see Ty fronting the band. maybe another band. everyone left could front a band and be pretty popular... i'm sure we'll see the American Idol type thing where the non-winners sign recording contracts or the like.

what i'd really like to see is one of the non-winners join up with the House Band and record some albums under a new name. i love the house band. or maybe just the house band by itself. or maybe i can book the house band for a wedding?

I love the house band as well. I would love to see them get a lead singer and record.

Anyone else notice that Suzie and Jordis seemed to have put on some weight since the show started? For some reason, last night there were a couple of moments when it really stood out to me.

What exactly is the situation with the house? Can they come and go as they please? Is everything provided for them (catering, etc)? Just curious.
